"The searches are only used by you to cover a possible crime that one or both of you may have committed.”

This is interesting. I feel like it's significant -- but I'm not sure to what.

My take is that he thinks Deorr is out of the search range.

Lots of pressure on the parents now.

All seems coordinated!? But don't really thinks so....more like the house of cards crumbling. Question is who will blink/fold first.

Also wow at the Frank Vilt letter. That is the strongest condemnation of the parents I've seen so far. I do hope the Rubicon episode is clarified in tomorrows interview.

I am always a bit confused when LE announces their suspicions before they can make an arrest, as in the case of Teresa's husband, as well as this case. I suppose it is a method of applying pressure, also maybe to explain why they may need to stop searching for now. But it does seem to bring out the worst in the public and kind of does away with any idea of innocent until proven otherwise, from a court of public opinion standpoint.

But I have felt the story (stories?) given by the parents was fishy from the start. I hope the pressure works and a confession is forthcoming soon, though this could have the opposite effect and everyone may just stop talking at all. Anyway...jmo.

Does anyone know off the top of their head when (date/month) Frank Vilt came on board with the family?
Does anyone know what date he established his Tip Line?
TIA

If he is a decent human being he would have gone to LE with his suspicions and they may have asked Vilt to keep it quiet until they had more evidence. IMO

IMO, it's no mistake that this letter is being released now and that Vilt is doing an interview to go along with it. Things are happening fast and furious in this case. For so long we heard nothing and now it's almost as if with each passing hour more clues are starting to come out.

Snipped by me for space
Someone asked why the parents would make a trip to the store if Deorr was gone. I think it would have been a good cover up for the parents had something happened to him in the middle of the night. Deorr could have already been loaded in the truck and they said they just needed to go to the store for a few things they forgot. They then disposed of his body at some point during the trip.

However, that doesn't make sense if GGP did indeed have eyes on him after the store and when they went exploring.

BUT - they could have returned from the store (without Deorr) and told GGP that Deorr had fallen asleep on the way back and that they either a) left him to sleep in the truck or b) put him in the camper (or whatever they had, maybe tent?). And told GGP to keep an eye out for him if he woke up while they were gone.
I don't comment very often on here but do follow along with many cases. I've been swinging my legs on both sides of the fence unsure who to believe.
When I think of JM and DK I would think of this scenario, too. Make small talk with the cashier so she remembers they were there. Buy something for their son, making sure they tell the cashier that's who it's for. If the receipt was obtained from the store and it had what was bought, there they go- proof that DeOrr was still alive because they purchased things for him.

They are no longer friends on facebook, so I would assume so.
I see someone has already covered this but when I looked they were friends last night.
Someone said that she wasn't friends with DeOrr Sr. but he may not be on FB right now to accept her request.

This is when I fell off the fence. Not just one PI saying it, but two and LE. I don't want to believe it but I am.
If either of them have any decency or love for their child at all and are guilty of this then they need to tell what, how and why it happened.

Jessica, as a mother I'm hoping it's you that comes forward for little DeOrr.

With all the incessant theorising, discussion, bickering (& snarking) across the 17 threads I had forgotten how adorable DeOrr Jr is.

I think we should all take a moment to look at this photo and remember on whose behalf we're so passionate :heartbeat:

Just thinking. I wonder how someone got hold of the Vilt letter? Could whoever it was be the witness who "gathered" previously withheld info (mainly the letter?). Just a thought. Probably wrong.

ETA: or info gathered that prompted the letter, if real.

I have seen LE announce their suspicious early in other cases to stop the public from donating, as Bowerman said is the case here, but in that case why would he wait until the fundraising was finished before coming clean.

It did cross my mind that he was worried about a lynch mob going after IR due to the comments Klein had made, but in that case he could have just said something to clear IR rather than pointing the finger at the parents.

Tbh, I think he was probably worried Klein's announcements and "findings" would either mess up the investigation or make LE look bad for not coming up with anything in so long.

Although, LE did also mention suddenly getting previously withheld information... Maybe that info was a break in the case.

I do not believe for a second this is a legit letter. One, it is not signed. two, surely a PI can spell and knows the difference between "your" and "you're". I call fake on this one.

He's sure done a 180 since that interview.

I know. I have the same feeling.

At the moment (subject to change), I'm wondering if the little boy never made it out of the vehicle. Then again, IR says he saw the boy at the campsite. But did he see him out of the car? We don't know, do we?
IR did say that DeOrr was at the campsite but did not say if he saw him out playing there.

Hmm....he also spelled "with draw" as two words, which I thought was sort of weird. These errors should be easy to verify - does he normally make these mistakes or does someone else near the case usually make these mistakes.

As Nancy Drew would say - tell-tale signs!

Philip Klein must not be a PI either, then, if the criteria is correct spelling/word usage.

If the radio station is to interview Vilt tomorrow morning we'll find out if the letter is a fake or not.
