It's not BS. If you think that 84,000 US citizens are going to move to Iowa to live in a derelict trailer in the middle of a farm field, to milk cows for minimum wage, I've got a bridge somewhere to sell you.

There is a way to do it legally.

I found this part amusing

"Absent unusual circumstances, it would be difficult to show they knew any more than what they were told," Teig said, adding that it would be "pretty racist" to assume a John Budd could not be Hispanic.
or just observant of naming patterns. it could happen. there may be a few hispanic "John Budds" being born this week, but it would have caused me to run a 2nd check. Of course, I wouldn't tell the applicant that I'm planning to triple check his application. I really wonder if the company they supposedly used was legit. I am curious why nobody seems to be asking that company any questions. Seems like lots of fraudulently acquired ss numbers over the years would have passed their system as well. Time for an audit.

Exactly. In the era of small family farms, the family worked the farm from generation to generation and that was their way of life.

Now it’s different and agriculture operations have become big business. Not too many young people aspire to become a farm labourer when they grow up.

I am having a hard time feeling sympathy for caring and benevolent, but profitable Yarrabee Farms.

That is for temporary workers. They need permanent workers.

They can stay 3 years then take a 3 month timeout and come back. As I said, the statement is BS

It has been a long day. John Budd, the fake name or real name?? I am assuming fake name. The real name is CR, right?? I always wanted to be named Rachel Barkley.

Well John’s first attorney seemed to hit the nail on the head when he said the farm was turning a blind eye to the illegals and fake documents

I am not being racial or political, but where I live the Hispanics are the only ones willing to work hard manual labor. I am in the SE USA. To run a farm, you need workers. Not defending the farm but laborers may be hard to find.

ETA, I live in a relatively small city , around 10,000 people.

A person who has held H-2A nonimmigrant status for a total of 3 years must depart and remain outside the United States for an uninterrupted period of 3 months before seeking readmission as an H-2A nonimmigrant.

Additionally, previous time spent in other H or L classifications counts toward total H-2A time.

H-2A Temporary Agricultural Workers

That's fine, as long as they are here legally.

Mollie Tibbets reminded me of Dru, both beautiful young women, full of life, energy.
Murder of Dru Sjodin - Wikipedia

Dru's killer, maintains his innocence, his attorneys have stated that he is "mentally disabled" and should not be put to death.

I can easily see CR's attorneys using a similar defense. Mental incapacity, but the element of covering up the body, makes it difficult to really believe that.

When LE first went to the farm to interview CR, I wonder what name he gave them. If he did not give them his real name, it didn't take them long to figure out who he really is.

I think the 🤬🤬🤬 lack of education will be a factor in the trial although it should not be a factor.

The laborers in my area, I doubt are legal but I do agree that they should be legal.

After that many weeks, would it be appropriate to state her body was clothed? I’m thinking not.

She was not skeletonized when she was found, and if she was wearing clothing they should still have been on her - just like Laci Peterson who rolled around at the bottom of a shipping channel for 4 months. She was still wearing clothing.
