#CheyanneHarris - On interrogation tape Cheyanne is telling the investigator about the day Sterling was born, unexpectedly. She had him in the bathtub. She said Zach was very calm, filled the tub, helped her in.

#CheyanneHarris - At one point Harris tells Calloway for the first month-month and a half she had to have Sterling in a certain position when eating because "he would get so in to it", saying it was almost like he was trying to take in more than he could.

Cathy Russon‏ @cathyrusson 16m16 minutes ago
#CheyanneHarris - Harris says 20-month-old Nala was jealous of Sterling, "she didn't like him".

Cathy Russon on Twitter
Cathy Russon‏ @cathyrusson 16m16 minutes ago
Because of that Harris said she kept Nala and Sterling separated. One time Sterling was in swing in kitchen, Nala knocked it over, so she kept them separated,

#CheyanneHarris - Calloway asks Harris how old babies need to be before you start them on rice cereal. She said she's not sure but she didn't start Nala until she was close to a year.

Cathy Russon on Twitter
Cathy Russon‏ @cathyrusson 8m8 minutes ago
#CheyanneHarris - Harris asked if the baby could have ingested any meds, she says no. She's asked if she were to predict the autopsy findings, what would they be? Harris says Zach keeps saying SIDS - sudden infant death syndrome.

Noise from passing vehicles drowning out part of audio.Agent interviewed Harris in his vehicle. Now there's the beeping of a backing truck

DCI agent tells Harris an autopsy will find the answers, asks if she has concerns.

Harris responds "I can't help but feel that I (unintelligible) him differently. Or I should have checked on him more."

Agent Callaway asked her if it's unusual to go that long without checking on him

#CheyanneHarris - Harris says "I should have checked on him more", says she was taking care of Nala and he (Sterling) always lets her know if he needs something, "so I didn't think about it".

It's becoming clear that with the drug use of the "parents", the dislike and targeted angst of the older sister- poor Sterling likely spent most of his time alone in the room, in that swing. How does a 4 month old infant "tell" you he needs something!!! Outrageous-this case makes my blood boil!

Callaway said Harris never mentioned any physical abuse

No cross examination by defense. Next witness is Dr. Dennis Klein, Iowa Chief Medical Examiner. Did the autopsy.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 3m3 minutes ago
Klein: Cause of death for Sterling was denial of critical care. Manner of death was homicide.

Klein said that extended up part of back. This is an area of the body where there is contact w urine and feces, which has bacteria.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 6m6 minutes ago
Klein: within the diaper, feces was decomposing, like a sludge.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 6m6 minutes ago
Klein: saw maggots in the skin and in diaper. Maggots are 1 of the stage of flies. Flies lay eggs and they develop into maggots.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 5m5 minutes ago
Klein: Sterling's birthweight was 3.02kg, 3.15kg at death. He only gained about 5 ounces, almost negligible growth

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 5m5 minutes ago
Klein: unknown if he gained weight and then lost it. Can't tell bc no doctor checkups to document it. only have birth and death weights.

Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 17m17 minutes ago
Klein: Sterling did increase his height over his birth height. He was able to grow, so no abnormality that prevented growth.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 17m17 minutes ago
Klein: growth was occurring but not enough nutrition to grow at a normal rate.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 16m16 minutes ago
Klein: did tests to rule out other things that would cause failure to survive.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 15m15 minutes ago
Klein: Sterling had brain swelling likely bc dehydration and lack of sodium.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 14m14 minutes ago
Prosecutor Denise Timmins: he had a slow death?
Klein: It probably occurred over days if you include all the malnutrition and dehydration.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 13m13 minutes ago
Klein: found signs Sterling had some periods where didn't get enough oxygen to brain, could have been during birth.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 10m10 minutes ago
Klein: any 1 of the 3 -- malnutrion, dehydration and diaper rash infection --- could have contributed to his death alone.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 9m9 minutes ago
Klein: it gets to a point where so malnourished and dehydrated where couldn't cry anymore.

So Sterling couldn't let her know he needed something.... probably for a few days... Oh this is terrible! No words. Poor Sterling...

I just can't find words...........

Didn't Sterling's grandmother say she took him for 'well baby check' because Cheyanne wasn't strong enough to go out? Doc Klein reckons no trace of any checks done on Sterling. Oh my, I dare not say what I was going to say.

Klein: you'd see that lethargy. with infection would be sweaty and then get cold, hypothermic.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Klein:You'd smell normal feces smell then a sewage type of smell.Would go from a cry to less robust cry to silence.Won't have energy to cry

Klein: Sterling would have pain sensation around diaper.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Klein: "The diaper I saw didn't appear to have been changed on the 29th" appeared to have been unchanged much longer than a day.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Klein: I suspect if he was alive on 29th, he would have needed IV fluids and care in a hospital.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Klein: Sterling was in full rigor when found Aug30. Tells me he could have been dead for 8 hours or more, possible a little bit less.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Klein: Sterling was early stage decomposing when I saw him. If he had been dead for days, would have been bloating etc, I didn't see that.

Lunch break now, Judge said he wants the break before the autopsy photos are shown.

Klein: this has to do with prolonged contact by the skin with feces .. It just gets soaked up along the clothing.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 39m39 minutes ago
Klein: the amount of fat in the abdomen is depleted, and it's sunken, so we can see the rib cage

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 38m38 minutes ago
Timmins: and to prevent this all that was needed was a diaper change and the be kept clean.
Klein: yes

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 37m37 minutes ago
Klein: The eyes are sunken. The soft spot on a baby's head, you get that sinking in from the dehydration. We did see that here.

Klein going over growth chart. Sterling grew a little under 3 inches in length.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 32m32 minutes ago
Klein: he should have been closer to 11-12 pounds. He should have doubled his weight. He was a little over 7lbs at death

On cross, Klein said Sterling had no other injuries, or bruises aside from a minor injury on a hand.

Huntington said he identified the maggots as scuttle flies, a common fly pretty much anywhere in the world.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 7m7 minutes ago
Huntington: Pupa is the in-between stage of development, between maggot and fly

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 4m4 minutes ago
Huntington: Scuttle flies are more likely to be found in garbage and feces, not so much on dead bodies.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 4m4 minutes ago
Huntington: If the body had been dead a long time, would have found a different type of fly.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 3m3 minutes ago
Huntington: Sterling was live when he was infested. Maggots were there for the feces, urine or extreme diaper rash.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 2m2 minutes ago
Huntington: If the diaper was changed, those maggots would have gone away.

Jeff Reinitz on Twitter
Jeff Reinitz‏ @JeffAtCourier 54s54 seconds ago
Huntington: Infestation would have started around 9 to 13 days prior. Started with the smell that attracted flies ...
