In my view, CBR's counsel is doing their job. I don't know how well they are doing it, but...

At least, so far, nobody seems to be dragging MT's name through the mud.
^^rsbm

Except I do find it disingenuous that the defense couple each went out of their way to repeat how "good Mollie" was a victim while using their next breath to drag her boyfriend and neighbors through the mud, -- accusing them of murdering Mollie -- without any basis. They even named an anonymous tip caller and alleged affair partner!

I don't have a problem with the defense team calling witnesses to testify to CBR being a decent, hard-working family member and father. I'm not surprised to see him cry over his daughter while sitting straight-faced looking at crime scene photos he's possibly already been shown. And I don't even have an issue with CBR's ex-gf saying DJ is a racist while she is under oath. Either he is, or that's her honest interpretation of him, and if that might point to something they will discuss later in regards to reasonable doubt, so be it.

I just wonder if the defense is trying to lodge 'reasonable doubt' that DJ, being "racist", could have possibly killed Mollie and planted evidence in CBR's trunk? I can't see anywhere else they could be going with that final question of Ms. Gamboa.

I did note though the similarity in appearance of her and Mollie, cute roundish face, long dark hair, slender physique. He'd already been broken up with her when he killed Mollie, was he maybe taking some of his aggression out on a woman who resembled his former GF?

Defense describe killer as a yes man. IMO he wasn't going to take No from a woman.

No. I think Mollie was selected because she was cute and her run routine provided an opportunity to grab her. Just totally a crime of opportunity.

He told his family he was going on a date.

He eventually admitted that he had driven past Tibbetts three times while she was running that night, describing her as attractive.

He called her hot.

Not only did he admit to following her but he admitted that he got out of his car.

He said wanted to get close to her.

He admitted that Mollie didn't want to have anything to do with him.

He admitted he became angry.

He tolf LE that he did it. He claims he didn't remember how.

Her blood is in his trunk.

(Now go back to the first sentence. He told his family he was going on a date. This is so premeditated it is sickening.)

The "date" thing is perplexing. Was he actually supposed to have a date that night and it fell through and that made him made? Did he just totally make that up? Was it an ominous statement about what he intended to do with Mollie? We will never know since he will not testify I am sure.

MOO --- the date thing shows me premeditation. How many times previously had he seen her running and knew she would be out at that time...

So let's say DJ sneaks home from his out of town job, stalks his girlfriend and kills her, puts her in the Malibu...
How or Why is the Malibu seen driving in circles around Mollie that night? Who was driving it?
And if DJ killed her and put her in the trunk, how did he get CBR to confess to the crime?

I dont see them having a chance to sell this story.

What time are we supposed to be back on?

And there were previous owner(s) of the car.
The person who bought the malibu bought it CBR , so you don't know what the previous owner put in the trunk

Not a chance of selling it, and not exactly a vigorous defense as it's so nonsensical. But then they seem to have a few defense theories, I guess they hope the jury will take their pick? o_O

I don't think CBR had a date on Wed night in question. I believe the "date" concept was introduced to show that CBR did not have to pick up a jogger such as Mollie on the road and that he had other options to meet and date women. We heard about that from women that came forward -- sharing stories of similar stalking behavior -- following them in his car, and messaging them at all hours of the night.

He probably meant he was going out cruising (or more like stalking) for a date.

That is why the defense was hoping that the aunt would know what time his date was. It would have put him elsewhere instead of near molly.

Interesting, we are hearing this all 2nd hand...so, the prosecution cannot actually nail down who the date was with, if in fact, there was a date. Why isn't this considered "heresay"? He "said" he had a date...seems pretty meaningless.

Too bad the prosecution couldn't use any of those women's stories, would have nailed it for me. Creep factor.
