Feel like I missed an important chunk here. What are these pics you are referring to? Sorry-so many posts. Trying to catch up...
Mollie had some photos on social media that showed a bit of skin. Nothing overly provocative or out of the ordinary for someone her age IMO

Thanks. It would be hard to keep it under wraps BUT her parents were found in a small town 30 min away in their SUV that had been parking in the back at a busy truck stop/gas station. We were given the 3 days mostly to be able to get off work and go hide. It’s sad but true. We were not allowed to tell ANYONE until the announcement to public. Again, I hope this is not the case. But the DA had come over and told us he wanted the arrest warrant to be SOLID and catch the 2 by surprise before they fled.... imagine if they just said today that they found Mollie dead or had a suspect. The family would have ZERO privacy...
Welcome
Welcome-Word-Stencil-3.5-x-11-N2.jpg
and thank you for the very good points you are making.
Yes just imagine...

Mollie's Dad's new wife would certainly be sharing their excruciating grief with Mollie missing from their lives right now.

She would have known Mollie for a few years and loved her. I was glad to see her there as well. They all share a deep love for Mollie.

They make up a very loving family, although there are two families. They are standing together with their deep love for Mollie. They are all suffering right now and I can't even imagine how they feel.

Supporting one another and holding each other tight is the only (and the best) thing they can do right now.

My heart goes out to all of them.

Mollies dad was just on ABC world news. He believes “she is with someone who she knows, and probably someone who cares about her but that relationship was misguided and misinterpreted and went wrong“ He said for that person Who might have his daughter to “listen to Molly put an end to this you are in a little bit of trouble now don’t make it worse“

Seems that these social media services would do some type of option for their customers. The digital footprint is vital when something like this occurs. Why not ask from the moment you sign up if you are willing to release your activity should LE request it and/or designate someone to be able to request it? That way it's the decision of the customer how they want it handled, could save lives. I think most people would agree to the release. It would be like the privacy disclosure you sign with your doctor.

The father's new wife? Are you referring to the blonde woman who looked rather upset? She was from a Missing Persons org. I saw no other woman there.

There were three blonde women behind the podium at the August 3 press conference, if that is the one you're talking about:
  • Laura Calderwood, Mollie's mother
  • Kacey Auston-Tibbets, Mollie's step-mother
  • Medina Rahnanovic, Iowa Missing Persons Information Clearinghouse Manager
There are photos with captions at this link: Watch Live: News conference regarding the Mollie Tibbets search

ETA: It irks me that they still have not corrected Mollie's name and the captions still read "Maddie Tibbets."

It might be the phone and fitbit were tossed out the window near this guy's farm. And that is why they focused there in the first place. And, then, it turns out the guy may have an interesting history or personality and he gets some extra attention for a time. Some things in life are simply conditions of time and chance. Not everything is nefarious. The police may very well have the phone and not be advertising that fact. We will have to wait and see.

Or it might have been just the phone tossed. Or the SIM card. Or the phone was disabled. There are lots of scenarios.

If I was going to get rid of a cell phone and did not want that traced to me, I would not even bring it on my property.

These are two PC vids I saw. No wife for me! I stand to be corrected as perhaps her part was at beginning? I didn't see second PC live, just this below.

Looking at Mollie’s smiling face in the pictures on her “Missing” posters, it strikes me that really some pictures should be included of a missing person NOT smiling, because if in a kidnapping/abduction scenario, if the victim was spotted (after abduction), it is highly unlikely he/she would be smiling. People’s faces can look somewhat different depending on expressions. But if the purpose of the Missing Posters is more just to bring attention to the case, I guess a smiling/attractive pic is more eye catching. Still, I think one non-smiling photo should be included. IMO

I wish he knew this was the case. What it is is a father's only hope at this point. I feel so sorry for him. I too really hope someone is holding her against her will and she can somehow get released. Statistically this probably isn't the case but it has happened.

Pentagon restricts use of fitness trackers, other electronic devices that reveal locations

This article is somewhat tangential, but that's how my brain works (hence my moniker), so please bear with me here a minute. there are one or two points that interested me relative to MT's case...snipped and bolded excerpts below from linked article:

U.S. military troops and other defense personnel at sensitive bases or certain high-risk war zone areas won't be allowed to use features on fitness trackers or cellphone applications that can reveal their location, according to a new Pentagon order.

It adds, "These geolocation capabilities can expose personal information, locations, routines, and numbers of DoD personnel, and potentially create unintended security consequences and increased risk to the joint force and mission."
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a Luddite, so it's hard for me to even intelligently frame the question, but for those tech-savvy sleuthers participating here on MT's thread, assuming the FBI has been able to gather solid data re: MT's phone/Fitbit locations, movements, etc., at the time of her disappearance, would they also be able to determine how many/what other devices were in the same location as hers up until the time her devices were turned off/died?

Cancellation of Tuesday's Press Conference

During this press conference, updates will be provided regarding the investigative response.

This is the exact text regarding Friday's press conference and the link. IMHO, it will be the similar to the previous press conferences. I hope I am wrong.

Huh. Interesting. The one article I read said that more information would be released. Now this one is saying that there will be updates re: the investigative response. If it's the latter, then I doubt any more info will be released. I'm hoping it's the former and they have learned their lesson from that last dud of a press conference and decided to release a bit more information. I guess we'll just have to wait 'n see!

@PommyMommy
Mollie's father is doing what most parents do : Seeing his daughter as he wants to see her.... and as he wants the population to see her. The reality can be quite different (as anyone with adult children knows)
I think it is also important as a parent to stay positive in case their child is alive. Letting them know they haven’t given up on them. You never know if they are going to see it and lose the will to survive if they think people have given up hope.

They'd have to subpoena records for cell phone towers, data from Fitbit, etc. You'd need probable cause and I think that is a question for one of our attorneys.

Her Fitbit last signaled at or around WC property. That’s what took LE there to search in the first place. Mollies possible 3rd missing red tee shirt was found by a Gardner who was mowing the lawn near WC property. Im sure LE would have already tested it for her DNA. If they have confirmed it was hers they are keeping info close to the vest. There again not to raise flags with the possible perp.
Since there has not been confirmation from LE that her cell phone pinged there and the red shirt that was found was Mollie's, it wasn't clear to me that there is evidence of her being around there after disappearing.

It might explain why the next day at the press conference, her family seemed much more upset than they had in past times in front of the camera. Holding out hope some good news on finding Mollie is about to break!! Bring Mollie Home!!

I suspect something like that wouldn't be worth much and LE would still go through the process of getting it through legal channels. It makes me think of the forms we signed when my daughter was a gymnast. It said we gave the gym authority to get medical attention for our child should we not be there and it was necessary. We even had to have it notarized. Parents were almost never there during practice because they were 4 -5 hours long. Well a good friend of my daughter snapped her arm in half - bone sticking out - gross. The ambulance couldn't transfer her to the hospital without her parents even with that blanket agreement since she wasn't dying. Apparently they don't consider it to be a specific enough agreement. So the poor girl sat their while they tried to track down her parents. Interestingly, I got there before her parents and was her 'emergency contact person'. I was allowed to give permission to transfer her and go in the ambulance.
