I'm comparing the license plate to the Nissan's, as well as the tow truck's. They look the same, and at least the tow truck you would assume is Iowa. The Nissan's is a little closer and I think it looks like a smaller word at the top, Iowa vs. Minnesota.

But yes, VERY hard to tell!!

I live in MN and very close to IA. The plates on the Malibu, Nissan and tow truck all have IA plates. MN plates have blue on the top and bottom.

As we are gathered here, roughly 15 minutes from the beginning of the funeral mass for Mollie, that many here will be watching via livestream, I invite any of you that are so inclined to join me in a moment of quiet reflection on the life of this young woman that we all feel like we know now, a young woman that we feel, at least on some very small level, belongs to us all, and say a silent prayer for, or send good thoughts to her loved ones as they face this most difficult couple of hours.

Amen.

Experience has been an excellent teacher for me, this I know lol. And yes, we definitely need to see more of the picture with CR to really get an idea of where he came from and where he was in his life in the recent past to have any clue. I think psychology is really interesting as well as the Myers-Briggs personality test, but only because I'm an INFJ...lol. Don't want to go off subject here so after his hearing on August 31, I will reach out to you via PM here and see what we can discover, if that's okay!
Sometimes people with experience have the greatest "experience."

btw, one of the *best* things about INFJs is their ability to see the "big picture" about things (others *try* very hard to see such "big pictures", and do get a **part** of the view, but...many INFJs can just..."naturally" see such "panoramic views" (my phrase, for want of a better term). Thanks to each WS-er for sharing from your own perspectives -- so big-puzzle-picture --, and to the INFJs for joining in, too! JMOO. (sorry, partly O/T; partly on-topic.)

True, but seeing him around and getting into the car with him are light years apart, IMO. Mom and/or brother was just a phone call away.

I once hit the pavement hard while out running. No idea why I even fell. It was a freaky thing, but anyway, I rolled my ankle hard, gouged a hole in my knee so deep that I still have a scar 7 years later and took the hide off my palms where I caught myself. I was lucky I didn't damage my knee internally. I hobbled the 1/2 mile home. I am speaking for myself, but I would not have gotten in the car with anyone but a very close friend or relative, not even that day.

It might be hard to understand, but I bet other runners will get it. There is a real feeling of freedom out on the road letting yourself go under your own power. But there is also a real vulnerability, too, and it gets exposed anytime someone breaks that barrier of personal space. I have had that scary experience of being followed/chased/accosted while on a run. My pepper spray saved me that day. So that "barrier" of personal space becomes very important and it is ingrained in me that once that is breached someone may not have good intentions. It's just part of the precautionary state of a female out running alone. This also applies to getting into a car with someone other that a very trusted friend or relative. That would be the ultimate in vulnerability IMO.

So I just cannot see her voluntarily getting into the car with him. I will add that I grew up in a town about the size of Brooklyn and lived there all of my childhood and teens. I understand the small town way of knowing everyone in town and believe me when I say, you still did't just accept rides from people just because you had seen them around.
I know the freedom you are referring to. With all these stories of safety measures people use, I feel a little reckless because I don't even think about that. It is scary. I would only get in a car with someone I know , but from what many of the locals have said it isn't uncommon to take rides with people, as most everyone knows each other.

DeKalb county is a pretty rough area with high crime.

I lived in the Atlanta area at one time in my life, for about a year or so. There are some brutal cases that happen with an uncomfortable regularity throughout Atlanta. I lived there around the time that that Meredith Emerson went missing, & I found that case & its outcome both tragic & disturbing.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if CB from ATL is a different guy from Iowa’s CBR. I brought it up because there is a community of combined knowledge on here that can analyze it better than what I am able to do alone. I agree, esp after hearing others input, it’s likely not the same CR.

My thoughts are is that he did both but at 2 different locations... the dragging MT at 1900 block 385 th by (her) feet into cornfield #1 and then throw her over his shoulder and carry her 20 ft into the cornfield #2 where she was left.

Looks like "diminished responsibility" is allowed in Iowa to negate specific intent in first degree murder cases like this one.

FindLaw's Court of Appeals of Iowa case and opinions.

Yes, but CR had specific intent and already told LE as much, so a dimished capacity defence is out. He had the mental capacity to drive a car and stalk her, and approach her but lacked the mental capacity to stop from killing her? That's a fascious excuse, and if true would justify every rape ever committed. It speaks to a lack of self control, not lack of mental capacity.
