I cannot see her being held...I am aware there have been cases but those cases are very famous for a reason. They are rare.

Also if a fit bit does not “ping” as stated a hundred times here, it could not in itself lead them anywhere unless phone is in same area...correct?

How did you drive your car without the key?

Some cars have keyless ignition, and all you need is to have the key inside the car, but not in the ignition slot to drive it.

Oh my gosh, wouldn't it be something if that red shirt was Mollies!!!

This is kind of crazy! And contributes to my inclination that she was taken early that morning when she left for work, most likely headed toward her mom's for the car. The dogs were locked up, she had her phone with her. IMO its the scenario that makes the most sense.

Can anyone give me a quick update? I'm working a deadline and have little time for more breaks but I see there's action.

FBI...."we can't tell you why she is missing" after a very long pause after question about the general safety of the community.
This little phrase has me haunted as I have never hear LE ever use a phrase like that. MHO is she went missing the morning of the 19th with someone she knew casually and after reading statements made by others in town, I think she is being held against her will, possibly close to house.

So the word "can't" means they don't have a reason why or they can't share the reason why?

BROOKLYN, Iowa – Search teams on Thursday afternoon were combing through ditches near a pig farm that federal agents searched almost a week ago in the hunt for missing college student Mollie Tibbetts, after a possible clue to her disappearance -- a red shirt -- reportedly was found nearby.

A person mowing a lawn found the item of clothing near the Lincoln Wildfire Reserve, the reports said earlier Thursday. It was not immediately clear whose shirt it was. Tibbetts worked at a day care; another employee confirmed its workers wear red shirts.

Mollie Tibbetts search team scours land near Iowa pig farm

Oh man. What are the odds? Finding a red shirt in an area they've clearly had reason to hone in on, in a case where the missing person may have last worn a red shirt.

I know they've done targeted searches before but is there anything different about thus one except the possible shirt?

Feeling sick for Mollie and her family.

I am curious about the location of the red shirt found by someone mowing as mentioned in the article upthread. I wonder if it was found in an area near a road or where it would be easily noticed? My thought with that....if it was near a road and no one in the last two weeks has noticed it or called it in, could it have been placed there recently?

Of course, it's possible it was further in somewhere or that it was down deep enough/covered up that passing motorists wouldn't see it or necessarily think anything of it. To be fair, I don't know that I would stop for what looks like a random piece of clothing on the side of the road. I would like to think I would if it matches the color of what a missing person may have been wearing, but who knows.

They were back in the area of the pig farms today searching. A Red shirt reportedly found by someone mowing. The man who is connected to one of the farms, I believe, gave an interview to the media and said he’s been questioned. The family and boyfriend held a press conference. Reward is now up to $172k.

There was a search today allegedly based on a red shirt being found (not confirmed). They brought dogs in. (At least one dog.) The search was off Hwy 21, close to where previous searches have taken place. The searched area is 15 miles south of Brooklyn and not near where she went jogging. In the video in post 910, the reporter said that they could not confirm that the red shirt triggered the search. The reporter also could not confirm that something pinging in the area triggered the search. The reporter also said that the search spanned different properties, not just one person's farm. the search was down the road from the hog farm previously searched.

Looks like a search is going on again tonight close to where a search went on today. A red shirt was found earlier today. They have k-9s and are also searching near water.

They could do that. What would they gain from it? BTW, cell phone are trackable without any device.

I remember LE used a gps/tracking device on the rental car driven by SW in the Blaze Bernstein murder.
“Sheriff’s detectives had Woodward under surveillance for several days before taking him into custody, and at one point secretly attached a court-approved GPS device to Woodward’s rental car, the affidavit said.”

I'd be very careful about assuming location = perp at this point. The timing is a huge red flag as too coincidental, WC's on the spot interview hits the internet yesterday (or day before, can't remember) enlightening everyone to his past, if I'm the perp and have been looking for a way to deflect suspicion away from myself, I couldn't have been handed a better one on a silver platter. So what do I do, of course I go and plant the red shirt everyone has been talking about near there...

Kinda odd the shirt would be tossed to the roadside (if it’s hers).
