Newly released police bodycam video and court documents provide fresh insight into the man accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students, with investigators testing items for blood found in his Washington state apartment in December.
In previously unseen video, Washington State University campus police are seen stopping Bryan Kohberger on Oct. 14, 2022, for allegedly running a red light, the Idaho Statesman reported Thursday. The stop in Pullman, Washington, occurred about a month before the killings in Moscow, Idaho.
During the nearly 10-minute video, WSU Police Officer Isobel Luengas parks her vehicle behind Kohberger’s 2015 Hyundai Elantra in a parking lot. Luengas approaches Kohberger as he sits in the car and she says he drove through a red light. She asks for Kohberger’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.

According to her website, Massoth is qualified to defend clients charged with the death penalty. She is Idaho's Criminal Justice Panel representative and the former president of the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The family of Kaylee Goncalves has filed a motion asking to be released from the gag order, citing their first amendment rights. Kohberger’s attorneys have argued the gag order is critical to ensure their client receives a fair trial.
A hearing on the Goncalves family‘s motion is scheduled for May 22. Kohberger is scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on June 26.
"I can't wait to see the evidence. ... And then I'm gonna bring it," Kaylee's dad, Steve Goncalves, told ABC News. "And he's gonna realize that this ... is the family that's gonna make sure he doesn't get away with it."
The family of Kaylee Goncalves, one of the four University of Idaho students murdered late last year, is speaking out.

"I think a big thing is for us to go in strong, united as a family," Kristi Goncalves said. "I've never been to a preliminary trial before. ... I have no idea what to expect, I have no idea what we're going to hear. ... But I know that I've got my son, and my daughter will be there, and my sister, and my husband."
But Kristi Goncalves said she'll try to avoid the courtroom during any graphic testimony.
"I'm not going to scar myself," she said. "I have visions of my own that, you know, I have to deal with."
Graduation at the University of Idaho is this Saturday. The Goncalves will be there to receive Kaylee's posthumous degree.

Newly released court documents in the Idaho murder case revealed that during a search of Bryan Kohberger’s apartment, investigators discovered traces of blood in his bedroom and uncovered a previously unknown storage unit belonging to the murder suspect.
According to the new documents, when police approached the storage closet belonging to Kohberger - nearly two months after the quarduple homicide of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle - it was unlocked, the door was ‘ajar'. Cops reported that it was dusty with ‘cobwebs’.
No trace evidence was taken and police didn't believe Kohberger had used it 'recently,' but the unit's existence may still provide a big lead for law enforcement. It's plausible that Kohberger may have accessed the unit weeks earlier, closer to the time when the murders took place.
Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four near the University of Idaho campus, has received more than two dozen 'handwritten' love letters as he awaits trial for the brutal killings.

An employee at the jail, who did not reveal their name, but has frequent contact with the inmate told The Messenger 'it's disturbing.'
'He gets these letters a couple of times a week...they're usually handwritten with hearts and stars...colored envelopes,' he said. 'Everyone in the jail talks about how weird it is.'
It is unclear what these letters exactly say, but it appears that many are confessing their love to Kohberger and believe he is innocent in the brutal slayings, a source told the news outlet.
It also remains unclear if Kohberger is responding to these letters.
Posthumous bachelor's degrees were awarded to the families of University of Idaho students Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, who were both seniors at the time of the November 13 slayings.

The four students were recognized during the university's May 13 graduation ceremonies, along with another student who recently died in a car accident, and nearly 3,000 new graduates.
'Madison's family will always be members of the Vandal family,' University President Scott Green said during the ceremony.
'So, thank you for joining us today to celebrate her academic achievements and contributions to the University of Idaho.'
Goncalves' family received a posthumous bachelor's degree in general studies on behalf of their daughter during the second commencement ceremony later in the day on Saturday.
