If the dogs were in the basement, and typically kept there when everyone was out, wouldn't that support the point that she did not return home from her run?

When police arrived at the house-sit home, did they find the dogs in the basement? Was that typically where they were left when no one was home? As a house-sit, Mollie would not have left the dogs in the basement if she was at home.

If the dogs were still in the basement, doesn't that mean that Mollie did not arrive home from her run? It is described as an "abduction". If so, from where?
Law enforcement has never made any statements of the whereabouts of the dogs. As near as I can figure it, the statement that the dogs were found in the basement comes from a social media post or comment.

I am highly confident, though law enforcement hasn't said, that one or several people had been to or even went into the home Mollie was staying at prior to Mollie being reported missing. Especially considering she wasn't reported missing until 5:56pm and her brother, mother, boyfriend, (and probably others they contacted) knew Mollie hadn't showed up at work and they had been unable to contact her hours before 5:56pm. Thus, I expect the scene at the house (if it is relevant) to be compromised.

I suppose it is possible, despite the less than a mile proximity for many relatives of Mollie or Mollie's boyfriend or his brother's fiance's family, that no one went over to check and/or none of them had a key to enter and the police were the first to go in there but I doubt that highly.

I think one of the relatives has commented on the dogs being in the basement and ok. I recall hearing this in one of the short interviews on one of the local stations (think it was either Fox or CBS). Sorry, I cannot recall.

Thank you! If the dogs were in the basement when police arrived, does that mean that Mollie was at home and was forced or requested to leave the dogs in the basement before she was abducted?

The dogs were where they were supposed to be if no one was home, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Mollie was abducted while jogging. It could also mean that she was getting ready for bed, had removed her glasses, was surprised and still arranged to leave the dogs in the basement.

Any chance she jogged without glasses or contacts?

Anyone know where the dogs were found when police arrived at the house-sit location?

Were they in the basement?

My impression is that they were in the basement, but does anyone have a quote from a reliable source to confirm this?
That was reported by Missing Pieces Network on Facebook, although they may have gotten it from family or MSM. I am 99% certain we are able to use posts from their site in the same way we use MSM posts.
Missing Pieces Network

ETA:. The post on Missing Pieces Network's site does say they got the info on the dogs' location from family.

The Polk County Fair started the night of the 18th.....

I think it’s about 1 hour from Brooklyn but that would have brought more truckers through the area.

Okay. Scene was definitely compromised if all those people were in and out of the property checking on her and the dogs before contacting police at 5:56 on July 19. Any word on where the dogs were when the first person checked on her?

I think it’s about 16 miles from Brooklyn but that would have brought more truckers through the area.

You mean for setting up the fair? Wouldn't they have already trucked everything in by then?

I edited my post above. I think it’s one hour away from Brooklyn.

What I mean to say is that couldn’t that have increased traffic and people coming through who may have snatched her?

There is an msn article that's been linked several times that the dogs were in the basement.

Hmmmmm...could she have been planning to buy a dessert for the coworker’s birthday party on Friday instead of baking something at her mom’s?

With no car, could she have gone for a quick walk to the local grocery store? Not sure about the area, what’s near or how late things are open...but maybe she was abducted at that point.
An msn article interviewed mom and she discusses that at mollies request she had gotten all the ingredients to make the desert.

Not all tips are phone calls. Tips are "clues" that police use to investigate crimes like an abduction. I would guess that the "tip" that led to the farm searches is digital footprint. What's the alternative?

True. But I think they specified tips from social media. Which I guess could be hers. But I took it to mean other people's!

I see how I could be wrong on that.

It just seems like Brooklyn is way off the beaten track for people driving to the fair.

One of the statements that continues to haunt me was the comment about LE asking the family if MT was home at 9:45 pm. I am going to go back and find the exact quote and read it again as I recall the wording being a bit odd. I was unclear from the way the question was asked whether they meant MT was at Mom's house or at boyfriends house (or maybe either house). LE might have been trying to figure out if MT made it back to boyfriends house when this question was asked. I also have to admit to being a bit confused on the 'doing homework' statement. Where was she doing homework? Moms house, boyfriends house or other location? Or, don't we know. So many unknowns.

I hear you! I watched it because we haven't heard much from him and because he is supposedly very close to his daughter. I wanted to understand the family dynamic a bit better and so watching his interview was helpful. My sense is that MT was super close to her father while the brothers not so much. Divorce is always tricky for kids and it certainly seems like its impacted this poor family.

Daddy's little girl maybe. Aww.

Thanks. So the dogs were in the basement when the first person checked on Mollie and the dogs on July 19. That suggests that the dogs were where they were supposed to be when no one was at home. At the same time, Mollie's glasses and contacts were at home. Does she need glasses or contacts to go jogging? If not, she was probably abducted while jogging, if yes, she was probably abducted at home.

Do we know if she ever went jogging without glasses or contacts?

Meredith Kercher was abducted while entering her home and found murdered in her home. Why would anyone take Mollie away from the home if that is where she was abducted? Thinking back to Russell Williams, who took his last victim from her home to his summer cabin where she remained alive for several days before he killed her and dumped her in a nearby hunting area.

Yes, I listened to the Senator from Iowa talk about sex trafficking today and then I did a deep dive on google on the topic in Iowa (surrounding states too!). Supposedly the traffickers bring large groups of people to special events such as the country and state fairs. They advertise oftentimes in a very open and easy to find way. My guess is that they were out in full force around the fair event. The industry itself is a multibillion dollar segment of overall huge illegal sex business. But what makes it so heartbreaking to read about is how the traffickers prey on the young, weak, disabled, addicted and economically disadvantaged. Kudos to the Senator for taking on this issue in Iowa. I hope LE is listening.
