Authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying the body of a man found in western Iowa.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation says a hunter found the body Saturday in a rural, wooded area a few miles southwest of Mondamin in Harrison County.

The body, which had no identification, has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Authorities in a news release Monday said the man was white, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 160 pounds. He had long gray and black hair and no teeth. He was wearing several items of clothing when his body was found, including black jeans and a brown plaid insulated flannel jacket.

He was wearing black Wrangler jeans, a blue t-shirt with a pocket, a blue button-down dress shirt, a brown plaid insulated flannel jacket and a blue hooded zipper sweatshirt with a "Golden Harvest" logo on the left breast area. He was also wearing size 12, Red Wing brand boots.

Harrison County Sheriff Pat Sears said Monday there were no obvious signs of foul play, but, “there’s no reason for him to be there.”

The hunter found the body about 8:30 p.m. Saturday about 10 feet from the Missouri River, about four miles southwest of Mondamin.

Sears said the body had probably been there for a few weeks, but it was hard to know for sure.

With the lack of teeth and layered clothing, I'm wondering if he is possibly a homeless man. I wish we could see the clothing to see if it was well worn. It could also be possible that he wears dentures but just didn't have them in. Maybe he was rushed out of his home?. Either way I'm sure he has loved ones somewhere.
