JM could have already been in conference with an attorney and is just gathering the funds for the retainer. Until the contract is signed and fees are paid, there will be no announcement on her legal representation.

Neither one needs an attorney right now, all they have to do is refuse to speak to LE. If and when charges are levied then they need a lawyer. There is nothing a lawyer can do for them right now except to speak to the media on their behalf. Although the attorney can try to speak to witnesses and LE, they will just refuse him. A defendant has the right to see all the evidence against him but not a suspect.

DK wasn't the one that brought up the filthy, bawling baby, it was JM in response to a Nate question "what rumors would you like to address?" and JM brought up this one about the clerk seeing the baby and man.

DK's behavior is the most hinkey. JM looks angry and devastated and she looks mad at DK -especially in the interview done at the home where she is being held up on both sides. DK looks like a racoon cornered on a hot tin roof, afraid to jump but his feet are burning.

Just my opinion. Your is surely different.

Just my opinion.

Thanks TeaTime! Idk the technicalities of the legal stuff too well so wanted to get others' take on it. I still haven't seen the interview of them at home and I can't seem to find it, unless I am looking in the wrong spot. I do get the impression JM looks mad though. More distraught than DK, that is for sure but like we have all been saying, everybody handles stress and trauma differently, IMO.

IMO, they do not have enough evidence to charge the parents at this time. For one thing, SB stated himself that they know the parents have been "less than truthful", and he believes the parents might know DeOrr's location. Beyond that, they don't know the facts.

Secondly, imho, if LE had sufficient evidence to charge the parents, even circumstantial, they would know whether he was dead or alive, or suffered an accident as opposed to intentional harm. SB et al might have a pretty good notion of what transpired, but not the evidence to make charges stick.

JMO

Listen to SB at about 7:10 here.

ETA: For the member who questioned whether SB asked the public for information regarding "unusual interaction" between the parents and DeOrr, you can hear it yourself at 1:10 in the audio recording.

Bessie, at this point, do you think that LE would come out with all of the facts they know? I am considering that they might not be sharing everything with us. Do you think that is possible? Or, in your experience, does it work differently than I am thinking/guessing?

I do not have a link to the interview in JM's dad's house. They were all sitting on a sofa and JM was literally being held upright. It looked as if they let go, she would just deflate. She spoke not a word, everyone else did. She may have been heavily sedated, which would be completely understandable under any scenario. It was heartbreaking.

ETA: Bessie, thanks but that is not the video that I am referencing. It is the one done at JM's dad and step moms house. (I think step-mom)

I'm a bit puzzled about Klein's statement that they know the "how" but not the "why". (And now that the parents have been arrested, they are probably the "who"). Ok the how. How what? How they killed him? Unless Deorr's body was found, there is no "how" that can be known? I think someone would have had to have witnessed the killing. So, likely GGP or IR. I wondered if the overalls recovered that Trina said had blood on them...well I wonder if the axe did too. Horrible thought, I know. By saying they don't know "why" it sounds like it was an intentional act, whatever happened. I hate to think the parents were cold blooded murderers who killed him for no apparent reason. Seems like SOMETHING had to precipitate it, if they are guilty.

Thoughts?
As I said in the last thread IMO the how is how he disappeared. He did not wander off and fall in the creek, he was not taken by a mountain lion, he was not abducted, he died either accidentally or intentionally and has been hidden. They just don't know why this happened. IMO.

Klein also mentions that LE has not asked IR to keep some parts of story off limits, however I'm sure his attorney did. That doesn't sit quite right with me now.

Bessie, do you have a link to the interview where Jessica's father is present? They are sitting on a couch and Jessica is slunk into the cushions, not really interacting. That's the one that I found so unusual. Thanks!!

That is the one I am talking about too. Poor JM was like a rag doll and had people on both sides propping her up. Her head was down and she didn't speak. So sad.

Of course they aren't sharing everything with us. They haven't shared the timestamp of the receipt from the store, any sort of timeline, phone pings, forensic results from the axe and coveralls (and whatever else they have tested), the questions that have come up inconclusive on lie detectors, etc. etc.

In most cases the bulk of evidence is not revealed until suspects are charged. It usually comes out in court documents after arrest and arraignment on the charges.

Nope. They wouldn't share everything, and no doubt they're holding onto more than they're willing to reveal. SB gave a strong indication, however, that they're stumped. By now we know SB has a good poker face, but is it that good? I dunno. I believe he was truthful when he said that he decided to make a statement because he's concerned for community members who've considered donating money, and wants them to be able to make an informed decision. In other words, I think his sense of duty to the public forced his hand.

My opinion is based on these statements and his interview with KID.

These calls have prompted Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman to announce on Monday that DeOrr’s parents, DeOrr Kunz Sr. and Jessica Mitchell, have been named as suspects in the boy’s July 10 disappearance.

"Everybody needs to make that decision on their own,” Bowerman said about donating money. “But they need to know that mom and dad are being less than truthful, and they can make a decision on whether to donate based on that."

“We don’t want an issue of double jeopardy or filing the wrong charges,” Bowerman said. “We don’t want to charge anybody with something like a homicide and find out later the boy’s death was accidental."

“Their timeline keeps changing, where they were at keeps changing, and movements and statements about DeOrr Jr. keep changing,” Bowerman tells EastIdahoNews.com.

“Their statements don’t match, and it’s frustrating because we have absolutely no idea where DeOrr is,” Bowerman says. “There have been so many inconsistencies that it’s hard to tell the truth from everything they’ve said.”

“I don’t think that arrests are imminent, but we’re leaving all options open,” Bowerman says. “We don’t want charge them too early should we find DeOrr and things change.”

“I have a responsibility to the public to be open about this case,” he says.

Bowerman said he's been asked numerous times whether he'll file charges against the parents. But he says it's just too early.

"I'm not willing to jeopardize the investigation and filing (charges) too early," he said. "I want to make sure I got this right.

I agree. Its actually really nice to know what way LE is going now once and for all!

The one thing that also stands out to me is it took LE six months to come out with this. I can think of at least three good reasons why that might be.

I'm just kind of worried because at this point its starting to remind me of other missing childrens cases where there was never enough to prove it but just enough for a dark cloud to forever follow the parents.

I would appreciate hearing your 3 reasoning's after all these months of negative comments.

The fact that Bowerman is asking for witnesses to come forward who has seen the way the parents treated DeOrr... It sounded to me like they are looking for any evidence of previous abuse. I too have trouble imagining a scenario where they would try to cover up an accident, unless he got into some illegal drugs or something...

Eta this bit, I thought it seemed like Bowerman is fishing for prior abuse:

http://www.ktvb.com/story/news/crim...-parents-suspects-his-disappearance/79301014/

Wonder if the witness(es?) that Klein stated came forward only after he could assure their anonymity witnessed either of the parents abusing DeOrr.

What negative comments are you exactly refuring to?

Come on someone, please clear up the four hour issue for me, I can't hear Klein's comments on the IR interview.
