Goodnight all. Early morning.
Mollie know in your soul that we will continue to join your Family and Friends in seeking justice in your dear memory.
And you will spur us on to every new case that will come.
I've been doing things lately in dear Lucas' memory.
Now ya'll are together. Of this I am sure.
Both of you Rest In Gentle Peace Forever, Chi and Sancha Boo (she's sleeping),

But life doesn't happen in a vacuum. In any crime, there are peripheral factors.
It would be short-sighted to say that the employer doesn't matter here. They matter. They've been supporting him; and Rivera may not have been vetted according to the law.
That's not liberal thinking or conservative thinking; it's just a fact.

The employer has done nothing wrong and has turned over their documentation to LE.

For most employers, the use of E-Verify is voluntary
E-Verify

He is a native of Mexico and English isn’t his first language. Those translators are there so that they can make sure he cannot state he didn’t understand the proceedings and therefore wasn’t able to participate in his own defense.

If it bothers people so much, try thinking of it this way. They aren’t there to benefit CR. They are there to protect Mollie’s right to justice.

Also that we are better than scum like that. Saying he shouldn't get an translator because we want to throw a rage for being sad + mad is very.....ironic. Given that CR is sitting there for taking that same emotion to the extreme. It's an example for everyone that we rise above such evil + barbaric behavior and that we do things the FAIR way, like they should be.

Not 100% certain of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the SSN CR used belonged to someone who is now deceased.
Most likely, the SSN belongs to someone who is NOT deceased, but who has willingly sold their own SSN over and over. Yes, it happens. All the time. This happens to be an area where I have much experience and knowledge.

More than likely, CR used a check cashing service to cash his paycheck and probably has little or no actual identification in his real name with him here in the US. MOO.

I think we have uncovered this town’s dirty little secret. Maybe they were quiet because they suspected something like this from the beginning.
Do you know anything about the agricultural world? Apparently not. If we are going throw people under the bus, make sure it's equally distributed between the employer and the employee. Agreed?

Daily Mail and all that, but this would not surprise me in the least being true. Another woman says he approached her while walking in Brooklyn.

It wouldnt surprise me if he's done this weird stalkerish behaviour to several women in the past but it turned violent with Mollie because she probably called him out on it, as she seemed to be an outspoken feminist on her Facebook page. His tiny ego probably couldnt take it.

Farm that hired Cristhian Rivera, Mollie Tibbetts' suspected killer, did not use E-Verify system, official says

The Mexican national accused of murdering college student Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa last month lived in the United States illegally for several years -- and worked for a farm that used Social Security Administration data in part to vet potential employees, according to officials there.

However, Yarrabee Farms co-owner and manager Dane Lang clarified Wednesday afternoon that the farm did not use a federal E-Verify check on suspect Cristhian Rivera, despite the company's claim earlier in the day that it did.

Lang said Rivera provided a state-issued photo identification and social security card. “We learned that our employee was not who he said he is.”

IMO this is a weird thing to be upset over. Does it sicken you when defendants in other cases get free representation? It’s a GOOD thing that he has proper representation. It doesn’t mean he will get away with his crimes.
Yes. In the United States of America, we believe that everyone should get a fair trial, should have representation when charged with a crime, and should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
As Americans, we believe that a person charged with a crime should have an adequate defense. In my mind, it's better to let a hundred guilty people go free, than to convict one innocent person.

I think we will have a clearer picture in the days to come. IMO there will be more charges slapped on him once autopsy, forensic results are in. For now they have him locked up tight.
Agreed.

Wow, @Charliegizmo49 was just saying that there was more to his history than what has been publicized.
  • Accused killer Cristhian Rivera pulled alongside another girl in his car as she walked through Brooklyn, Iowa, before being accused of Mollie Tibbetts murder
  • The 17-year-old girl's older sibling Bailey Gibson, 18, told DailyMail.com her sister was 'creeped' out by Rivera's advances as he told her she was pretty
  • 'It was more flirty than sexual. She didn’t appreciate it. Even though she knew him a little she felt unsafe and didn't want to talk to him,' Gibson said
  • 'In the end she was really creeped-out by his behavior. She had to keep telling him she wasn't interested,' Gibson added
'It all clicked when we heard the news. It's so scary to think he did something similar with my sister,' added Bailey, who asked that her sibling not be named.

Excellent thought. Not being criminal (or a convicted one) I wondered how this would work. Wouldn't the SSN be able to tell that it is a fraudulent SS?

Is there anyone who knows how to obtain a fake identity (If you have raised college kids you will find one or two that allow them to drink).

Interestingly, my son served as a translator for some of the legal actions at Gitmo during his career in the US Armed Forces. He has only recently shared that he hated this duty as he felt too much legal responsibility rested upon his interpretation of what the "client" was saying. He explained how one can always find more than one word to translate another word into the English language. The words he chose could often times help or not help a "client" sound more or less guilty or innocent. He was brilliant enough to realize he did not want to participate in any judgement before the judge's final judgement and quickly found other assignments more suited to his morals. Would that all souls be so honest. MOO.

Thank you to your son for his service! I thought about this as I was writing my comment. No translation is exact so there's inherently some interpretation by the interpreter. I have struggled to learn a second language so I am impressed by people who are fluent enough to do it for a living! It's a different way of thinking for sure.

Definitely was a hot mess. He needs to stick to clip-ons even though those look cheap. I am looking forward to his next tie. Maybe it will have red, white and blue LED lights.

Have his mother tie it, then never unknot it. :-)

If the dairy hires illegals, do they also hire an equal number of local citizens who also need jobs?
I wonder if the Drivers license CR had been using all these years had his picture or the real person on the DL that was close enough to CR looks. I wonder if the alias he was going by was a victim of identity theft and had reported it? Can you imagine if the real person on DL was driving along and cops pulled him over for murder when it was actually CR? I was parked at Target 2 years ago in daylight to run in use the restroom. I was in the store 5 min before being notified someone had busted out my car windows. My purse was hidden but crooks found it stole my ID, credit cards and $500 cash. Within an hour they had already charged up three credit cards. Cops took a report. Target security got the man and woman on video. She was wearing my Michael Kors purse. It was a living nightmare being a victim of identity theft. I’m still dealing with it. I had to put freeze all my credit reporting agencies. Months later they were arrested and was all over the news. They were caught with over 1,000 DL and social security cards. Along with a machine to make copies of DL with correct photo. It was a huge million dollar identity theft ring throughout CA selling ID’s to illegal immigrants.

Iowa has a large migrant population, especially in central and northwest Iowa. They staff labor at farms, dairies and meat packing plants. It's also common knowledge that their paperwork is fake, they are here illegally but necessary. Google the raid in Postville a few years ago on Agriprocessors. These individuals know ICE does not have the resources and perhaps ICE knows the large companies need the labor. That ham or turkey didn't magically get packaged and sent to the grocery store.

Link, please, showing the SSN CR used was not only fake but a stolen identity? tia

I am curious how the Daily Mail locates people who share stories like this? I am not specifically thinking of any monetary exchanges, but how they find them to report about?

All the same. A pattern (if this is true story at all) of Rivera not having any sort of social barriers at all. He just sees a girl who looks good to him and approaches.

I don’t know any male, friend or foe, where this worked out.
