I keep seeing posts about self defense or carrying mace or pepper spray as a way for women to stay safe. Personally I wouldn't even risk trying to fight someone off physically or attempt to spray them in the face with some mace that might or might not be effective in detouring someone who is hell bent on doing something heinous. That's why I carry a gun 24/7. Nothing is as effective as a 9mm shoved in your nose. IMO. But that's just me.

We are told there was a confession, but do we really know there was one? I don’t want to sound crazy, but this is the first time I have felt this way about a case. LE telling the family to go on with their lives, then Boom an arrest, confession and body found. Something is off.
Are you saying you think he didn’t do this and that LE planted evidence or something like that? I’d say the chances of that are zero.

This thread was created to find Mollie. Now it is a thread devoted to CR. We need to stop giving him all this attention including the media. He’s not even worth mentioning let alone talking about him 24/7.
I can understand how you feel that way, but I don't think anyone here is devoted to CR or that we are giving him undue attention. We want to understand what happened to Mollie and see that her family receives justice.

He was really short for a man nowadays.

He most likely kept it because only his friends from home would know the real name. Other locals he probably added and they just added him not knowing him. I think he kept a low profile.

True. And there's a whole lot he didn't seem to think through.

The burglary was at a house a short ways from the DJ house

Gotcha. That somehow slipped past me, all I remember was vandalism at the hardware store.

CR used a state issued ID from out of state. I would be curious to know from where and are there any missing young women??
There are more ghosts out there hurting women than you think. There are societies that foster this behavior. So how do we solve that problem? I think in our polarized climate we can not.

What in the world could be off? Of course there was a confession.

You just dated yourself.

Should have said 'Perry Mason' or 'Hawaii Five-0". :)

Loved Quincy. Watched him everyday after my sister watched General Hospital.

One of Mollies cousin's has been on Twitter warning off people who are using Mollies case & family in a political context. She's on top of it. Good for them.
Unfortunately this will case will become a huge political statement IMO

I hadn't thought saying continuing to say her brother was involved was political, but wow you are absolutely right. Glad her cuz is shutting them down.

Cristhian Rivera: Suspect in Mollie Tibbetts' killing gave false ID to employer - CNN

Farm that hired Cristhian Rivera, Mollie Tibbetts' suspected killer, did not use E-Verify system, official says

Cristhian Rivera, charged in Mollie Tibbetts' death, worked at a farm owned by a prominent Iowa Republican family

By all indications it is suspected Christhian Rivera is here illegally. His lawyer stated in his gag order motion that he believed Rivera was here legally because Craig Lang verified he was. This has been corrected by the Lang's. The Lang's later came out stating they used the SS system to verify status, as opposed to the E-Verify system, which they originally stated. Rivera presented them with false identification.

CNN - In applying for the job, Rivera provided a state ID and Social Security card that was verified through the Social Security Administration's verification system, according to Lang. But those forms of ID were not of Rivera, he said.

Fox News - However, Yarrabee Farms co-owner and manager Dane Lang clarified Wednesday afternoon that the farm did not use a federal E-Verify check on suspect Cristhian Rivera, despite the company's claim earlier in the day that it did.

Lang said Rivera provided a state-issued photo identification and social security card. “We learned that our employee was not who he said he is.”

Des Moines Register - Editor's Note - Yarabee Farms, Cristhian Rivera's employer, said Tuesday that they had used the federal E-Verify program to vet Rivera's identity. On Wednesday, officials from the farm acknowledged they had not used the E-Verify system and that Rivera had given them false information.

Also, there are no records of Rivera in DACA.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services spokesperson Michael Bars told CNN that Rivera did not make any requests for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, that might have provided him legal status in the US.

"We have found no record in our systems indicating he has any lawful immigration status," Bars said.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services told Fox News: "A search of records by USCIS revealed Rivera did not make any DACA requests nor were any grants given. We have found no record in our systems indicating he has any lawful immigration status."

Gag Order Tibbetts

In regards to the gag order filing, that is one sad and sorry legal document.

Our family has owned and operated a general contracting company for two going on three generations. I do remember construction workers making cat calls and stuff when I was younger. Although, I will say when my generation, my husband and I, started running the the company we made it very clear that would not go on on any of our job sites! If we catch or are told of an employee doing any lewd behavior while on our job sites. They receive a verbal warning and sent home. If he does it a second time, he is removed from the job site for a full week with written notice. Third time you're gone! We will not employ you again and their immediate supervisor is also advised to be in control of those that they are to be supervising. All of that is totally uncalled for

Thank you!

Do we know what name his coworkers knew him by? Any info on the owner of the car he was allegedly driving? I hate to say this but I have a strange feeling about the arrest in this case. It just seems all to convenient that LE wraps it up all of a sudden. Something is just not right.

I don’t even really want to admit it, but I have a strange feeling about it as well.

They are an excellent family. I hope their attitude affects others . Maybe a change will happen to make some people evaluate some of their views of others. I hope Mollie is a catalyst for change, Reminds me of the Amish and their forgiveness in the school killing

I put out a new house flag today, in honor of Mollie. I'll put it out every fall. It has 3 jars with lit candles inside, hanging from a tree limb...

And it says: "Be a Light to the World."

RIP, adorable, light-filled Mollie. I won't forget you.

I just hope this case being used as a political agenda doesn't ruin the possibility for a fair trial.
I feel so awful for her family and loved ones.
