You can't choose who a witness might be. Could be someone comfortable speaking or not. I think scrutinizing a witness statement publicly could be a reason for someone NOT to want to speak up. I'd hate to become a suspect just because I thought I saw someone.

That's a problem for many cases. Maybe the witness becomes the "last person to see her alive" - guess who the new POI is. If I was in the position of this witness, I'd probably go through a lawyer to tell the police what I knew, and try to do it anonymously, because otherwise I'd be "sleuthed" or worse have some locals think they are going to crack the case by acting like a vigilante.

Another thought......maybe she came a cross some criminal activity and the criminals didn't want her to tell. I don't think that's what happened but we just do not know anything about why she is missing.

Isn't this rare though? Criminals usually want to keep low profiles, kidnapping and murdering people is a good way to get the better detectives, state police, and FBI all looking for you.

Have there been many cases where a witness is murdered and the crime they were witnessing wasn't either murder or some other crime with significant jail time?

I get a Tara Grinstead vibe from this case. Someone on the outside-periphery of the victim's known social circles looking in. Too much of a coincidence that MT was alone the night she disappeared. Unless she left clues on social media that she'd be alone, likely someone she encountered IRL in the previous week. Even if the perp simply eavesdropped on a conversation between MT and someone else indicating MT would be alone that night.

Very bold indeed and he seems so confident about it too! Could he have said that as some sort of a tactical move?

Sorry but who is "he" ? I didn't see the original post beth272 was responding to.

I haven't seen it. Tell us your opinion.
I'm still thinking about my opinion. A lot of head shaking but maybe that's his normal. I thought at the end he was ready to cry. Not trying to sleuth him though. I'm sure this little town is beside themselves and quite frightened.
Shire, I know we've been on other threads together. Is there anything about this case that has any similarities to you?

I think it's just because they have nothing to indicate otherwise.

Replying to @JC40 regarding alibis, they've all been cleared by law enforcement.

Neighbor seemed genuine to me. Nervous to be on camera probably but not awkward by any means. He did start crying at the end and I believe it’s because he has a young daughter(I believe this was stated somewhere earlier in the thread... possibly 2?) it’s probably scary for him knowing he saw her and what her outcome could be.

Police say over 2m tall corn fields are complicating an aerial search.

The guy in the video is not the same neighbor that posted on the LE Facebook page. The one that posted on the LE fb Page has 2 daughters

This is going to end bad, i hope not. If she has been (god forbid) murdered, i have a sneaky feeling the person who has done is someone most will say, noooo way.

Gotcha- in the interview there were two bikes on his porch ... so I assume he has kids or grandkids ?!

Edited to add I never saw the LE facebook page with the other neighbor .. darn it

I know. With the amount of info given to the public, everything is confusing.

I feel the same way. Someone no one would have ever expected.

I haven't lived around corn fields but wouldn't transporting a body into a corn field show disruption like flattened areas? Or would they just naturally stand back up?
Also, I think most killers leave a body nearer the road for their own convenience.
We don't know that Mollie isn't still alive somewhere. It just seems to be searching for a needle in a haystack right now. I hope LE and FBI know a lot more than we do.

Rebecca Bletstsch and Ally Brueger. First thing I did was see how far Muskegon Mi and Holly Mi were.
You?

Since there aren't any suspects right now, I think anyone who is named will surprise people.
