BBM.

Do you have examples from published sources establishing this commonality?

If he feels his mind superior, why does he fear the public's response?

What do you mean by "not necessarily ashamed"?

Thank you.
Oh boy. Those answers will take time, but there is an incredible amount of info. On the internet that you can research. All of the full definitions are in the DSM , if you can get a hold of it in the library. If he has a narcissistic personality, or is a "psychopath" which is Anti- Personality Disorder, as many have assumed, then he does not feel or even understand, empathy. He feels no guilt or shame for what he did. He feels " entitled". Yet he knows full well what normal people think because he has been around them all his life. People like this are very good at mimicking normal behavior, and can even adjust their behavior according to the circumstances. This is why people always say, "BUT he is so polite, he was very quiet, never would have guessed, etc. Even their loved ones may not know. Scott Peterson is an excellent example. So while they can pretend to feel guilty, they really don't feel it at all. That is why people often say about a killer, " he looks cold, or he has no remorse, in a courtroom. But, like I said there is a huge amount of sources you may find in the library or on the internet. Some people are fascinated with how the mind works, others see it as an excuse and don't even entertain the idea. I think it helps to explain behavior. But that is certainly not an excuse.

I know runners who have these. I have thought about buying one. but IMO it is a tool to surprise an attacker and buy a little time to escape. I would be shocked if this would have been capable of causing Mollie's described wounds. If I have misunderstood the intent of the post, my apologies.

If he's so shameful, why did he not lead LE to her body far sooner for Mollie's sake and that of her family? He confessed because he got caught and because all roads pointed to him and that car, and even then he did not give up any details of his crime. She said something that caused his anger, he saw that her head was bleeding, her ear piece was just suddenly in his lap. Ted Bundy once said something to the effect that he was sorry, or it was tragic, or whatever, that these women "were harmed". As if he was not the cause and was merely observing how awful from a distance.

I don't know what the DSM 'diagnosis' is here, but I call it a lack of conscience from the point of his stalking, to abduction, to Mollie was found decomposing in a cornfield. He knows he did all of that yet he sat out an extensive, expensive and meticulous investigation until he could no longer hide.

It's anyone's guess. That second vehicle threw us all for a loop. One of my curiosities about that second car is if it is a car CR has had access to since he moved to the US, like it's his uncle's possibly.

I once was professional staff at an office the Feds raided, FBI included in the mix. They are an interesting lot. They were there before the office opened for business. They met me at the back door, as I came into work, and asked if I had a weapon on me. They brought breakfast for themselves, and ordered out for lunch (for themselves) and made the staff wait in the lobby till mid-afternoon before we were allowed to leave. This while they ransacked the office and took whatever they thought they needed. My employer had to pay for a specified moving company and the payroll for the hourly rate of the Federal security, at their secure warehouse, to pick-up the files the Feds took.

My point is that LE at this level will take whatever they think they need, and the warrant allows, no matter how tangential to the case. Likely, if the second car was one CR touched, or could have used, it was taken. Maybe they found something significant. Who knows why LE takes some of the things that they do on a search. 20 years later, I'm still trying to figure out why some of my personal property was never returned, in a case involving my out of state employer, in which no one was ever charged!

Is that based on psychology studies, personal observation or opinion... just need clarification, thanks!
It is only relevant if Rivera has a narcissistic personality disorder or something along those lines. It can even apply to Autism. I have detailed below a more descriptive answer. But yes, these characteristics are what account for the Disorder. It is how a diagnosis is made. There must be a certain amount of behaviors present in order to meet the criteria. Although some experts disagree on certain things, the basic criteria is agreed upon. The answer to your first question is yes, it is a combination of exactly all the things you mentioned. There are many ways to measure ANY diagnosis, it is never just one thing. A combination is necessary, (including observations and any one instrument should never be used to determine a diagnosis. As for personal opinion, it is not quite that but rather the conclusions based on the above things I mentioned. The psychologist then makes a decision on a diagnosis. And then there is this problem: Several psychologists can administer various tests and come up with different results. So in a trial, you need to look for consistency. Look at the Jodi Arias trial, for example. ( what a fiasco) does this answer your questions?

I’m new and more of a lurker, so please forgive me if I don’t have the hang of posting on this forum.

I don’t like to carry anything while I’m running. The most innocuous thing can become annoying when you are hot and tired. If I felt my route was dangerous enough that I needed to carry a weapon, I’d either change my route or run at the gym.

I was followed once while running. It was in the middle of the day in a place I thought was safe. It’s terrifying and I think they were “only” trying to scare me. I can’t imagine the fear Mollie felt. I think she felt like her route was safe.

We runners don't typically take a ride with anyone while out running, even in the rain. It kind of defeats the purpose. The only exceptions I can think of would be a terrible lightning storm or an injury.
It's a possibilty; she might have fallen over; sprained an ankle.

Seems like the DA must be confident they can prove premeditation or I believe they could use Murder 2 as a backup and charge with both? Not sure how it is in Iowa, but I think that has been done other places.

They can always add charges, later, if necessary. My understanding of what you are describing, is that a jury can convict on the lesser included charge, and not more serious charges, kinda like picking from a menu. Not what the State AG would want to see happen in this case. But, yeah, I too am curious as to how Iowa does their business. However, if they can convict on Murder One, that's all they need. I was very impressed by the professionalism of both the court and the prosecution at the preliminary hearing. I will be very curious to see how this progresses.

My thoughts are is that he did both but at 2 different locations... the dragging at 1900 block 385 by her feet and the throw over the shoulder 20 ft into the cornfield where she was left.
I am also thinking this....

I’ve been following Mollie’s case from day 1 and today is her funeral. Mollie’s case has touched me so deeply on so many levels. For weeks I’ve prayed for her, cried for her, lost sleep worrying about her, and mourned her even though I’ve never even met her.

Today, it’s like something has changed. While I am still so incredibly sad for her family, I woke up this morning and it is just such a gorgeous day and I felt just a sense of peace for her knowing she is in the presence of God and walking the streets of Heaven. Of course, it doesn’t take away the brutality of what happened but as a Christian, I personally feel at peace for her. Anyway, just my thoughts. It’s so strange grieving so deeply for someone I’ve never even met. I will be praying for her family and friends today. I can’t imagine the pain they feel.

**My opinion only. Not trying to bring religion into her discussion but wanted to share my own personal feelings.**

Until he wasn't in his car because he was busily dragging her, and either committing murder, or covering it up.

I was responding to the post that he found it in his lap when he "came to" in the car. His claim is that he "came to" at an intersection, did a u-turn and went to the cornfield, where he noticed the earpiece, which to him meant his victim was in the trunk.

I just don't see how he abducted someone, got her into a trunk and to a cornfield and arrived with an ear piece lying in his lap. ? I assume the earpiece is a feature of something pretty important or he wouldn't be focused on it. Unless there was a phone attached to it. Maybe. No idea.
I know!! I have temporarily removed myself from this topic because trying to organize the sequence of events has me confused and is turning my mind into mush. I am a terrible typist and basically a technological moron so I keep making typos and my mind is going faster than I can type. I was hoping someone could come up with a few scenarios, map it out, and we can look at it in an organized way. I am visual, so I think that's why its so hard to see it in my mind!
