‘Just hang on’: Mollie Tibbetts’ parents share theory on her disappearance
BBM
A man who lives near the fields and a hog farm in the search area, (WC) said it doesn't make sense to him that he's been questioned by the FBI at least five times about Mollie Tibbets.

I had only heard about 3. WC says at least 5 times!

Why is he even telling anybody that he keeps being questioned? Seems so strange to do imo.

I don't know if anyone has already responded to this, and I can only speak to the first part. There was some concern a year or so back about service people uploading fitbit data to websites on the internet that show the jogging/walking routes of anyone who uploads the data to the site. There was concern that it was kind of 'advertising' the jogging locations/routes of a lot of military personnel. I think that is what the article is referring to as opposed to something in the fitbit itself.
The logical extent of this is that LE has some idea where Mollie's devices were last giving a location, be it phone or fitbit. It's possible that location was near the farm, and perhaps part of the reason for the search around there. LE hasn't and won't officially confirm such a thing, but it seems like fair speculation. Also, they should know if that location were minutes from her previous location or hours... (meaning, they could determine if she first was stationary at another location and then suddenly transported in a vehicle to another location before the devices stopped transmitting.) You could then cross those facts against tips like the black SUV. If that happened to be along the same route it should raise a flag.

My thoughts.

She went missing on her run. None of her running gear is in the house. Simplest answer.

The red shirt means nothing

The pig farmer....part of me thinks he's a red herring for the media to focus on while LE hones in on their POI

I did think the person was closely related to her...now I'm leaning towards and acquaintance.

This is very much typical 20 year old posting, IMO. She has completed one year of college. She has probably taken one intro psych class. I'm unclear how that would have any impact on what typical young adults post. JMO.
IMO, the VSCO photos are not appropriate for public posting. Do we even know that this was her actual VSCO account? Perp could have taken photos off her phone and created a public VSCO account or added the most recent photos. As a Mom to an 11 year old, I would hope that if the photos on Mollie's VSCO are what most 20 year olds post these days, create private account. Not sure how VSCO works. I believe that Mollie agreed to get in the perp's car, as she knew him (possibly from high school), and took the snapchat selfie in car and sent to bf while in car. Perhaps the snapchat photo was not officially sent til there was a good cell reception and prior to her cellphone not working. This could explain that bf thought selfie was inside but could not pinpoint background. Perhaps she wrote a cryptic caption. Hopefully snapchat company will retrieve photo for LE.

YES, I do. Again, this is because of the murder of my close friends. They were wealthy, all three kids (adults) had jobs. From the first meeting with LE, we had reported them missing. LE asked us how we wanted to do the press. So we were there for the 1st to ask for help in locating. They were found in their car in another town murdered. We were given that delay in the press to allow us to seek privacy and they wanted to arrest the 2 killers before they had any clue. They were def a flight risk. They were also VERY close friends... so this case is starting to make me worry.... I pray I’m wrong
Thanks for sharing this. Since the dad was on Fox today I don’t think the family has been told anything like her body was found. At least not yet. I was hopin the delay was because they were close in a lead and wanted more time before talking to the public again.

I saw that (5 times) this morning and wondered at the time if it was a mistake. Maybe and maybe not. ?

And they are reporting 661 tips now. :)

What is the average age of graduating seniors in Iowa? Mollie turned 19 the May of her senior year in HS. I wonder if she was sick as a child and missed a grade or two.

I think Friday is likely to consist of how many tips, the reward, all their manhours...etc

Thanks, avalonisland, That's a totally new idea here (for me, anyways) that Mollie's snapchat photo to her bf the night she went missing may have been taken in someone's car!! That would explain why he said it looked like it was taken "indoors" when LE asked him, but he didn't necessarily recognize the interior of their house as the background. The white interior of a car could look like the white walls in their house, but his 'mind's eye' noticed in the couple second flash of looking at the photo before it disappeared that he wasn't sure where she was.

LE was later reported in MSM to have asked Mollie's mom specifically if she knew whether Mollie was "in a house" the night she went missing at around 9:45 pm.

USA Today is making a big deal about teenage Iowa missing persons over a 10 day period:
In Iowa, 48 juveniles have gone missing in July. Here's why that number may be misleading.
Glad it got some well deserved national attention. It cannot be that difficult to adjust the numbers for repeating runaways as they have the persons name and if that is what is really skewing the data? I don't understand why someone in State of Iowa govt hasn't looked at how those stats are being compiled and presented to the public as I'm not sure the report the way it is presented currently is all that useful. The woman that came to the press conference seemed to be the bureaucrat/bean counter that puts the report together and not exactly an agent of change as the entire topic is no doubt mired in politics at some level. Aren't there any juvenile or missing person advocacy groups in Iowa to address the reporting issue and request some changes?

I'm not sure this entire issue of missing persons or missing juvi's in Iowa is on the Gov's radar though? I keep searching to see if perhaps the Gov of the State of Iowa would make some kind of statement about ANY of the issues that are being discussed in this case or at least extend prayers or good wishes to the friends and family of MT. Crickets. Maybe its been done out of the spotlight and hasn't been publicized. Keep reading here and other places and getting an earful about the concept of 'Iowa Nice'. I think it would be nice in general if the senior official of the State govt. would say something to the people of her state given that its been 3 weeks in on a missing persons case. Perhaps she is being told not to speak by LE or doesn't want to seem political in the face of what might turn out to be a tragedy. IDK but JMO.

It's not called "Sleuthing" because the situation is obvious. All day every day it needs to be explained that police can't do their work properly by making everything public. Very tiresome.

Bluetooth range is pretty short. I think I know why the Pentagon would be concerned about a lot of fitness tracker usage though. For another reason entirely.
Glad you jumped in. Tried to find your last post to link here but hit the post button before it was linked in.

IMO, "appropriate" varies. I would agree that personally I see the risks in posting such photos. I am a huge advocate for internet safety and actually incorporate it into workshops I facilitate for caregivers. But, from a realistic perspective, this IS what the average young adult posts. A 20 year old's brain is still not fully developed and the prefrontal cortex is the last part to develop in mid 20s. It is responsible for rational decision making and the ability to effectively control impulses and reduce risk taking in addition to other high level functions. Taking "inappropriate" photos and posting publicly would fall within typical late adolescent early adult decision making. Moo.

My personal thoughts are along the same lines. I managed to quickly Google the news at the office today to see if there were any developments. Sadly, there were none. The family's despair must be heart-crushing at this point. I pray that somehow we are all wrong...but I don't think it's going to end well.
