Ok I need opinions , specifically because my daughter runs in our well populated neighborhood , we do know all of our neighbors (and she is 30 yo not a baby but very tiny a size 0) NOT Blaming Mollie not one bit either ....But does anyone really think its even remotely safe to jog anymore , I don't and I haven't for quite sometime , nor do I think its safe for my 12 y/o to walk home from school, I have found 7 registered sex offenders within a mile of her school and its a very nice area (which really does not play into things anymore ) I don't think Jogging with earphones especially is safe at all WHAT DO YALL THINK????? I really want to know

I get why she felt safe in her small town. Nobody even drives through. Her entire town is a small neighborhood that is literally half a square mile according to google maps. My own dense neighborhood is roughly the same size and I feel comfortable walking around an hour before sunset even though I don't know 99.99% of the people here. The chances of some stranger passing by my neighborhood is pretty high though, so I carry a high powered flashlight with me...it's enough to blind someone for a second to give you a chance to escape. It's always windy here so mace might not work. I have a few knives but don't carry them because what if a perp has a gun? He's more likely to pull the trigger if I show a knife. At least my flashlight can temporarily mess up his eyesight for aiming while I put distance between him. Mollie has been running around there for years, both for training and for leisure. It's unfortunate that on that day, there was someone there who wasn't supposed to be there.

I am respectfully disagreeing that she was very unprofessional

She was stating the facts of the case based on information provided by LE, homeland security and his employer.

He was trying to spin the facts

She was being totally unprofessional; The employer did a 'U-turn' on his immigration status. So not wanting to comment on it is understandable.

Hopefully he had his phone with him, even if it was off it would still ping off the cell tower. It looks as if a cell tower close to where Mollie was left. I saw this on a map from another site.

According to CR's arrest warrant affidavit, CR used his cell phone to find his way back to Brooklyn from the corn field after his memory "block out". So, another piece of the digital trail that can tie him to the disposal site/crime scene.

I think the truck stop had security cameras pointed in a lot of directions and traffic coming and going from Brooklyn.
That's my thought, too, but the Pilot Truck Stop had to have the same thing, and it wasn't on the map. It was located close to the eastern dots. The answer is obviously in the information we weren't privy to. MOO

OR, did CR head south on V21 or some other route and ended up at the truck stop, therefore MT leaving a digital signal. From there he went south on V18 to 430 then east again, where the far southern digital signal was left at 430 and V21. Maybe heading straight on V21 only looked like the logical route to me. Maybe he wasn't sure where to take her at first. Hmm.

Central Park Jogger
Central Park jogger case - Wikipedia

This case rocked the east coast back in 1989.

Running, jogging became en vogue in the eighties especially... And so did young women as targets. Imo.

Jog with a partner, or in packs, like track teams. Jog with your dog. Earbuds, no, not safe, I will never understand them for outdoor activities. Carry mace, portable taser (I have a purse size, in girly pink). The sound of a taser is scary. And, vary jogging times, and routes. Take up a self defense class. Take up kick boxing.

I always had a jogging, power walking partner. While it's a free world, and I totally respect a woman's right to feel independent, know the risks, is my advice.

Don't run in very public places and don't wear earplugs while running. I would avoidrunning on streets. A school track is a safer alternative. Even then be wary wary when running, focus on what's around you. In some countries women are not allowedwed to run o run in publick
A kid at my college had got hit by a train while wearing earbuds. From that day I never wear them walking/running and don't allow anyone else to

One thing I had to think a lot about, too: I have my Iowa permit and the sole thing holding me back from buying (after a ton of research & going into stores & checking them out) is I don't trust *myself* when I get too depressed. The RARE instances. I don't entirely trust I would give it to a friend and say hey, can you hold onto this a while? That's just me, for now. (Lol, no I'm not depressed as I write this, yes I carry a knife everywhere I go, etc.) Just saying it's a consideration esp. in light of the high number of suicides by firearms in the U.S. Sorry, carry on. ;) added: I strongly encourage women to get a gun. I posted this as just a consideration in the purchase process.

Very sorry about your depression. People who suffer from depression, like myself, should not have guns.

I'm glad they will have that evidence, but find it odd CR said that. He had been living and working in that area for 4 yrs. The field where he placed Mollie's body was only a few miles away from where he lived and worked. The roads there are well marked. There's no way he was lost and needed help to find his way back. Really strange, why would he say that? He's one odd duck. Going out on a limb here, but I wouldn't be surprised if they either discovered his intelligence is below average or he's very poorly educated. His attempts to concoct stories, excuses and alibis are really bad.

It's ok I understand. I have a fear of handguns but not long guns. I have always had a temper which has mellowed with age and I live in a state that makes you do back flips in order to even have a handgun never mind conceal carry. So I did not think I was a good candidate for a handgun and I was not brought up with them. The long gun is actually a great gun for home protection because as soon as they hear you jack that shotgun they are gone. So home protection.

This was meant for feralwriter.

Thanks. I should have taken myself out of the wording in my post, & written "If you..... is one consideration." Oh well. I'm sure others can relate to my concern. Thank you for your reply, lol.

I’m hoping his phone has his whole foot print

Does that mean he used a map to find the location he leapt her?

I’m not really understanding how or why his phone had that info in it unless he mapped it out

Up thread many had hoped that MT had not been raped before she was killed. I shared that sentiment hiping that this was a rage kill and it was over fast for her and not have to have lived through even more horror. I don't know if anyone else posted this and if they did sorry but I noticed something when I read the arrest warrant last night that I overlooked the first time I read it. If the wording in the warrant is intentional then I'm afraid she was also raped :(

"the clothing found at the scene where the body was located and tentative identification by the medical examiner based on information about certain articles of her clothing, the deceased female is Mollie Tibbets."

It states clothing found at the scene where her body was located not the clothing found on her body or on her remains. This suggests to me that either she had her clothes taken off of her and raped her there (awkward place for sure) or she was raped somewhere else and her body was dumped as well as her clothes at the location. Either way there was no reason for her clothes to be removed other then sexual assault.

I have a feeling this thread will be locked soon due to the politics and CNN vs. Fox conversations going on. Little to actually do with MT or the case.

ETA: It is unfortunate to me that anyone is focusing on this. I really wish the politics would be left out, especially since this is the wish of MT's family.

There isn't any discussion about CNN v Fox; I notice you've just mentioned it.

Ok, so basically it’s going to come down to if they recovered the Fitbit to get the whole story.
I had hoped they could get the Fitbit data from the phone sync via the cloud - I read where she used the iphone in the armband. I don't think the Fitbits just "slip" off - I thought they had a catch which he would have to undo to remove it. ugh

He lived locally and abducted and killed her and hid her body. It took LE 5 weeks to find him and arrest him and he led them to her body. It could have taken much longer to locate her without the video footage and cell phone data, etc. She could never have been found.

CR has been charged with first degree murder by the Iowa DA, and will serve life in prison without parole in the USA when convicted.

My comment was about not believing his story. He had a month to put a lot of different scenarios together. Aside from what the cameras show us, I'm taking anything he says with a grain of salt. Maybe not even that.

TA Truck Stop is way closer to where she was found than Pilot is.

Can someone explain to me why he would not be able to discuss if she could have been held?
Because it is now up to the DA to determine what is said publicly is my best guess.

No, I think Pilot is pretty much a straight shot north from where she was found.

I am also wondering if LE has gone back several weeks looking through video (she was home from University) to see if he followed her on her other nightly runs? I am thinking this is not the first time he saw her running and circled around to follow her but perhaps the first time everything was in place for him to make this move - no traffic, no other people, dusk (based on the arrest warrant timeframe).

That is a darn good point... you know he spent over a month knowing this day would probably come and thinking about what he would say. He’s rehearsed this, at least in his head, over and over.
