My camera's have been off before without catching it for months and they were not off by the same period of time either. For example when I lost power my date was reset then so many days went by before I lost power again which spread the dates apart even more and it was just frustrating trying to get the exact date LE requested. It literately took me 4 days to get the exact date they wanted to footage of and probably a minimum of 80 hours I spent watching the footage to figure it out.

You should set up your system to only record when there is movement. That's the way most of them are.

Think about the chaos this must cause law enforcement.

Except that is absolutely false and can we please stop!!!

Dear Moderators,
This is a global story with added traffic, and understandably taking a toll on your website which is very lagging right now. It would be greatly appreciated if you could wait at least 3 minutes before deleting [my]posts with uploaded legal docs i.e., complaints/warrants for "no link." Sometimes the U.S. Court sites block the web address "copy" first time around, and I have to edit to re-add link address but have never failed to do so. Not all Members here are located in USA, and appreciate direct access to these documents.

Respectfully,
Seattle1

most will not let you set the correct time if the system wrote a file already with the same name/time. most name files by cam num and time. no one wants to turn their system off for a couple weeks just to set the time,

Really surprised that he was running after her and beside her and no one saw this go down.
It does seem like he’s forming a defense ....by working backwards.
He merely tried to run with her , strike up a conversation...she became angry, etc.

Yes and 1st thing you can do is use the lungs God gave you to alert others to your aid. Scream for help and get distance between you and them
Stay safe
I agree with this advice, in general, but it wouldn't have helped Mollie to scream for help on a deserted country road, in fact she may have screamed for all she was worth, and no one was around to hear or see him harassing and then attacking her. From what LEO said in the PC today, he stalked her on her run, was laying in wait picking a location that was isolated and no one would/did see or hear anything.

I think that was his main motivation from the get go.
Since we've heard she would have put up a fight I hope she got him real good!
I believe he mentioned blood on her head, so I'm wondering if she hit her head when she first fell . . .

I was canning, and my friend called me to update that there was an arrest. Just trying to catch up now. Anyone have a summary? His FB or twitter links? I can't go back through this thread with 35 pages already! Thanks!!!

Prayers for Mollie's parents, siblings, and friends. Heartbreaking.

Listening to press conference now. He ran along side of Mollie, she said she was going to call the police. How terrifying! She knew she was in danger. For him to say he blacked out? Ummm, but he remembered all the other details.... No matter how Mollie died, the end result is the same, she's dead.

They didn't approach him until yesterday? I wonder if we'll see the video showing his vehicle or whatever was in that video? I wonder why police never asked for that vehicle? They must have quickly found out who owned it, and didn't feel they needed the public's help. Oh no, police said he told them he had seen her before. I don't know if he was stalking her or just saw her around town, or had same friends?!

385th street... map folks, HELP!

You know what...I used to run a State beach bike path in the dark
(pre dawn) with headphones blasting, alone. I liked to get my cardio in before my shower, drive to work. If I needed to pee, I ducted in a state beach bathroom then resumed my run. I continued this routine even after a girl was raped & killed in one of those b/rooms. I pretty much thought THAT would never happen to me. I was fit , aware, careful but mostly I was addicted to the routine & the high from the run.

This is very important. Why do so many young people have the outlook of, "That's someone else;
it will never happen to me"?
I'm thinking of Mollie out there on route 370 that evening. 7:45; the sun is getting low. Headphones on; Music in her ears, feet pounding the pavement in a steady rhythm, endorphins kicking in... "Nothing can happen to me" attitude.
And then....a black Malibu.
Heartbreaking.

Mollie and his ex were on the same high school cross country team together.
Wow. As more of this story is revealed it will be interesting to see if CR targeted her in advance or if this was more random. Again, either way, it is just so scary and heart breaking.

Well, the site owner said not to discuss either, so.
No they did not. The guidance has to do with "illegal immigration" whihc is a general policy topic and does not refer to the immigration status of the individual. I made no statement on the politics the issue. Do you think politics Prohibition extends to not mentioning or considering of a crime is committed with a gun, and that any mention of a gun in a crime = "gun control"?

This killer was subject to a deportation order as an illegal alien. That is a highly relevant and non political statement of fact the the Washington Post put in their lede.

The deportation order is a COURT ordered US criminal justice PROCESS against this individual. it was levied against this individual with due process.

Does he live alone? I ask that because to the best of my knowledge, you now have to show ID to get utility services. I have to give Comcast my SSN to get broadband service. About the only thing you don't need ID for is a burner phone.

My best guess is that he used fraudulent ID. I'm waiting to hear how CR made his living. I-80 is a major pipeline for illegal drugs. When we drove through there last week, we noticed quite a few IA state patrol cars along the way.

Something to also take into account: Mollie might have been fairly exhausted at this point in her run.

Based on neighbors' accounts, she ran around the town and it appears 385th Ave. might have been the final stretch of said run.

She could have logged up to 3-5 miles already before this monster chased/attacked her.

Perp was running beside her? Right, he really looks like the jogging type of guy. Was he running in his gangsta clothes he’s wearing in his FB photos? Poor Mollie the fear she must have felt is chilling. Rest in Peace sweet young lady. Forever 20

From the information in the press conference, that is what he said he did to investigators. It makes sense, actually, until the blackout part. I try to understand these types (like many do here) and that be a way to avoid talking about something he is not comfortable revealing, or it could be a true description of a frenzy (maybe sexually related) that came over him. Or something else I can’t understand. I don’t feel qualified to say. In any scenario, Rivera took advantage of an opportunity for his own purposes, and he’s caught now.

There was a few open line hang ups on the call log a little after 5:00 PM on the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office call log for 07/18.

Mollie Tibbetts murder suspect ID'd as Cristhian Rivera, 24, living in US illegally
Nicole Darrah
An illegal immigrant stands accused of killing college student Mollie Tibbetts and dumping her body in an Iowa cornfield — after he accosted her during a July 18 jog and she threatened to call police.

Cristhian Bathena Rivera, 24, of Mexico, was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday in Tibbetts' death, officials confirmed.

Authorities said Rivera, who lived in the rural Poweshiek County area, is being held on a federal immigration detainer. He's believed to have been in the area for four to seven years.
The body of Tibbetts, a 20-year-old University of Iowa student, was found Tuesday in a field covered with corn stalks. Her father and two sources confirmed to Fox News on Tuesday morning that Tibbetts was found dead; investigators said later in the day they were working to formally identify the body.
Investigators said they used surveillance footage to track down Rivera. The video showed Tibbetts jogging in a rural area near her hometown of Brooklyn, and also showed Rivera's car. She was last seen around 7:30pm on July 18 after she went for a jog around a neighborhood in Brooklyn.
