I think it was in thread number 6 or 7 it was confirmed that the dogs were in the basement where they were kept when they were going out. This is why I keep thinking she left to get the car.

yes.. if they were in there, she maybe had gone out unless someone else put them there?!

Muffin posted something interesting as well, I think---

"The dogs were still in the basement which is where she would put them when she left the house. If she was randomly abducted while at home, they would have been up and about. 2) It sounded like she probably intended to go to her Mom's for dinner but never made it or called for a ride."

The first point is quite a good one. I would only add that they would also likely be in the basement if she was preparing to leave the house.

The second point is not as good, IMO, because we know she was working on her computer later that night; so the notion that she was taken prior to dinner at her mom's is no longer tenable.

My last recollection of "dog talk" was Mollie's Dad responding to interview question on FOX where he said the "dogs were perfect... located inside the house." Maybe I'm having a brain fade but was there confirmation the dogs were actually found in the basement versus upstairs after Mollie reported missing? TIA

This is the article that says the dogs were found in the basement, but it isn't a direct quote and I don't know if it's been said anywhere else, so take it for what it's worth, lol:

Mollie Tibbetts searchers get Fitbit information

Has there been any thorough police search of the house? I mean, investigating any loft space, cellars, drains or cesspits. We had case in UK few years ago woman went missing, had all the usual 'sightings' - "it was definitely her" - which all proved false. Police did usual search of the large house, but failed to source a cesspit under the garage floor. Three months after the woman went missing, after they got info on this, her body was found stuffed in the drain, where she had been placed the day she was killed. The murderer was her partner who lived there with his two grown up sons.

I think it is also plausible that someone watched her for a couple of days, learned her routine, and entered the home while she was jogging. In this case, it's also possible that an intruder remained silent until Mollie was ready for bed.

I too think this is possible. And also my own personal worst nightmare.

The red shirt is brought up a lot and i feel she had gotten ready that morning before 7:30 am bc her brother sent the text then and it wasnt replied to. She probably answered the door and was taken at gunpoint. One thing i wonder about is where are her jogging clothes?

do we know she was working on her computer though? it hasn't been confirmed yet, although I think she was. I think LE told the family that and forgot to tell them not to tell the media until it was too late. IMO

Most people have never been close to an incident like this...and don’t know the basics as WS regs do...
Agree. I questioned this situation and the timing when we first heard about it. But I initially dismissed what seemed to be his lashing out in the media to the stress of not only the situation with MT but also his impending wedding - just felt he was blowing off steam. To be front and center in what has become a nationwide FBI led search is beyond what most people have ever experienced and must be hugely stressful and upsetting to all involved. I think TOS issues here means not much more can be discussed about this particular situation.

Reading back through some of what has been written since last night, commenters have identified two scenarios that I find plausible and in accordance with the facts:

1. she went for a walk later that night (a study break)
2. she let someone in early the next morning (she's getting ready; knock at the door)

A number of other scenarios have been proposed that I don't think are as plausible, including the idea that she contacted someone and they picked her up. This could have been that night or in the AM. I find this less compelling because those communications would be known to LE and would have generated a POI. But that is not where this investigation stands.
Or to smoke? Could explain a reason for going outside at night. Reason for no sign of struggle on inside? Lots of young people smoke, vape, etc. My own son tried smoking cigs even though he ran track and was fit as heck. I didn’t have a clue.

Who is Gray Hughes that I'm seeing mentioned??

Clue me in, please!
He is also a member here. I know Tricia allows his You Tube videos to be posted. He did a few really good ones in the Libby & Abby case and in the Long Island Serial Killer case.

A family member reported that LE said that Mollie's computer activity showed she was working on her computer late that night. LE is not going to confirm this publicly, of course, because they are trying to keep their timeline hidden.

I think that is a common misconception. I see that exact same thing posted on every cold case thread on Websleuths, over and over again. If it was true, they would all be getting solved. I can't think of even one case solved with nothing more than publicity. Missy Bevers, crazy publicity, the case went 100% cold. Sherri Papini, crazy publicity, fortunately she survived but they case went cold. I could go on and on. Publicity does not solve cases. The only thing that solves cases is good detective work, either by real detectives or by internet wannabes.
Sometimes luck solves cases too
Hi im new to the site. Ive been following the case and also frequent grays utube chats regarding the investigation.
Not sure if anyone here seen the strange tweet a few montjs ago mollie sent her bf but it talked of her being in a library and being approached by a cop. He told her she was wearing the same pink coat a missing 10 yr old girl had. Idk to me this seems very coincidental. I wonder if theyve questioned this cop? It wouldnt be the first time a cop could be involved. Not saying he is but i hope they looked into this.
This is a strange footprint. Wonder where this library was ? Wonder if there were actually any missing 10 year old girls in the area of this library ? Strange.

Gray Hughes's videos are quite good. He uses Google Earth, Google Maps & Google Street View in really effective ways. He is also a smart, logical person.

It depends on which article you want to go with.

"When her Fitbit pinged at a hog farm about 10 miles southeast of the house in Brooklyn, IA, where she was last seen, police searched the area but found nothing, Mortvedt said."

But her Fitbit wouldn’t ping at all. It connects via her phone.

The bad news about this possible sighting is that it probably wasn't Mollie. BUT, the good news is that it means people are being vigilant in looking for her and calling in a tip if they see something suspicious. I know that long-haul truckers have been known to kidnap women, and it's very easy to hide them. Hopefully they can get the "missing" posters out to all the truck stops just in case something like this has happened.

Are fitbits waterproof? Would you shower with it on?

Is the pig farm they searched on the way to the fair? Was the fair in town the night she disappeared? Could she have gone to the fair that night? I know she was going with the kids from work but what if she went the night she went missing? Dogs would have been put up.

Yeah, it's good that people are being vigilant. I don't like the long haul trucker theory here for a couple of reasons. A vehicle like that is going to be conspicuous, and the victims of long-haul trucker serial killers tend to be high-risk victims (prostitutes, drug users, even hitchhikers).
