Not speaking of this case, I do not understand the reason/s to kill a person? I just do not understand why if there is a SA why kill, take the life of the person that was assaulted? It’s like my thoughts can not accept this finality to any life. It has to be intentional, we are not savage animals, to end another persons life is murder and the person who does kill knows that they did kill another human being.
It’s not an accident to kill when you just intended to assault, oh sorry I just wanted to SA this person and well there was a struggle and so I was what???and then well the person died. It is intentional and to kill to cover up, to avoid apprehension, to hide is absolutle cowardice. It shocks me to see the person in court hearings, I can’t believe this person I see killed another person or persons. It never had to happen is all I am thinking, it was not a life for them to take. But they did and now since caught they spin tales of deceit and lies. I pray for justice!

Yeah, I'm amazed there are people on here trying to figure out how Mollie attracted this savage. Or trying to figure out what psychological issue the savage had for doing this.
I'm not at all surprised people are speculating that he has some psychological issue. People who commit this type of crime often do. Didn't they state they have a team of psychologists who are going to do evaluations? I thought that's what I read. In my opinion, it is what is commonly done in a case like this. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is something must be wrong with someone to do a horrible thing like this. I would hope it's not what most " normal" people do.

I've been gone all day so I haven't read any further than this post; I hope you got some better answers than mine! The thing that crossed my mind was that he hadn't originally planned for things to go as far as they did. He may have used a pocket knife he carries with him, a screwdriver laying on the floor, or any number of things that might be laying around in a car. Then again, he may have planned for things to go exactly as the did, and that would mean he could have brought anything with him.
Well said.

It's still early in the process of bringing justice for Mollie. As more information becomes available we will be able to narrow down the lines of discussion.

Until then the avenues of speculation are wide. JMO

I keep going back to wondering if he even knows the difference between “block out” and “blackout”. It all sounds so forced and fake that part of the story. We have that LE told us part of what he said. But at this point, I still don’t trust a thing he says.

"Today, we need to turn the page. We're at the end of a long ordeal. But we need to turn toward life -- Mollie's life-- because Mollie's nobody's victim. Mollie's my hero."

Rob Tibbetts is the man all men should aspire to be. So impressed with him!!

LE has stated they were not able to see license plate numbers; it is not clear if the plate appears on video or not. LE stated they identified the vehicle by unique 'features' visible on video, not by license plate identification.
Yes correct, but we don't know what other CCTV they've got that hasn't been checked or handed in since.

He got the jump. Even if she'd had a Sig Sauer, he still got the jump, that scrawny *******. He alone decided to kill her. He alone snuffed out her light. He alone decided she wasn't going to be on this earth from now on. He decided she had no right to her life, to any autonomy separate from him. If anyone thinks this was about anything other than him, I'd love to hear it.

Is there anything that Mollie could have done to avoid the outcome we have today?
In talking about the time between first contact and abduction, I don't see much that she could have done.

If we are to believe that she did in fact threaten to call the police, that action is a high percentage play. Most of the time, an accoster will back off at that point, not escalate further. Of course she couldn't know that this guy was likely going to attack her, regardless of what she said or did.

I suppose her only option was to in fact call 911. But she might not have had the time. This in no way blames here in any way, but I think it's important for us to analyze the situation so that we might be able to develop a plan, were a situation like that to occur to us.

Well, not her, but anyone who knew that this guy was an illegal alien could have reported him over the years.

This. And Mollie has paid the price.

Again, there is probably something wrong with them. It is certainly not normal to stalk, run down, sexually assault, and stab someone multiple times with a sharp object, and afterwards hide the body under a bunch of corn stalks!

In that Rivera put Mollie in the trunk regardless, he’d surely have taken her if she’d willing agreed to go with him as opposed to threatening to call the police?

This article more or less describes it... fight, avoid being taken....well known prudent advice that sadly wasn’t successful, if this was the circumstance in this case.

“....Most criminologists warn of the poor survival odds (possibly death by torture) if you are kidnapped to a secluded area. Why does he want to isolate you? Are you wealthy thus worth a ransom? Are you a hostage in a botched retail store robbery? If not, then you’ll be fully at the mercy of a violent criminal, possibly silenced forever afterward.

The above survival options rationale is based on the kidnapper using a (loud) gun to threaten you. But what if he instead uses a (silent) knife? There’s no noise factor to deter him. Yet the same survival rationale remains: if he’s willing to stab you there, he’s willing to do even worse harm elsewhere.....”

If you can last 12 years in Parchman.....
You are,of course, correct. However, she did not do her time at Parchman, another fine southern prison plantation/farm. However, her husband is at Parchman, for the same murder, and will be for the rest of his life!

Agreed. Trying to rationalize an irrational act is hard for those who are rational thinkers IMO. I would be scared if I understood as a layperson why killers do what they do. JMO

**********GRAPHIC WARNING***********
To swab a vagina for semen, you must first have a... Muscle is made of protein, as is the body part in question. The process of anarobic bacterial post-mortem putrafication is the breakdown of proteins and everything else by other bacteria, mold and enzymes. Bacteria and mold will degrade DNA, as it is made of sugars and amino acids; all stuff that bacteria can digest. After 5ish weeks in the Iowa summer heat, in the shade of the corn plants, how much soft tissue will be left to be swabed on the skeletonizing body, in a pool of soupy liquification? Sure, you can get the body's DNA from a tooth if necessary, but what are the chances of finding markers for that small amount of male DNA left with the body, in that mess. And I have not even discussed insect and animal activity. The chances of finding CR's DNA on the body, if present, are likely none to maybe. But the FBI forensic labs are the best, and if any one can do it, they can!
LE could get lucky and have some on her clothes or hair possibly?

As sick as it sounds (and is), there is an urge in some people to commit acts of violence for sexual satisfaction. The act of killing is pleasurable, and serves as a release.

None of us will ever fully understand it, because we can't relate to the idea that hurting someone, can bring fulfillment. It takes a person devoid of empathy, and human connection, to commit a crime like this, and commit it without remorse.

These monsters have existed since the beginning of humanity, and they will continue to exist, and walk amongst us. Its a sad reality, and one that we can only hope to contain.

I seriously doubt it, and I think I know you well enough here to know that it is the farthest thing from your mind, but I fear trying to think of things she could have done to avoid the outcome we have today, almost tiptoes to the edge of blaming her for her demise...JMO

Simply put, women are inherently more vulnerable in our society. To ask if she could have prevented her demise seems.. insensitive.
