I have never, ever heard meters used in U.S. except in science settings by scientists or by foreigners! Not widely used here.
I think that is where they were going with it...trying to plant the idea that it was Ulysses Felix he heard.

"You don't know who they are but you remember one of them happened to use the name Jack?" Yes.

Brown: "You remember the details as you described them here? But you told the officers, specifically Officer Romero, that you blacked out some of the details of what happened to Mollie Tibbetts." "Correct."

"Did they just walk in?" Brown asks of the men at CBR's home. "I wouldn't know what to tell you because I was taking a shower."

"I did not see any car outside of my trailer," CBR says when asked how the men got there.

Doesn't he live in a trailer on the farm ? There are a lot of people on that farm. Nobody saw the ninjas walk up there that day?

One of the other most 'telling and terrifying' moments for poor CBR, which was told and then translated during his testimony, (while directed by the Ms of the defense team) that schockingly we all saw coming....was the moment CBR heard the words " Hurry up, Jack" from the one of the stealth ninjas who was still in the car. You know, the Jack of the Snap Chat Jack.... But, he wasn't sure if it was the same Dalton Jack...

Such utter nonsense. These jurors in Iowa may have literally been raised in or near a barn, but goodness! They are not going to buy into this carp. Such a slap to anyone with common sense and an ounce of intelligence! This defense should be ashamed to have run with this story!!

Did I hear him say that the sweaterthreaters had him pull ahead of Mollie?

I think he was shedding truth cells, just hiding his culpability. Black out becomes mystery Eddie Bauer winter collection men...

He told us he had access to a camo knife.

He may have told us how he accosted Mollie. 6 passes... if he stopped ahead of her run, he could've been feigning car trouble, could have assumed a very non threatening pose... helpful, she may not have realized she was in danger until it was too late.

Disabled her fast and hard.... before speeding to the next location....

I don't think he EVER carried her ...

And I do think she tried to run.

Hence the wounds on her back, hence her clothing in other areas.

Here's the sum of his defenseless defense IMO: SHE MADE HIM MAD. So he killed her.

IMO his fabrication today convicts him. Only the guilty would concoct a story like that. Innocent people don't. Take away the knitwear and all you have is CBR, acting alone, guilty as charged, guilty as sin.

It is very common for defense to offer alternate theories of what may have happened or alternate potential assailants. "it could have happened this way or that way, or it could have been this guy, or that guy. But we don't know." But in this case, CB gets up and tells us what happens. It was almost telling the jury that they don't believe their own story.

^ This! ^

I had read that the jury was getting a bit restless by that point. Surely the prosecution takes note of that and it is probably why they stopped when they did.

The whole story was so absurd that you probably don’t want to take a chance of totally loosing their attention.
I think it's a good sign that they were restless. If they believed his story they would probably pay attention to every word.

well off work finally...
I just have to say I am very shocked today...how bold CBR is to pull this at the last minute.
And I'm very disappointed in the cross but I am not an attorney so not sure what should have been done there.
To me prosecution what caught off guard and that's not good. Maybe he will make up for some things left unsaid in closing. Like wtf really....fully covered men in sweaters...all in black with covered faces get physical outside in JULY and then run off into outer space? They would melt and have heart attacks. Maybe he will point out how ridiculous that is...and that these guys just wait for him to get out of the shower?? They break in and wait around for a guy to finish showering. Maybe he can say a story like that should have corresponding crop circles.
Such BS.

They whole jury has to agree? is that right?
How many are there?

Part of me wants him acquitted....he won't last long out there.

"You never mentioned two other men, is that true?" "Correct." "You told Officer Romero that YOU were angry at Mollie Tibbetts, is that true?" "I think so."

You agreed you saw Mollie Tibbetts and indicated that Mollie Tibbetts became angry at you and threatened to call police. Correct. "You never mentioned two other men to Officer Romero, is that correct?" Yes.

So he made up this whole story about his interaction with Mollie?

It is the most believable part of the story.

This is why they were so concerned with unidentified alleles.
He literally took everything and repackaged his whole story to fit...after the fact.

  • #591
It was important to CBR to clarify how he described Mollie (guapa vs caliente, I gather). That was his big objection? He didn't want that misrepresentation to stand? Wow. Just wow. He realizes he's on trial for MURDER, right?

It's most believable because it's true.

I am not sure how anyone wouldn't have been caught off guard. How does a prosecutor prepare for this story? The defense set up the narrative that her boyfriend was sketchy and maybe did it. Random DNA not their clients involved, he blacked out, maybe interpretation issues, he was tired, maybe coerced confession, etc. Nowhere did they ever suggest up to this point that someone broke in his home, kidnapped him at gunpoint, took him to drive around and find a girl running and then wait in the car while they killed her and then left him in the car with all the evidence to get rid of. I mean how does anyone prepare to cross examine that story?

Even though the question on why the two men would need his help to kidnap Mollie was objected to and sustained, the jury still heard the question and that will remain with them. It makes no sense whatsoever. If they wanted to kill Mollie, why get a third person involved? And then let that third person go? Its just a witness.
That's so true. If they wanted Mollie dead, why did they need this farmworker's help? What did he do other than create another witness?

I was reviewing the media threat from the beginning to see what was being said before to refresh my memory. This was part of what was not allowed in for this case correct? The prior acts were not allowed to be introduced. This is fairly telling. I know it wasn't introduced, but clearly this was a tactic he used by driving up beside girls to talk to them. Doesn't mean he is a murderer, but it does show he did that at least before. So the 2 masked men just happened to do the same thing he had already done before to another girl?

This is exactly why I have been doing critical analysis of this case. It seemed like a "slam dunk". But the defense has come up with an alternate solution for explaining how CBR knew where Mollie's body was located.

We are now going to see what happens next.

So closings are tomorrow?

All it takes is one moron to believe this ridiculous story.I am a bit nervous. The state has to do a very clear and amazing closing to overcome this pack of lies just given to the jury.

I think Dalton kind of rubs people the wrong way. I hope the jury doesn't hate him.In hindsight, the defense did an adequate job now to dirty up DJ and friends, making them scapegoats in this fantasy story.

It would be so frightening, immoral and wrong to allow this killer to walk free from this.
Well, if one juror does believe his story, hopefully the others will be able to talk some sense into him/her.

Tuesday we witnessed CBR show some emotion for the first time when his daughter was talked about in court.

Today he testified he drove the ninja's around and protected them with his silence -- all to protect his daughter and her mother.

I think CBR really believes that his child will believe this fantasy and he'll forever be her hero. What a sick puppy.:mad:
Did this hero ever warn his ex and tell her to go into hiding with the baby?

I agree. On their first cross of DJ, they asked him a question to which he denied having said whatever they said. Mr. Freeze asked him "If I pull up the record would you believe it? " DJ said "yes"
Mr. Freeze then begins flipping through papers, and could not find that particular page. So he dropped it. It was fairly obvious that he was just acting though.

The defense seems really sleazy, from the “Masked Ninjas of Iowa” right up to their questioning. That young man (DJ) has been through hell. He lost his girlfriend / fiancee / love / sweetheart. The defense could have done their job questioning him without being underhanded. They can kiss any desired credibility from this high profile case goodbye. IMOO

Even if CBR insisted that the “Ninja Story” was true, this is not the way to ethically go about this case. A decent lawyer would say, “Look, that might be your truth, but it’s not going to go over well with the judge or jury if we do it that way.” IMOO
