Brian Sangjoon Lee, 21, served a nine month prison sentence as part as a "rider" program. He pleaded guilty to the kidnapping charge in March of 2022. Inmates who are given a rider can either be released on probation for good behavior or sentenced to their full prison sentence, which in Lee's case, would have been 10 years.

Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue is frustrated with the court's decision to release a man who was charged with kidnapping when he was found with an 11-year-old girl in a hotel in August of 2021.

Inmates who are given a rider can either be released on probation for good behavior or sentenced to their full prison sentence, which in Lee's case, would have been 10 years.

Beyond Comprehension: Canyon Co. Sheriff reacts to release of kidnapper

Truly unbelievable!!

On May 24th, 2022, Lee had a sentence hearing where prosecutors recommended the judge impose a prison sentence of five years fixed, followed by fifteen years indetermined. Instead, Judge Grove sentenced Lee to two years fixed, followed by eight years indeterminate, but retained jurisdiction and placed him on a rider.

During Lee's rider review hearing on January 23, 2023, Judge Grove placed him on five years of probation.

Who is this Judge Grove?
The perpetrator groomed the girl and traveled across state lines. He had a special room prepared for her back at his parents' home.

Everything I have to say violates TOS and the laws of my state.

GRRRR! IMHO this is beyond awful. I wonder how the judge will feel if/when this happens again?! The family of the victim must be devastated and angry. This guy spent TIME grooming this child. Now that he will be free, where ever he goes people will want to watch their children.

We have seen this story in the past. These guys are incorrigble and can't be redeemed. But sure, let's let him go to see what happens! What??

I think the judge should be held personally responsible if this guy re-offends.
