*Trial Continues (Day 3) (@ 9am CT) - IA - Sterling Daniel Koehn (4 mos old) (found Aug. 30, 2017 decomposing & covered in maggots in swing, Alta Vista) – only for *Zachary Paul Koehn (28) charged & indicted (10/24/17) with 1st degree murder & child endangerment. Plead not guilty; $100K Cash bond.
*Cheyanne Renae Harris (20) charged & indicted (10/24/17) with 1st degree murder & child endangerment. Plead not guilty. $100K Cash bond.
5/3/18 Defense asked for continuance; had hearings on 5/15 & 5/22/18 for continuance. For both.
5/30/18: Trial cancelled, will be reset when venue is identified. Zachary only.
6/7/18: Order of Continuance filed; Change of venue to be determined. For Cheyanne only.
6/15/18 Update for Zachary: Change of Venue hearing moved to Henry Co. from Chickasaw County hearing on 10/29; no update on Cheyanne (on 6/11) as of 10/27.
9/6/18 Update for Zachary: Motion to withdraw counsel; order to set hearing on 10/16.
10/16/18 Update for Zachary: Ruling on Motions; Motion for access to confidential info & motion to challenge jury pool. Change of venue hearing on 10/29.
10/29/18 Update Day 1: After motion for change of venue argued again, jury selection has started. Judge will continue jury selection and rule on change of venue later. The jury was just sworn in. Opening statements tomorrow at 9am CT.
10/30/18 Update Day 2: Opening statements. State witnesses: 911 dispatcher for Chickasaw Co. State plays recording of 911 call Koehn made at 12:55 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2017. First responder from Chickasaw Co Rescue Squad/nurse, Toni Friedrich. Tina Shatek, postal carrier and former first responder who helped Toni Friedrich find the address. Jason Rosol, sheriff's deputy with Chickasaw Co. Chickasaw Co medical examiner/paramedic Jeremy McGrath. Sheriff Martin Hemann, going through bodycam of his interview with Koehn at the scene. Chief deputy Reed Palo. Palo said decision was made to do emergency removal on 2-year-old daughter, placed in foster care at the time. Schreiber (first name?) babysat children. Trial continues tomorrow, 10/31.
