Seems that LE would know straightaway whether there was a dog (dogs) at the campsite when first responders arrived. I am kind of thinking someone asked Klein about this in a q and a. But I can't recall the answer. Will hunt later!

Didn't Klein say something about whether the dogs were seen at one of the places they stopped at in town? It was in one of the earlier Q and A's IIRC.

I was really hoping this case was going to be resolved by now. But, that was under the assumption that he wandered away from the campsite, and fell into the nearby creek.

I want to remain optimistic, but I think this case is going to go cold. That's just my opinion though.

I have a question for anyone who knows the answer: Vernal said his dog (Missy I believe is the dogs name) was tied to the back bumper and Deorr Jr. was playing with her at some point. Has there been any news regarding Missy and her whereabouts today? I think it's very unusual that dog(s) werent mentioned for a long time. I also don't see a point in bringing a dog to a campground that can't stay in the local area without running off.

Yeah, I think it's odd how they left IR completely out of their first interview, as though they didn't want him to exist, or anyone to know he was there. Then come to find out they completely left the dog out as well. Strange... so what else did they leave out ?

I have wondered from the beginning if they were told to leave IR out of the discussion initially. Obviously LE knew he was there, so I can see no reason for JA and VK to hide the fact unless they were told to do so. Maybe they threw him under the bus right away? Or maybe I'm completely wrong and they just thought IR and the dog would poke holes in one of their 13 stories. Obviously you don't want the public to think you're guilty if you're throwing fundraisers.

I don't think this case will get solved. I think there were too many mistakes in the beginning when critical evidence could have been found. I think LE treated it as a standard child wandered off scenario for too many days. JA and VK aren't going to break. They share a lawyer. That lawyer isn't going to let either one talk and neither could talk without incriminating themselves. GGP isn't going to talk. IR didn't have enough to say. Unless they find Deorr buried somewhere, they'll play the "he wandered off" card for eternity.

I missed the Q and A. Thanks.

For those who have been following cases for years (OK, anybody!), what's your gut feeling here? Will this get resolved??

I have my doubts, unfortunately.

I don't think so unless they find his body or other conclusive evidence of what happened to him.

And although it seems like a long time, it only happened last summer...sigh.

Which is why LE needs to proceed with some kind of charges as soon as possible, IMO. It would require them to both retain separate attorney. I have to assume them sharing an attorney has to do with finances, and the law doesn't say they can't testify against one another once they have charges brought against them. At least that's my understanding. jmo

arresting and charging them with anything without having enough evidence to stand up in court would be a huge mistake because double jeopardy would prevent further charges if any more evidence would be found. LE knows what they are doing.

Yeah, I know, I know. I'm just extremely frustrated with this case. I wonder what light IR has been able to shed on it, surely there's been something that hasn't been revealed to the public. It's really hard for me to fathom how so many sorry people get away with murdering / disappearing these defenseless babies. It's sickening. :(

KIC have put out a very short statement just now. There is a bit more on their f/b page =

Statement regarding DeOrr Kunz Jr:
We have received several inquiries today regarding fliers being made for DeOrr by family members, as well as, planned searches being put into action. At this point in time, we have no knowledge of any fliers or searches being planned for DeOrr.

This was in KIC statement as well. I find it very interesting.

This case is still very fluid as of today. At this point in time, we will make no comment on where our firm stands in the investigation and future searches for this missing child.

About the dog - if I remember correctly, and I have a pretty good memory, it was stated several months ago that there was a dog with them. Also, if memory serves, it was further stated, not sure by whom, during the search "they" came across a buried animal which I think might have been a dog. I remember this grave thingee because it was/is a common ploy to bury a dead animal of some sort over a dead human as a disguise.

I could be dead wrong, but this is what a remember from several months back. It stuck out to me at the time.

Was it THEIR dog that was buried?? Where is this dog now?

Wow Trident! I totally don't remember that but to be honest I came to this case late and probably missed many things. Also my memory stinks.

I am in no way doubting you at all. It just makes my hinky meter redline.

I never ever thought about animal remains being used to mask human remains. But it also makes no sense to me in normal situations that you would bury a beloved pet at a campground.

MOO IMO

Good lord. What are they possibly searching for? Is she going to lead them to wherever her and VDK put him, and pretend she just so happened to find human bones. Too little too late Jessica, it's been a year.

(My own opinion and pent up frustration...)

Okay, I just read your comment more carefully....and it appears it was their dog.

Wha?!!

Was it explained how the dog died and when??

I hope this isn't taking us down a wrong trail....thinking of those minnows....but this seems like a big detail.

I remember this as well! I seem to recall that it was implied it was the dog of someone associated with the search. I assumed one of the search and rescue, but...

Thanks for the reminder!

Maybe I need to make myself more clear. I remember hearing they had a dog with them. I also believe I remember "animal remains" or a "buried animal" was found during the search. This animal may have been a dog, but this part is a bit blurry to me. IF it was a dog, I have no idea whose dog it may have been, nor do I have any idea what happened to "their" dog.

Hope this clears things up and I hope my memory isn't full of holes. I would go back and search but I'm much too lazy to hunt through all this info, etc to do that.
