Let's help find more information about this case and help "bring her home." (Her NamUs case was just created in February 2021.)

THIS GIRL WENT MISSING IN 2010, why does her photo look like it was from 1960s or something? How can a 12 year old girl, dissappear 10 years ago, and there's nothing online about her disappearance. She was last seen at her house at 9pm? Ok what happened did she go to bed? Sneak out? See someone? This wasn't that long ago, and we had advanced tech in 2010. This is very sad.

Because she was recently added to NamUs, I assume she is thought to still be missing or possibly missing.

This is the only other official listing I can find besides NamUs.
Missing Persons

I wonder if there was ever an article in the local papers back in 2010. What the circumstances were, was there a search, etc.

I also wonder if LE is still in contact with or able to contact her family.

Bumping up for Yerlanin.

She is now on the Doe Network website:
4104DFIA - Yerlanin Bautista Garcia
Thank you to whomever added her there in November 2021.

I wish we knew who reported her missing and why.
Did her family report it, and she's truly missing, or did someone else report it, and she just be with family/ relatives? There is not enough information available to guess...

I would wager 2010 isn't the real date. She was reported missing in 2010, but maybe went missing long before then.

Good point - with so little information, and apparently few photos, we just don't know.

What was she said to be doing at 9:00 pm when last seen?

I wonder who saw her last, besides the reporting party. Someone who could verify when she went missing - teachers, etc.

I also wonder what the reporting party said and how much law enforcement looked into it. And what neighbors, friends, and relatives had to say at the time...

All JMO.

Would someone here be able to contact the police department to see if this girl really vanished in 2010? This is absurd.

Alright, I just searched the Eagle Rock Newspaper archives and her name does not come up. This is so strange.

Folks, I typically focus on cases where I believe someone has gone missing in a car (i.e., water recovery), so I rarely look into cases like this as they are honestly beyond my capabilities. I just wanted to add that when I first joined this group, I was VERY apprehensive to contact the police or whichever LE agency was handling the case. After being here a few years and making multiple phone calls, I can say that almost all of my contact with LE has been 100% appreciated and cordial. Even in the case I have been tracking that is almost 50 years old, the new detective was more than happy to hear from me and share what information he was legally allowed. In short, do not be afraid to reach out if you feel you can help. Just sayin...

She isn't listed as missing on NCMEC either.

I can't find any records for anyone with the name Yerlanin on Ancestry.

Seeing as you recently spoke with the new detective, is there anything you can publicly share regarding this case?

I ask because this thread is full of folks wondering about her disappearance, especially given that the circumstances are vauge in nature. Someone even went as far as to wondering if she was even missing. I am glad there is a detective on the case, but did you get the impression it is actively being worked on? Or was he simply glad to hear from you because this is an old overlooked case and its nice to hear someone out there still remembers her? In my opinion those are two different things.

While I am glad to hear he was cordial, I am more interested in knowing that they are still looking for her.

Sorry if that comes across as brazen or harsh. If so my apologies. My frustrations are with the fact that cases like this are not few or far between.

Cases like these, particularly concerning young children of colour, are often overlooked. I feel its important to acknowledge and rectify this whenever we can. Or at the very least keep our eyes on cases like this.

I apologize if my post was confusing. It is my fault for putting this in the wrong forum probably. My interaction with the investigator was on a different case and not this one. I simply picked this one to make a general post about interacting with LE.

He talked to a cop on another case, not this one.

Opps and I am sorry because I did not read to the end of the thread. Guess I should go to bed LOL

It seems like either she was reported missing at the time and the report fell through the cracks/wasn't taken seriously by LE, or she was not reported missing until 2021. She has quite a specific date/time last seen but this may have been at an event like a birthday party so that's why people remember.
