*Status Conference Hearing (@ 11am) – IA - Waylon (20 mos.) found in bathtub unresponsive & drowned on Oct 31, 2024 in West Des Moines. - *Kayla Marie Bevar (21/now 22) arrested (11/13/24), charged (11/15/24) & arraigned (1/30/25) with child endangerment-death & neglect or abandonment of dependent person. $1M CASH bond. Polk County
Trial was set to begin on 11/17/25 was continued on 1/25/26.
Judge Paul Scott presiding. Prosecutor Kaily McKenzie Heston. Defense attorneys Andrew Darren Petrovich & Jennifer Larson.

10/9/25 Docket update: [D0066] Other Order by Judge Jeffeyr D. Farrell. Competency has been restored. The placement previously ordered is terminated & the criminal proceedings against the defendant are reinstated. Next pretrial conference hearing on 10/23/25 @ 9:15am & [D0067] Order Nunc Pro Tunc. Trial will now begin on 1/25/26.
