I just caught something in on of Kleins interviews either EIN or channel 8, can't be sure now. He was talking about a witness coming forward to state that VDK didn't have a child with him in the store. The witness said he was in line with VDK and provided a receipt to verify. Then Klein says something to the effect of we looked back, and sure enough it was him.

I didn't think anything of it at the time, but looked back at what? Maybe the receipt is what is being referred to or MAYBE there really was surveillance video?
I don't know. I've been to a lot of dumpy little gas stations & general stores in the middle of nowhere Idaho & they all had security cameras. A cheap system can be picked up at Costco or Amazon for $300. A lot of rural gas stations are also consolidated as liquor stores and I just checked with the stage stop- they sell liquor.

I think he meant they checked the time stamp on his receipt and sure enough, his was the next purchase right after VDK's, but you're right, the word "looked" is kind of interesting... I wish they had surveillance video - maybe they do and they're just keeping that for the trial....

Imo. Klein deals with missing kids. But he is not advocating for any other kid expect for Deorr.

Now he acts like he knows everything about this case while passing the information to the fbi.

So what else does he need to do that the fbi can't.

So imo. He is sticking around for publicity. And not publicizing other cases that he can use media attention help on. Jmo

IMO you have a dislike for Klein and are mistaken as to what his role is. He was retained to find Deorr. He has not finished his one and only objective so it makes little sense to suggest he is sticking around for publicity only. The family hired him I'm sure in good faith to find their missing loved one, sadly it turns out the parents know what happened and where his body is located. No doubt that isn't what the family wanted from their money, but as they say "it is what it is".

He is giving interviews as per the media requests, and the case is generating interest it's not his fault. People may find his getting attention troublesome but once again it is very much par for the course. Klein basically specializes in investigating missing persons cases, often there is some media interest in those "type" of situations. If no one cared and there wasn't media attention I'm pretty sure he still would have come to the same conclusion. Lastly he should not publicize other cases when giving interviews about Deorr, that would be unprofessional.

*I am re-watching the interviews & will post a link once I find it, with a time

Hmmm...I can't find in either interview where Klein says the "looked back at" phrase. Are you sure you heard that? In the Local 8 interview, he does go into a bit more detail about the witness in line with VDK but I still didn't hear that phrase. Discussion starts at the 3 minute mark: http://www.localnews8.com/news/private-investigator-cadaver-dog-proves-there-was-a-death/38307992

Could they have "looked back" at transaction records and found payment by VDK by way of debit card?

I was wrong, "We go back, and sure enough it was him" it what Klein said exactly. 12:40-13:00 mark on this video

I took the statement just before that in the context of seeing something, which could have also been the receipt, sales records, or something else.
I thought maybe Klein had thrown us a bone. :findinglink::lookingitup::nevermind::waiting:

Imo. Klein will continue this case for Klein since it is a media preference for the moment . Jmo.

But has Klein mentioned other cases that he needs help on since it seems that he has this case wrapped up while only waiting for the body.

Hasn't he been on the Molly Miller, Colton Haynes case since 2014? His press releases were similar to the ones here, and he hasn't found either of them yet...

Another thought. JM saying they went to the store to buy feminine products. Her mother even said JM texted her that morning and told her they were going to get feminine products - a bit of a strange thing to do, imo. Maybe they wanted to explain away a blood stain, or an area in the truck that had been cleaned that day with bleach, or maybe they even had the foresight to think of cadaver dogs and thought this could explain any hits.

Good thinking! I had suggested previously that it was simply a pretext, for which I was given 50 lashes with a wet noodle, but your concepts make total sense.

His company AND law enforcement agencies. His company isn't the only entity investigating. We (all) know some missing person cases can last literally forever.

RSBM

I might provoke a few slaps from the good ladies here being a man, but...

1, Surely she would have taken or already had such a necessity in her toiletry bag? I would always take plasters and paracetamol on camping trips as a kid, not because I planned on needing them but just in case...

2, Texting mum about this need....maybe if a lot younger, but a 25 year old?

Generation Y text their moms about EVERYTHING. Having had 3 kids at a young age didn't exactly make JM grow up.

Maybe JM's mother knows more than she's letting on, and the text was "coded". That's a bit far-fetched, but you never know!

I don't consider a truck or a car seat to be "equipment," but maybe Klein does. I would refer to them as "articles." "Equipment," to me, means things that are used to achieve something like tools or sports gear.

Would that include firearms?

I wonder what exactly JM bought at the store. Certain hygiene products are also used for injuries.

My 26 yr old daughter texts me all the time..Now I can see if she went camping and I texted her to make sure she made it ok or to check on her and she was not able to get cell service until she was on the way to the store to get tampons and saw my text she might say something like ..we are doing good, headed to store as luck would have it Aunt flo came to visit...Something like that, I could see my daughter doing that.

And mine never would do that. She would just say that they had to run to the store to pick up a few things. We are close but she's a private person.

LOL, sometimes I wish mine were a bit more private...I know she wanted to have that mom/daughter talk at 14..she said her older sister had it with the counselor at school but she wanted to have it with me...I asked her why the counselor at school wasn't good enough for her too. I know I know..but I guess we are just close and she feels she can talk to me about anything even if it makes me uncomfortable.

I can see it being used as an explanation for something to have been cleaned with bleach. Most little stores in that area carry small 20oz (soda or water bottle) sized containers of bleach, laundry soaps & stuff. Backpackers coming through the area wouldn't be carrying it so they would just purchase small amounts wherever they find a place to do wash. That could be one of the items they purchased, which is why that is all such a big secret.
I don't know if it is odd that she would text her mom about it or not? I can see how it would easily come up in conversation though. As for not having a supply with her? Well, I usually have a few stashed here & there. I even keep a couple in my husbands vehicle. But when I run out & don't want to go to the store I go right through my backup supply & then am totally out. Its also possible that she just forgot to pack them. Regular people forget obvious things all the time- that is why hotels always have toothbrush and deodorant at the desk. To me, as a woman, the lack of preparedness & talking about it isn't weird in itself.
I do want to point out, in case some aren't aware, that menstrual blood isn't just blood. Under a scope it would be obvious that it was menstrual. There would be mucous and endometrial cells from the lining of the uterus.
The explanation of menstruation would have to be used to cover a very small area of blood staining. Even overnight we are likely talking about less than 1/4 c of blood. If it were a larger area or somewhere other than JM pants/sleeping bag/or seat then it would be very odd to investigators right away. Of course JM & DK aren't coming across as real bright, maybe they think that all the men in LE and SAR would just back off the minute a "woman issue" was given. SB might be a conservative good ole boy, but he is also been married to a woman for a long time and not an idiot. If there was more than a couple spots or in a bizarre place he would think to check. Especially after day 3, when alarm bells were clearly going off.
Even after cleaning with chlorine bleach, DNA and cellular evidence could still be present. Especially if it was cleaned up in a hurry by someone who didn't really know what they were doing.
If they used oxy-bleach or peroxide it would be totally gone. Peroxide is great at getting blood stains out of scrubs & off shoes.
