I realize some members of the family and even some local interviewees state definitively that she made it home that night and was doing things like homework, etc, but police haven't verified this, no? Reason is because it seems to me that the dogs still being in the basement would indicate that perhaps she didn't make it home. An obsessed random abductor would be far more likely to approach her in the early evening while running then in the morning during a quick jaunt to her mom's house. I am new to this case though, so there are likely many holes that I haven't yet filled regarding whether she made it home.

This post from Blissful12 is very possible, in my opinion.

If Mollie locked the dogs up and left the house to walk to her mother's house to get the car before work that morning, I think this is a strong possibility.

It would explain the fact that the dogs were in the basement, her cell phone was with her and there was no evidence of a scuffle in the residence.

Mollie could have left very early that morning - perhaps to have breakfast with her Mom before she took the car to work.

Could Mollie have entered a vehicle voluntarily or involuntarily before her brother contacted her that morning to see whether she needed the car?

It is possible that this was a crime of opportunity.

I've had other theories but this one seems to be the one that makes sense to me.

JMO

And add to that the severe storms that morning. She could have accepted a ride to escape hail or strong winds - from an acquaintance or someone she thought was harmless.

Don't forget everyone to print flyers, put them in plastic baggies and post them around this weekend. You can print flyers from the FB site. It's summer, people aren't always home and they're travelling and may not be watching the news and know about this. The more eyes on the look out for her the better. Even if you don't live in Iowa, someone in your area may have passed through when she went missing and saw something.

Where have all the LE searches/ interviews been?
  • MT/BF’s house on the same day reported missing
  • Corn fields behind house by 200+ community volunteers
  • Online social media
  • Pig farm SE of town
  • Another farm just south of the first
  • Rescue dogs at one of the farms
  • Local bartender for clues who was in town that night
  • Casey’s Gas Station video surveillance tapes
  • Creek north of town
  • Another area SE of town today? Where was that?
Where else? LE is aggressive as MT’s dad has stated.

A 3 hr phone call is totally normal to someone far away you miss.

Would Mollie get in a car with LE if they claimed emergency?

Maybe Dad was talking with Mollie because her boyfriend had called him and really was planning on asking her to marry him while in DR. BF called Dad and asked for his blessing and Dad wanted to have a long conversation with his only daughter about what she wanted in life. A real heart to heart with out tipping her off. jmo

Thanks! Lol you know I am now going to research that episode on you tube and then fall down a rabbit hole which leads to a 3 am video of why there is a hole in a soda can tab
I'm curious why there is a hole. I expect you report back as soon as you know? Haha thanks for the laugh.

And body language during the test, and how people may answer while under the pressure of being monitored.

Or *how* they present themselves for their polygraph. I will never forget the gut punch I felt when it became known that Hailey Dunn’s mom showed up high for hers and it couldn’t be administered.

Mollie Tibbetts: Fox News takes a look at the location where the missing girl is last thought to have been

The article at the link includes drone video... it appears to cover the path MT may have taken that evening. The creepy part is near the end when the drone suddenly reverses direction and retreats from the area at increased speed, and in the dirt below deep-rut tire tracks can be seen, as if the wheels were spinning furiously until they finally caught traction. The tracks are in dried mud. It is unknown for how long those rut tracks were there.

As I commented above: creepy.
That drone was heading the wrong way, a man was interviewed that said LE told him Mollie jogged past his house on West St. And the other interview was with a man that said she was heading East.

Just a thought.. I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this... so I apologize if they have... so many times someone turns up somewhere where authorities have already searched because a Perp thinks “they already looked there so should be a safe place to put her”... maybe not combing for evidence— just rechecking because they have good reason to believe she is there...? Thoughts???

Also, I’m just under 3 hours from Brooklyn and in Iowa we have not only a lot of farmers but a TON of hunters with shooting shacks, deer stands and etc. so she could be hidden out there somewhere.. in the woods here there are abandoned trailers and cabins in the woods all over. I’m not familiar with the particular woodlands they’re searching though so not sure if it’s protected by the DNR or not.

"Search teams on Thursday afternoon were combing through ditches near a pig farm that federal agents searched almost a week ago in the hunt for missing college student Mollie Tibbetts, after a possible clue to her disappearance -- a red shirt -- reportedly was found nearby.

A person mowing a lawn found the item of clothing near the Lincoln Wildfire Reserve, the reports said earlier Thursday."

BROOKLYN, Iowa – Search teams on Thursday afternoon were combing through ditches near a pig farm that federal agents searched almost a week ago in the hunt for missing college student Mollie Tibbetts, after a possible clue to her disappearance -- a red shirt -- reportedly was found nearby.

A person mowing a lawn found the item of clothing near the Lincoln Wildfire Reserve, the reports said earlier Thursday. It was not immediately clear whose shirt it was. Tibbetts worked at a day care; another employee confirmed its workers wear red shirts.

Yeah, this case sort of screams "Holly Bobo" to me at the moment. Hope I'm wrong.

MT had favorite routes, at least three in all IIRC, and not all passed houses along the entire routes.

This has been my thought too. The three hour phone call seems to be in access. I talk to my daughter every Friday evening. One hour is about our limit to cover just about everything. Young people text now. Back and forth quickly. A 2 -3 hour phone call with one's father is one long conversation.
Also something else. I use past tense all the time on the living. She was happy. She wanted to go out to lunch. She had the cutest smile. That surely doesn't mean they are gone or missing. It just means they aren't presently standing in front of me.
They do text rather than talk .If it was a normal occurance to talk for 3 hours, then obviously this is nothing. If there was some serious reason for such a long talk, that's different. The only other option I see is that
And add to that the severe storms that morning. She could have accepted a ride to escape hail or strong winds - from an acquaintance or someone she thought was harmless.
could she not just have texted her brother and asked for him to drive over and get her ? I wonder if she was taken in the very early morning hours, like 4 am ish. The time when most people are at their least responsive to intruders/danger ?
Has LE ever stated that there were no signs of a struggle at the house ? Or that there were no signs of forced entry ?

Farmer: Ongoing search for Mollie Tibbetts happening in Poweshiek County

"On Thursday, the farmer said the search picked back up around 8 a.m. and has stretched on throughout the day. He says divers were searching surrounding ponds on Wednesday, adding that there appears to be a lot of focus on one square mile stretch in the area.

Thursday night around 6:30 p.m., news crews from NBC affiliate WHO-TV in Des Moinesreported seeing K9 searchers with the FBI in the area."
Wow - a lot of activity going on.
