No we don’t. And we certainly don’t know that a crime had even been committed.@SharonNeedles There's a lot of conjecture going on here. We don't know what anyone knows.

Or, she was depressed and overwhelmed...Maybe something had happened...Way behind in the discussion, but if we were to consider where Mollie disappeared if it happened at 7:45 when she was jogging to her mom's house - thoughts?

Dear Otto,
And also because she would still be wearing her jogging clothes during that time period?
I think I’ve agreed with just about every post, this one included. This is one of a significant number of reasons why abduction is overwhelmingly likely. This sure looks like LE knows what this is, and it’s not a voluntary disappearance.Hopefully we can all agree that LE has budgets and limited resources - and - more cases than manpower can handle (unfortunately)!
Simple math makes it Obvious to me that they know she didn't kidnap herself (Lebowski reference)......
Conservatively - 40 detectives at $50 an hour ( again, conservatively) = $16,000 a day (8 hours - I know it's low)
15 + days and they've already spent $240,000
Add in minimal expenses for hotel, food, gas, et al and you're well beyond $300,000
$300,000 (so far) for a potential runaway = highly unlikely IMHO
There are several possibilities. They aren’t sure. They don’t want to say “kidnapping” for some reason. They don’t want to reveal how much they actually know, perhaps to make a POI feel comfortable. All we can do is speculate though.
I’ll go ahead and create threads for them, give me a few minutes.
Need to double check that is msm...
ETA the links you provided seem to be from the Iowa DPS...going to flag a mod to find out if this is acceptable as a sufficient source.
That’s a really interesting statistic. I love Douglas and Ressler’s books about profiling (that study you linked was co written by them). Mindhunter is probably my favorite but if you’re interested in what goes on in the minds of serial offenders, there’s no better resource than any of their books.I'm with you on a lot of your opinions. This one and the likelihood that she is victim of a serial kidnapper. Most do have cooling off periods. And the median according to this research is 34 days!

I literally did the budget no more than an hour ago and got the same dang numbers. Weird.Hopefully we can all agree that LE has budgets and limited resources - and - more cases than manpower can handle (unfortunately)!

It’s late but I was thinking the same thing. I looked over the state’s missing persons website and I think I have a project for tomorrow. There was at least six young women missing from the Rt. 29 corridor in VA.
Is Rt. 80 a hunting ground?
Trolling for Victims.

Yes. That also supports the point that she was abducted in the evening wearing her jogging clothes, and not walking to her mom's house in the morning.
I guess that's where the "red shirt" comes in. It's possible that she was wearing her red work shirt over her running clothes to work, so where is the red shirt? I can understand wearing the red shirt to work, but not wearing her running clothes from the night before under her red work shirt. Also, her mom said that two of her red work shirts were at home, and ... did she wear the red shirt every day or just for field trips?
Either way, I'm pretty sure she was abducted during her evening run to collect the car.
My thought on a typical route was W Des Moines St., south on Jackson to Front street, West on Front Street to Orchard Street, East on Pershing to Jackson, north on Jackson to W. Des Moines and back to the house. It comes to 47+ minute walk, so it would probably be fairly close to a 45 minute run/jog. After that, she might normally grab whatever she needed (glasses, license, etc.) and walk to her mothers. Does that sound plausible at all?Way behind in the discussion, but if we were to consider where Mollie disappeared if it happened at 7:45 when she was jogging to her mom's house - thoughts?

Anyways, i didn’t post it because I didn’t want to sound cold lol. There are budgetary limits.
Where and why, I have no idea. But there are a whole lot of assumptions in that one sentence... I don't know whether a psychology degree is a path to a great future or not, it's certainly a path to a lot of debt. No idea how strong her bond to her boyfriend is. Seems certain members of the family are a lot more loving and close than others. Not sure she was all that excited about an in-laws wedding in the DR either. It would be fair to say we don't know this girl at all and have no idea what she's thinking.
I just wanted to quote myself for something different, I've never done it before! Since I've been on this kick about her being grabbed in from of the hardware store, I also wanted to add some times here. If she left home at ~7:30 and walked to Jackson because she was texting Mom and DJ, and then started running on Jackson, I believe it would have been approximately 7:45-7:50 when she got to the hardware store. Just something to consider. I have a few thoughts. It possible that it’s not a stranger. It’s possible that it is and he had the cover of darkness. This person may have had a reason to be in the area, and seized the opportunity. What's interesting to me is this town has approximately 1400 people living in it, yet it appears no one has mentioned seeing a stranger or anyone lurking around the town. While Brooklyn is near I-80, what would even lure a stranger get off I-80 to go to Brooklyn?
