Following along with you all but haven’t had time to post. Hoping for answers soon!

I have zero faith that this is legit. As of at least 1 week ago a number of fake MT profiles popped up on FB. It’s absolutely sickening (I wish I could type the swear words I’m currently uttering) & I can only hope LE goes after these insensitive ****’s

I read that this has been happening on lots of high profile missing people and some think it is coming from people overseas doing it. No telling what their sick motivation is.

I agree LE should arrest them all.

Does your town not have crime at all? Have you ever searched the sex offender registry?

I have relatives in a small-ish town in SD and they always never lock things....even though there's literally a sex offender a street over.

It's a hard concept for me to grasp. My house was locked and broken into while we slept when I was a kid. And as a teenager, my car (also locked) was stolen. I feel like nothing is ever safe but I'm going to do as much as I can. (For reference...both of these things happened in a moderate sized city in Iowa.)
I have had my car broken into twice, and I personally know four people who live in neighborhoods regarded as "nice" and "safe" whose houses have been burglarized. People like to feel that the place they live is safer than other places, but the truth is that crime is everywhere. Just yesterday, a Safeway in a "nice area" near me was robbed. Lock your doors!

According to the map. There are less than 20 homes in the area between Guernsey and Deep River around Hwy 21. The hog farm they searched earlier is also located off Hwy 21.
Perhaps this is why they searched the hog farm? Maybe the fitbit or phone was pinged from that area and they found the phone today.

Living close to one of the 'big cities' we have everything locked including the dog. We are locked in and 'locked and loaded' with our 2nd amendment rights. Just waiting...
My seventy year old neighbor has the “trespassers will be shot on sight” sign.

IF her phone pinged there...they may be re-searching for any items, not just the phone. But still can’t explain why they would stop so early in the day.

Maybe they found what they were looking for?

Do we know if they had k-9 searching today too?

If they don't have enough probable cause within 48 hours, then they probably don't have the right person. Example when they released Area Castro's brothers. The point is that the police can arrest any person at any time. If they aren't making any arrests, then that means they don't have any POIs. Anybody who thinks they are waiting to get enough evidence, is just wishful thinking.

This has not been my experience at all as a professional who works for an agency that works very closely with LE. The majority of the time, there is an alleged perp and no arrest until after quite a ways into the investigative process. In my experience, LE do not arrest unless/until they are very confident they will obtain the necessary evidence over the next 48 hrs. JMO.

ETA: reasoning has been explained to me that once the POI is released bc they fail to obtain necessary evidence and a warrant in the timeframe, the case is further jeopardized. Even when many times it is the correct POI. This could certainly vary by crime since my area of expertise is child abuse and child witness to homicide or violent crime.

Anyone find it disheartening that perhaps the increase in reward money led to a significant break? It's sad that money is that powerful. It makes you feel like Molly's life wasn't worth $2,000 to whomever came forward but the significant increase in funds was enough for someone to speak. Of course, this is just my opinion....

Yes. This is why I posted a complaint about a measly $2,000 reward, but crowdfunding raising far more than that for the family. I was told that people don’t do it for the money. Oh yes they do, which is why a reward was needed to begin with. Nobody rolls over on someone they know for $2k.

If they found something then they are going to be rushing forensics on the item. DNA will take time, but family to include BF should be able to identify if item or items belong to Mollie.

Jmo I think people used to confess more? Now it seems like even the long-convicted still deny, deny, deny, i.e Scott Peterson, Drew Peterson and almost every other spouse who killed the other.

Maybe we breed more narcissism nowadays, where people are all about themselves, have less of a conscious...that is one of my theories...

If they started at 8:00am, those searchers who have been there undoubtedly need a rest. Sort of like the Thai cave rescue: you can't bring all the boys + coach out at the same time, because the qualified rescuers (in this case, searchers) need to rest before heading out again. I'm sure (or, at least, believe) that they locked down the search area so nobody can tamper over there before the next search.

I hope that it Mollie isn’t alive anymore, that they find her soon so that her family can bring her home. And I pray there will be ample evidence to prove what happened to her so that justice can be served.

Jmo rewards seldom work, no matter how high...yes, people call in when they see $$$ but seldom have real info. I worked a tip line years ago...never took or heard of a tip that was really useful. Jmo

I’m not normal, but I keep my phone in my pocket inside the house unless it’s charging. How else would I reply to every text/email/tweet at the speed of light? #ithinkimayhaveaproblem
I’m the same way.

I never lock my doors . In fact my car key was lost in my car for 7 months. Anyone could have gotten in the car and driven away with it.
I never lock my house and I leave my garage doors open. I have a few dogs but they are dogs of leisure more than guard dogs.
How did you drive your car without the key?

Exactly. You can't arrest someone "depending on the circumstances." You need evidence of a specific crime and charge someone with a specific charge, based on evidence.

At this point, just because there isn't an arrest doesn't mean LE doesn't have a POI in mind. It doesn't mean they do either. We don't know.

jmo

They could possibly be watching more than one POI.

Seems like the next shift would keep it going...jmo

Iowa perspective on locking doors:
My husband was born and raised in Iowa with four generations all living in the same small town. He walks into his relatives houses unannounced and yells for them. They usually respond with, “We’re in the kitchen,” or “basement,” or “Come upstairs.” He has relatives in their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s who have lived in this town all of their life and they have never locked their home, not even when they go on vacation because family will come and go if they need to water plants, borrow something, grab a snack. It’s weird to me, and I lock everything at all times, but this is the farming culture here. Everyone is family and doors are always open.
I would just emphasize that being very common to small town, farming culture. In other metro areas in Iowa most of us have things locked up tighter than Fort Knox and use doorbell/security cams, firearms, etc.
