That wasn't me who posted the Leadore area webcam of the highway, but it was very helpful, wasn't it? I'm 4 hours away from Idaho Falls in Boise (the state's capital) and while we have been having unseasonably warm weather (in the 50's), all one has to do is drive 30 minutes up to our ski mountain, Bogus Basin, and find some of the best snow we've had in years. I guess it's hard to imagine such extremes in weather, but that's Idaho for ya!

Bogus Basin? So it's really not a basin? LOL.

I had asked this earlier and dont have my old post but I live in Montana and we are having an extremely dry warm winter here..So a lot of places that usually have snow do not have snow now. If the ski mountain didn't make their own snow they would probably be closed already for the season. So what I want to know is..How is Idaho our neighbor doing ? Im at 5500 ft and can see up the mountain to about 10K feet at 5500 we are snow free..and I would even say probably to 7K feet. Which I thought was the level of the camp ground. So how is the weather, snow in Idaho right now? Would a search be feasible at this time? I didnt notice avalanche areas around that campground area but I know here every yr in Cook city we have at least one avalanche that kills someone on a snowmobile..one a yr average. Im not in cook city but that area is a little higher elevation etc.

Snow levels in Idaho are excellent this year. Finally!

Sorry if I missed something upthread, but I'm wondering about the discussion regarding who is retaining Klein's services following his dismissal? Did he suggest that it was somebody close to the case? Or are people just tossing ideas around?

It's all speculation at this point but Klein answered on his FB visitor feed that it does not need to be a family member.

Okay. My last post here. Lol

Since Klein states that he knows that it was an accident / homicide and he has a feeling on where to search.

Then obviously Klein knows everything.

So hopefully once the blizzard and frozen ground has thawed; Then maybe Klein can crack this case and move on to the next.

Or will he simply stay on board for the attention.

I'm not a huge Klein fan myself and I question some of his motives. He's kind of the Donald Trump of this situation in my eyes. However, I dont think anybody believes he knows everything, but people here are looking for information and he is providing augmented versions of what we previously knew.

LE are less apt to expand on information for obvious reasons, so people appreciate Klein's somewhat candid approach. Regardless of whether we like a PI or not, he's given us some more meat on which to chew. We share a collective goal as posters on this forum, and I think it's important to remember that fact. We can attack Klein or whomever without attaching it to any posters...who after all are likely caring citizens with whom we share a common goal.

What are the chances little DeOrr was put down a mine out there? Someone upthread asked if there were mines in the area but the best map I can find is this one. The scale is too small for me to understand whereabouts the campground is as a starting point, so if any one here knows/understands I'd appreciate help.

Would these mines be deep? Would they be closed off? Would they be marked on the terrain specifically? There seem to be a great deal of them. TYIA.

So.....Vilt (the local PI) withdrew his services because he was being lied to. I guess getting a new PI, 1100 miles away didn't go as planned either. I believe Klein took a lot more interest in the case than anyone involved counted on.
Yes! It's so ironic. Hiring him slightly backfired. He is extremely tenacious and I don't think he would back off now for anything.

RSBM

I might provoke a few slaps from the good ladies here being a man, but...

1, Surely she would have taken or already had such a necessity in her toiletry bag? I would always take plasters and paracetamol on camping trips as a kid, not because I planned on needing them but just in case...

2, Texting mum about this need....maybe if a lot younger, but a 25 year old?

You're not wrong. Most women have a good idea of when to expect their cycles unless they're usually irregular. And most of the women I've known who were irregular always kept a stash of supplies because they didn't want to be caught unawares.

As for texting my mom, I don't even think I'd have done that beyond 12 or 13, lol. I usually only mentioned it to my mom if I was running short on supplies and needed her to get me more (and that was as a teen -- as an adult, um, no.)

Oh, yeah, I think the chance is real darn good that he could be in a mine. Real good chance. There's a million places to hide a body in the Idaho wilderness. The possibilities are endless.

ETA - before anyone thinks I'm creepy for making the above statement (LOL!), do you all remember the kidnapping of Hannah Anderson: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidnapping_of_Hannah_Anderson ? Well, her kidnapper brought her to the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return (yeah, the name says it all) in hopes that it would be a good place to hide. He was sort of right, if it weren't for those pesky locals who knew something was strange when they ran across them in the back country...

This was discussed in the first thread....and maybe beyond to some degree. I believe....but my memory is sketchy on this that somebody produced a map of all the mines in the area. I recall there were no mines in the near vacinity. However, at the time the mine theory was focused on DeOrr accidentally falling into one so near would have been relative to how far a toddler could likely stray.

Good question! I was out that way last summer, not all the way to Idaho but camping out by Bannack Montana, the old gold mining town..I was surprised how many other old ghost mining towns are out that way that are not popular destinations but can easily be hiked to etc. We actually went to a couple for the fun of it. So I'm sure there would have to be some of them out that way too..its not that far away.

OT: Bogus Basin. The year I was supposed to come out there to ski, the snow was terrible so we canceled our trip. Here I am in Northern Vermont, no snow, wishing I was skiing in Idaho! LOL

Back on topic: I wouldn't want to be doing any digging around there right now, though. :)

I just keep thinking...if they did actually buy pads and/or tampons, since it seems unlikely that JM is lying about starting her period, for what did they need things that easily absorb blood??!
I keep pads in the horses first aid box as they're brilliant for cuts, abrasions even soaking in cold or hot water and using as compresses. They could potentially have been used for cleaning up some fluids, especially if certain people thought that 'used' sanitary towels wouldn't come under much scrutiny if they were discovered before they could be effectively disposed of. MOO

I'd be suspicious of anybody buying pads as opposed to tampons. If she purchased pads, then I definitely see them being used for other cleanup but I tend to think it was her "perfect" excuse to leave the campground and dispose of a body. Male LE would likely let that excuse go and not dig too deeply.

The closest marker on that map appears to be a gravel pit at Lee Creek Road and Coleman Road. If you continue out Lee Creek Road (west), you come to Big 8 Mile Road. That turns into FS 096. That continues onto Blue Jay Mine. It's about 40 minutes from Leadore.

There's even a Big Eight Mile Campground.
10 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings on Big Eightmile Creek.

Several dirt roads and trails in the area are open to hiking and mountain biking. Travel up Eighmile Creek Canyon, up Dairy Creek Canyon, or to the historic Blue Jay Mine.

Never go into abandoned mine shafts!

Yes, I can remember at school we could be let out of class for an indefinite amount of time if we asked one of the male teachers if we could go to the toilet, the question accompanied by a bit of a belly rub and a knowing look lol.

I was wondering why you would find it more suspicious if she bought towels than tampons? Genuinely curious as to why.
