I'm having a hard time with the fact that they're apparently still active on social media and posting random, happy things. (I saw the posts with the screenshots in a Heavy article, but I'm not sure if that's considered MSM.)

How could they be active on social media, aren't they in jail?

Unsure exactly, but I know that with Jodi Arias a friend has continually updated Facebook and Etsy and Instagram and Twitter.
You would think that the first thing an attorney would say is to delete all social media and stay off it - but these folks just can’t quit apparently!
My ex-husband was convicted of sexually assaulting our daughter and not only does he STILL have a Facebook in prison, but he still has photos of our daughter on it. I’m trying hard to get FB to delete it as my understanding is that anyone with crimes against children are not allowed to have social media accounts. Hopefully someone will make these parents remove photos of their children as well since they clearly committed crimes against children themselves...

Iowa mom plans intoxication defense in death of maggot-infested baby

A northern Iowa mom may use intoxication as a defense at trial after her 4-month-old baby was found dead in a swing, according to court documents.

Cheyanne Renae Harris, 21, was arrested in October and charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment after her baby, Sterling Daniel Koehn, was found covered in maggots in a mechanical swing at the family's home in Alta Vista.

The baby's father, Zachary Paul Koehn, 28, was also arrested and faces the same charges. They have pleaded not guilty.

In court records filed after the arrest, Harris reported last using methamphetamines two to three weeks before her son's death and Koehn said he last used meth two months prior.

Zachary Koehn's jury trial is also scheduled for June 11. A judge granted a change of venue in April, due to the extensive media coverage of the case.

Defense attorneys challenge jury pool in Chickasaw Co. child death trial

"MOUNT PLEASANT — Attorneys for an Alta Vista man are challenging the potential makeup of the jury that will be tasked with determining his fate on allegations that he is responsible for the death of his son.

Zachary Paul Koehn, 29, is charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment causing death, and jury selection began today in Mount Pleasant following a venue change at the request of the defense.

Last week, before jury selection started, defense attorney Steven Drahozal asked the court to reconsider the jury pool because of an under representation of Latino or Hispanic people in the pool. He said the under-representation violates Koehn’s right to an impartial jury.

Koehn has a Hispanic or Latin background, according Drahozal, and he is entitled to a jury drawn from a fair cross-section of the community...."
