Has it ever been confirmed if there are any mines or anything like that where he could have fallen in OR where a body could have been hidden?
According to a 2022 interview with reporter Nate Eaton, Lemhi Sheriff Steve Penner said there were mines, but not real close, but you could get to them. It sounds like they were searched. This interview can be found on FaceBook.

They also probed and pumped out any nearby outhouses on/by day 3, in case anyone was wondering.

This case has been one of the most frustrating cases.
I have some ideas about what happened, but no real evidence to support my theory. I truly did not think we'd be here 10 years later waiting for an answer, especially once LE started making some comments that hinted at their thoughts. However, LE has been wrong before. I go back-and-forth on what happened due to the lack of concrete evidence.

It's one of just a few that I really don't have an opinion to argue. In a way I think of Azaria Chamberlain. Something brushed off, parents castigated, but the truth will emerge.

I'm still very suspicious of the parents because there were so many inconsistencies, and seemingly mistruths, in their very detailed stories.

I too have my doubts if that sweet baby ever went on that 'family' camping trip. :(

I tend to agree with your doubts that the sweet baby was ever on this "family" camping trip which points to planning this disappearance and calling in a missing child.

Too many things prove to me that he was at the campsite.

Isaac says he was and police believe him. They've said he's been the most consistent.
They had his stuff with them.
Dogs tracked him for a little while.
that could b true, but why all the inconsistencies in their stories about their trip into town?

And their explanations for leaving a baby behind at the campfire, with an elderly man with oxygen tank while supposedly sitting at an open fire.

There's no way that Grandpa could have watched or followed or cared for an 18 month old in a campground.

And the parents go off on a hike to the river and leave the toddler behind? I don't understand that at all. I'd never leave my baby in a mountain campground with someone unable to keep up with them.

I would love to hear your thoughts and theories! Thanks.

The whole thing is pretty bizarre. I have followed from the beginning. Even in real time when Jessica sold baby cowboy boots online and Trina hanging grandpa's and doeors dirty diapers in a tree, and and animals being buried there. Creaming beings thrown there at the beginning. Good gracious, so much to remember. But it's so good to see him talked about again. One of the last things I saw on TV about him, is a woman reporter, I think, said, we may never know with this case. Man, this kills me to here these words. I pray one day, we will know.

There is a lot to remember particularly because the cased has been muddied by irrelevant things and the fighting between the family and PIs, etc.

I do hope someday he is found.. that's most important. But I also hope that they are able to determine how he died (if he is found deceased, of course) and that they are able to arrest anyone responsible for his death. It's been so long now, it seems like that part is fading each year.

Could be all sorts of reasons. Memories are not great in a crisis.

Could also be that something happened to him the night they arrived or early morning before the trip into town so they struggled to remember whatever story they came up with.

I personally don't think the parents murdered their child but I'm keeping an open mind to anything even still potentially a kidnapping or an animal attack though I think those are lowest on the list of possibilities.

Just because you or I wouldn't leave a toddler with Grandpa doesn't mean they didn't. It is entirely possible that it happened just as they said they did but I sincerely doubt they were only gone for the short time they said they were if they did leave him with Grandpa. That said, toddlers are quick and it could have happened that way.

I just hope some day the truth comes out.

I believe the parents know what happened. I do not think it was intentional. I think they got scared (possibly drugs, drinking, neglect or some other unflattering situation was involved) and they presented the story we've heard. I don't think grandfather or his friend are involved. They might know what happened, but it feels like they might be misremembering or facts were manipulated in a way that they firmly believe what they are saying happened the way they said it did. Like I said, I have no concrete evidence, just basing my feelings off of my experiences with other cases and information we do have. There are times I wonder if it was intentional and there are times I don't think his parents know anything. Mostly, though, my thoughts are as presented above. I am not sure where I believe any of this took place. I am not sure if I think the camping trip was planned or planned as part of a cover up.
