The trailer on Iowa farm where Mollie Tibbetts's 'killer' lived | Daily Mail Online

That is an interesting link. Photographs of the suspects living quarters.

(Is that the black Malibu in the one photo?)

It appears to be, they called it an Impala but with the spoiler on the back I think it is actually a Malibu.

Fromt this same article

"A friend of the Monarrez family, Christina Evans, 53, told DailyMail.com she had met Rivera at parties and tried to flirt with him, only to learn he had a girlfriend.

However she says that did not stop Rivera trying to hit on Daniela Monarrez, who is believed to be a cousin of Iris Monarrez, his long-term partner and the mother of his toddler girl.

'He was a nice kid. I'm divorced, he's good looking and I used to flirt with him. But he was always very shy and scared, I think I'm a little too rambunctious for him,' said Evans."

No comment needed.

"Evans said she only saw Cristhian step out of line once when he made a move three years ago on Daniela, who attended the same high school as Mollie and Iris.

'He was sat next to her on the couch at a party. He wasn't confident with the girls but that night he acted like a horny young dude.

'He was saying things to her and then he touched her leg. She found it uncomfortable.

'She told one on the guys and they took him outside and told him not to mess with her family.

Prior behavior - previous example of his predatory nature.

"Something must have happened to make him flip. I just had him down as a quiet, shy kid.'

Many predators appear shy because they are socially awkward. Something making him "flip" yeah being rejected. He didn't pull this crap on the girl at the party because there were men there that took him outside and put him in his place. They probably kept an eye on him after that anytime he was ever near one of their loved ones. So he started venturing outside....

I don't think his capture OR his confession is a 'miracle' at all, and I believe that will be revealed as time goes on.

I do find it curious that there are conflicting reports about whether or not CR and his gf were still together. If it's true that they were still together, then that increases the odds that a) he's assaulted her, and b) she would have noticed something 'off'. If it's true that they'd broken up, it's curious to me that a) he'd allow her to leave (if he's a raging psychopath), and b) he didn't attack and rage kill her (that would be a better crime of passion 'fit').

Initially I read that also, that the girlfriend is now living with her mother, implying she just moved there. We also heard it was cornstalks when they first announced the body was found so maybe it was a combination, whatever he could find quickly. About the phone, her boyfriend said it was turned off or the battery was dead first thing the next morning. I don't see him leaving it on though, I would think he turned it off right away and that's the last time it pinged.
I read that somewhere too where she moved in with her mother after his arrest. I surely cannot recall where as there has been so much news lately.

the car pictured is def an impala. a Malibu has a completely different tail light.

It appears to be, they called it an Impala but with the spoiler on the back I think it is actually a Malibu.

Anybody surprised at the details that LE shared i.e. him jogging next to Mollie, the “block/black out”, the ear buds and the trunk? Was it necessary to share his story with the public? Did they try to get that story out so after ME’s findings it would become apparent that the story is a lie?
Did he ever ask for an attorney during the confession-could one have actually been present while he shared that story? I’m just trying to piece together how LE first started looking at him (beyond the footage), and where we are today.

I actually believe his story, up to the 'got angry/blocked out' bit. It has enough particular detail(ie. Running next to her; Mollie saying to leave her alone) without being too detailed as one would do in a lie. He didn't say he accidently hit her with his car and panicked, or some other story that would minimize his role. He basically admitted to Mollie's murder. And then led them to her body.

Although he may very well have said he covered her with corn stalks, that’s not going to be technically correct. He would use corn leaves, much easier to just tear off. The stalk itself would not cover much at all.
I took it to mean the leaves were still attached to the stalk. It would be faster to whack an entire stalk with the same sharp object used to kill Mollie.

A sharp object was the murder weapon. I do not believe the killer used his hands to break off very tall, thick green corn stalks to cover the body.

It’s not hard to break off a cornstalk. Like someone mentioned, when they are broken, they turn brown. This might have drawn attention to the area so it’s likely he just bent the stalks about 1/4 the way up. A few stalks would camouflage a body that deep into a field.

How does the Daily Mail get these stories? Do they pay people for interviews?

That backstory on the subject gives far more information than any American media piece.

Good point. I did read somewhere he had accused her of cheating on him recently. I don’t recall where. Been reading a million places today.
I recall reading the same. I think it was in text exchange with another woman. IMO, just part of his game.

I read that somewhere too where she moved in with her mother after his arrest. I surely cannot recall where as there has been so much news lately.

so my question would be if she moved in with her mother was it because she wanted nothing to do with him anymore or because he was no longer employed by the dairy and the dairy owned where they lived.

Regardless of what LE had on him...it is lucky he took them to her body. He could have denied it or said nothing at all. Plenty never admit a thing...Scott Peterson, etc.

Yeah, honestly if he hadn't led them to her body, I would be sceptical of his guilt.<modsnipped- unnecessary> But when he led them to her body, that was the smoking gun. Case closed.

It will still be interesting to see what type of defence he uses.

Is psychopathy considered a mental illness? What category does it fall into?

A physician can declare a person dead. In legal cases it may be the medical examiner.

In the first case there are criteria to be met.
You are very correct. I guess my only thinking was at a crime scene or a death scene that is not in a hospital setting. But you are correct.

August 21? Thats interesting. I guess they didn't really know what date to use so they just used the date she was found.

the dates are interesting. I can see why use that date for more than one reason though.

He took that away from them too - the date of her death - only he knows for sure. Although August 21st is the day their hope died.

I'm just not onboard with him lacking emotion. If anyone else watched the court proceeding, you witnessed a man with shame (of some kind) & fear all over his face (and body). He barely looked anyone in the eye, and kept his head down the majority of the time (did someone possibly whisper threats in his ear on the way into the courtroom? Possibly. Heck, part of me hopes so. But, no matter the cause, he was clearly scared). I think it's easy to say only someone with no emotion and no conscience could do something so horrific, but that isn't what I saw when I watched him, so my mental jury is still out. After all, rage is an emotion.
I didn't think he looked scared at all, un less it was an intentional act to appear so. He looked cold as a stone, with no emotions whatsoever. His lack of eye contact and other body language does not imply shame, it implies deception. I did not detect fear at all, and if he is fearful, it is because he got caught.

The coroner uses the date she was actually pronunced deceased, which would be the day she was found.

Since the story broke, DM commissioned local reporters and local freelancers. That's how they were able to get interview with Mum (used local reporter).

Corn stalks bend near the ground very easily. One wouldn't have to cut it at all.

Guys! I'm just getting home from work and there is no way I can catch myself up here, these threads are moving way too fast. Can someone just tell me one thing? Do we know her time/day of death? I'm seeing some confusion regarding her obituary..... I promise to go back and skim through later, but this is huge on my "need to know" list. If she didn't die the night of her last jog, where could CR have been keeping her? This is getting so disturbing, poor Mollie.
