When they took his phone for the night after the 2 hour of questioning

Could they have tracked his movements from that night?
If he had an iPhone they could get a ton of location info, not sure about the others. Regardless, I’m having a hard time envisioning this old hillbilly being capable of abducting anyone at this point.

Hmmmm. If I knew someone had two prior stalkings, I'd take a real hard look at them. I'm not saying he is guilty, I'm stating his movements since the time Mollie was missing should be looked at closely.

It’s a really fine line that we, as sleuthers, and the media need to tread. This is reminding me of the Natalie Bollinger case. She had a stalker and a restraining order against a guy “SS”. SS was all sorts of unstable. It was seemingly a slam dunk that he kidnapped and murdered her. LE was pretty tight lipped for a few weeks on her case. Turns out it had nothing to do with SS, but in the mean time, he had all kinds of death threats against him. He taunted people, but still. It shows how someone innocent of murder but guilty of other crimes can be torn apart in these situations.

Why did he agree to do an interview, on tv mind you, when he had nothing to say though? Seems odd.
not saying I think it's this guy.
I didn't say he was smart. Just that LE has not named him as a POI, but the reporters treated him as if he were.

I feel like Mollie would have told her brother or mother if she had a ride to work, did not need car. And this likely would have come out early on, before nothing at all was being released, maybe when her mom spoke about her not showing for dinner. If they shared a car, it would have to be normal to let someone know she when needed it. So it does not SEEM she had made specific plans on her ride to me...

It seems more likely she was en route to her mom’s on foot almost...except for the lack of texts etc that morning. Seems she would text that she was on her way, at least, that she needed car or ride. I am rambling now but really, neither option makes sense. The one that makes MOST logical sense is that she obscured her plans in order to make her escape as she took off on her own. That would explain most things, except allowing her family and LE to endure this for two weeks.

So...nothing makes sense to me. Nothing works.

is there any scenario where the perpetrator was not someone she knew or a local? if so, please explain how/why?

I generally think the perpetrator is likely to be a local because only a local would know she was staying in that house and staying there alone. (Yes, you can imagine someone who was just passing through town noticing her running and then somehow figuring this out, but this is a lot less likely.) Indeed, I am inclined to think that the perpetrator might have lived in a nearby house, might have seen her run by several times, might have noticed that no one was at the house other than her, etc.

However, the argument against the local theory is that (i) a local couldn't simply disappear without casting suspicion onto himself and (ii) a local - if he didn't disappear - would be observed closely by others and any unusual behavior would be noted.

It could be a local, though, who has thus far managed to appear to be behaving normally.

Exactly like with the old man in Delphi case...

Yeah I dont know what to make of him yet. If he was the real perp then I dont think he would have stayed out with the TV guy. I got a sense he is not involved but I have no idea really.

My leading theory right now is that the perp kept driving and was tossing stuff out the window but he kept on going. I hope LE keeps searching down that road but keep going much further. I have a feeling more evidence like the phone and Fitbit will be much further down the road. I think the perp shut the phone off while she and the phone was still in the car and it did a last "handshake" with the tower right at that time. But I dont think he threw it out window right there. I think it will end up being a couple more miles down the road.

Just guessing right now.

Hopefully they didn’t wear gloves, even though it may not matter given the bad weather

Was he stalking only that woman or two women? Do we know if she was a random woman or a former girlfriend? Thank you for answering my question!
There were two. The other is even older. The impression I have is they are not random.

It would make a heck of a lot more sense if there was evidence. But I doubt LE is going to add anything in the presser tomorrow. Can’t wait to hear what they had for dinner.

One of the main points in the press release on Wednesday is that they prefer that reporters reserve their questions for press release, and that they will be holding regular press releases going forward.

What questions should the reporters ask?

One question I would like answered is whether investigators think there is any connection to any other murdered or missing young women and girls in Iowa.

Yeah its really 50/50 right now for me with him. I could see it going either way. It looked like they got him out of an afternoon nap or something. He wasnt very ready to talk thats for sure. Im surprised he said anything to them at all.

I would be shocked if he is the perp...

Also sort of odd, I swear I seen a news article a week before the WC interview, and this persons initials are JC, same last name talking about the initial searches same area.
I believe the initials JC refer to the owner of one of the first hog farms searched. Need to double check to be sure but could have sworn the name was Chaney or something close to that.

The searches in that area have intensified since they took his phone I believe

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s being swatted. People don’t seem particularly fond of him and he’s an easy target to throw under the bus.

Your post reminded me that families in Brooklyn would have visitors staying with them in the summer. Their children perhaps, home for the summer - perhaps some of them went to school with Mollie before they left for university.
Also, more visitors than normal could be around due to the county fair.

Yesterday I was sticking to the theory that she left on her own because of many reasons but today I think I moved over to a real perp got her if that shirt ends up being hers.

The things that had me leaning to her leaving on her own was that darn wedding and Im guessing she started to feel real pressure to marry her BF. Because the brother was joking to the BF about him proposing to her and also her Dad said in an interview that he would pressure her to marry the BF when she gets found. So I had wondered if maybe during the 3 hour phone call she may have felt pressured to marry BF and decided to take off before the wedding of the brother.

These are real pressures I believe she felt and it really had me leaning that she left on her own. I still think its possible. There were other things too like some twitters she made that alluded to her goals in life may have been changing.

But if that red shirt is hers then I just dont see her throwing it out the window on her own. And the longer this goes on with the national news I would be really surprised she would put everybody through this. So today is the first day I am leaning to a real abduction.
