So that helps, plus I pulled up a map again to review. So...is her mother's house along that road, coming from town to before that 1900 area? And where is the cornfield from there? Sorry for what may be a repetitive question, but this 385 thing and all the circling/stalking and then abduction area has been confusing.
My map marking skills are NOT great, so bear with me. The highlighted line is the 1900 block of 385. The blue circle is Boundary and Middle St. area. The black circle is 385 and 200. The red circle is where Mollie's body was found.

Snipped.

Maybe he ran alongside her and had a knife to threaten her.

I also wonder how he got her into the trunk.

I think I read they were both 130# and 5'6". So pretty equal there. I will give him some farm work that beefs..no pun intended..you up. But if he was close to her she was in some self defense classes.

I donno I just always wonder how he stopped and subdued her. There fore I went back to Abby and the stun gun.

Re the guns on his FB page. I realize they were not his and only a picture but it does show and interest in guns.

This is not necessarily my opinion, but a conspiracy theorist might say that a family with political ties and immigrant farm workers might slide a few hundred thousand under the table...
They claim to have followed normal protocols in verifying his identity. For farms in general and Iowa specifically, these arrangements are incredibly important to the economy. This farm may have looked the other way, but it’s not at all unusual. They want to wash their hands of this guy, and get back to business as usual. Aiding his defense financially, doesn’t make any sense, business or otherwise.

Ive also thought he may not have had a knife and maybe a rock was used? I havent heard where they have specified the weapon or found anything on his person. Im sorry to say this but he could have bashed her head on rocks. :(

This video gives you an idea of the surrounds Mollie was jogging in, not desolate at all

We know he had a knife, or something similar, because the cause of death was “sharp force wounds.” This weapon has yet to be recovered.

In terms of his initial attack on her, where he was able to atleast injure her enough to force her into the trunk, I think it’s more likely that he punched her than used something like a rock. I think this because a rock would likely cause fractures, and potentially kill her, which doesn’t jibe with the stab wounds being the cause of death.

I stated above that I do not think she was ever in the trunk at all. I think he whipped her into the car hence the earbuds in his lap.

Mollie was barely 5'2" - she'd recently posted about being in the library and mistaken for a lost 10 year! I really hope we learn the truth how CR stopped and subdued her.

The cause of death was sharp force trauma, which makes me wonder if he threatened her with the knife to abduct her.

But, IDK. The abduction is murky. I hope LE are able to clear it up.

That sounds possible. However, then he needs to keep her out of sight as he drives.

I agree, seatle1. When I saw a photo of the little girl in the courtroom my heart was broken all over again.

A 3 year old does NOT belong in a courtroom to see her "daddy" all shackled up. Period.

Most likely not until all the discovery (ie evidence) has been complied and released to the new defence team and they’ve not had opportunity to review it. So we don’t know when a plea will be entered at this point in time or if a plea deal is a possibility.

Rivera hires new attorneys; waives preliminary hearing
“...In other filings filed by Rivera's new attorneys, the preliminary hearing scheduled for Friday, August 31 has been waived and all pending motions filed by Richards have been withdrawn.

No additional court hearings have been set according to Iowa Courts Online...”

Thanks, I'm not surprised at this turn of events, although I was looking forward to the preliminary hearing. I do think he'll need to enter a plea before all of the discovery is done though, that could be a lengthy process.

We'll most likely have to wait until we get further autopsy results to really have an understanding of what happened. CR claims he opened the trunk and saw blood on her head, which would lead me to believe the initial attack was blunt force trauma to the head to incapacitate her, then take her to secondary location, rape and then murder her by sharp force. If the autopsy instead shows no blunt force trauma to the head, then it would lead me to believe he murdered here where they initially met, then took to the secondary location and raped her.

Putting a knife to someone's throat will get them compliant quickly I would think. not saying that happened but is one possible scenario (and one I care not to linger in thought about because awful). MOO

Law enforcement will be able to determine this via physical evidence left in the trunk (blood, hair).

On its face, putting her in the trunk makes complete sense, as it is the easiest method for discreet transportation.

The earbuds could have been in his lap for numerous reasons. They could have wrapped around his hands during the initial struggle, or he could have ripped them off while he was putting her in the trunk.

Right now I have no reason to believe that he is being untruthful in this respect.

He also could have knocked her down and smashed her head on the pavement.

Think possibly he had the earbuds to toss them as they would be loose evidence sitting in trunk. MOO

I had never even entertained this thought until just now, and I have thought all along that CR will plead not guilty, and that this will go to trial. But...many here have noted that Mollie's dad, Rob, has been remarkably compassionate in his comments, including at her service yesterday, talking about doing what Mollie would do (paraphrasing). Anyone think he and the family would let CR plead to a lesser charge, either 2nd degree murder, or even voluntary manslaughter, to avoid a trial if CR admits to doing something in anger and expresses remorse? Were it me, I would want him punished to the fullest extent of the law, but I have already determined that Rob is a better man than I am. JMO

If she was alive in the trunk, she'd be alive now imo. The Malibu has a trunk release inside of the trunk.

Seems to me that would result in a lot of blood, on pavement, on him. He had to go home and if covered in blood hard to explain. Awful visual as well I must say. MOO
