I don’t see any dogs in the photos . Many times cadaver ( SAR) dogs will be used if they truly believe something is there.

Doesn't necessarily mean they aren't there. Probably deeper into the property if they are using them.

Google Maps

Map from Mollie's boyfriends, to her mom's house, to Lincoln Wildlife area (around where they're searching) and Wayne Cheney's house and pig farm.

Dear Poppyflower,

You are so wonderful to find and then post this for us.

So glad you are on this "Team Mollie" thread.

Hope.

I brought this up a few days ago, as the hog farms reminded me of this case. Some were speculating copycat. If this were the case, though, why only take Mollie? I was sure that the guy who killed Kathlynn also killed Lizzie and Lyric, but he was ruled out. Then I thought maybe he had a partner.
(O/T, it turns out MJK was Facebook friends and fishing buddies with an RSO who lived VERY CLOSE to the girls)

Back to Mollie, didn’t mean to divert, but mention how awful if they indeed are searching in the hog pits. :(

Im not sure that its a body they are looking for? Would they really have volunteers traipsing all over a potential crime scene?

I tend to agree. In all the cases I can think of (albeit not many) when they get really close they put only a limited number of LE searchers into the closest expected spot and have the public searchers further out. That's why I'm curious if it's actually public searchers out there.

The vehicles parked along that road just looks so reminiscent of when Mariah and Lucas were found. But we did see that same kind of scene a number of times during the search for Mariah.

Wow - like I need anything else to make this day sad. Just got an Amber Alert for a child abduced at Reagan National. (I live in the DC area).

We know property owners reported to TV9 about the large presence of police and search but there's no indication the photo circulating is live/current of the scene.

What is the exact mileage from the home to this location? Tia. Don’t tell me is 18 to 22 miles.(common number I see in disposals, often referred to as my “magic number”,moo)

622 W Des Moines St, Brooklyn, IA 52211 to 2161 470th Ave, Guernsey, IA 52221
Google shows three routes:
(by vehicle)
15.1 miles / 20 minutes
13.8 miles / 20 minutes
13.7 miles / 23 minutes

People most definitely did get away with this in 1980. And 1880. And 1780. Need I go on? Evil has existed as long as mankind has. In my opinion.

I am curious about the parents offering ransoms. Do you have any statistics indicating how successful this was in having a loved one returned alive? I only followed true crime cases casually back in the 80’s, so I’m unfamiliar.
I absolutely agree. I've been reading a lot of vintage true crime stories recently and the murders back then were every bit as horrific as the ones today. Ransom payments only have any chance of bringing someone back alive, if the kidnapping was for ransom in the first place.

I have read on a Find Mollie FB group posting, that someone reportedly was mowing near a ditch and found a red T-shirt. This is not confirmed.
But, like the Missouri possible sighting, must be investigated.
I hope whatever is being investigated is based on a genuine tip as attention seekers come out of the woodworks in times like this.

MOO but if it is a red shirt that was found, I think it would be pretty easy to identify it as the one she was supposed to wear to work or not. If it wasn't the right red shirt, then I don't think they would waste manpower searching. MOO

Oh no...now that I see all the vehicles there...I'm haunted by this image we have seen so many times here on WS :( Country road with LEO type vehicles on the sides of it.
And an EMS vehicle -- that's the scariest part for me. :(

I do wonder why more media outlets haven't picked this up (or aren't covering it). I thought for sure there would be more photos/live video/interviews by now.

Jmo but when searching for Abby and Libby, no one thought they were dead, it had only been less than 24 hours...jmo
(Let’s not open that can of worms lol, calling off the search at night...btw, hi Cluci :cat: . Hope all is well. Long time no see.)

Having an EMS vehicle might simply be standard protocol, incase she is found alive or someone is injured in the search.

Cops were a lot smarter in 1980, then they are today. In 1980 the family would have gone on TV and promised to pay whatever ransom needed to get their daughter back safe. Then FBI agents would have flooded into the area by the hundreds. Then they would have waited. When the kidnapper finally called the family, the FBI would been ready and tracing the call. By the time the kidnapper got off the phone, probably inside a phone booth, he would have been looking at a dozen FBI agents pointing guns at him. But if he did get away from the phone booth, they would have gotten him when he came to pick up the ransom money. People didn't get away with this BS in 1980. But of course we didn't have dancing FBI guys in 1980.
You’re kidding right? Golden State Killer, railroad killer, tourniquet killer, genesee river killer, Blanche Taylor Moore, Charles Cullen - all serial killers who were active in the 1980s. Timmy White, Adam Walsh, Tina Harmon, Kim sue legget, Toni Jean Gibbs, Jacob wetterling - all kidnapped in the 1980s. How many cold cases on this very site are from the 1980s?
