In a motion for bond review, Megan Staude's lawyer said she is not a danger to the public or a flight risk. They also said the $1 million cash-only bond is 'constitutionally excessive,' according to the Eight Amendment right to reasonable bail.

My mind can't comprehend how two different adults both decide this kind of thing is okay.

She was visibly pregnant but neither she nor her parent had any plan for the delivery or caring for the baby? Both ignored him for 2 days and then did this, of all things?

Poor little baby. He could have easily been adopted.

Updates from 2024:

Judge Charles Sinnard... accepted a guilty plea from Megan Staude to one count of second-degree murder. She faces up to 50 years in prison for the crime...

Rodney Staude is also charged with first-degree murder but his case remains on hold after he was ruled incompetent to stand trial in February of 2024.

ETA:

MS was scheduled to be sentenced in October 2024, but I can't find that update.
