This defense attorney so far seems like he is trying to prove that Mollie did not react negatively/threatening her killer like he claims.

I think this man has no clue about how vulnerable women are when running on country road alone. The nicest most calm person who always deescalates as he said, would still try to save themselves if a stranger pulled their car over and was running along beside them on a road with no-one around. I am pretty sure even super nice kind people have gut feelings about things when they aren't right and no doubt in my mind she knew as soon as he was following her and got out of his car that she was in trouble. No way would most people just stay calm and try to reason with that person.
