Circumstances of Disappearance:
Shawver was last seen in St. Maries, Idaho on November 19, 2016. His last contact was a text message he sent to his wife from the Seattle, Washington area, but he's never been heard from since. He was possibly driving a maroon 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck at the time of his disappearance.

The police cancelled Shawver's missing person's report on December 11, 2016, after someone claiming to be a friend of his called the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office on his behalf and reported that Shawver was fine and wanted to be alone for awhile. However, Shawver has never contacted his family again.

The deputy who spoke to the caller couldn't remember the caller's identity, so Shawver's missing persons case was reopened in June of 2017. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are unclear and his whereabouts remain unknown.

<<Dewey "Duke" Shawver, a St. Maries man who had been missing for nearly three weeks, has been located alive and well, Benewah County Sheriff Dave Resser told The Press on Monday morning.

The search ended the next month on December 11 when someone claiming to be Shawver's friend called a Shoshone County Deputy on Shawver's behalf to let them know he was fine and was dealing with personal issues and just wanted to be alone. The deputy in Shoshone County told the Benewah County Sheriff's office that the call was reliable.

"Per his request, no further information is being released at this time," Resser said, adding that he couldn't comment on where or what time Shawver was found or further details of the case.>>

BENEWAH COUNTY, Idaho - Law enforcement in north Idaho confirms they are re-opening the missing person case of Dewey "Duke" Shawver. The Benewah County Sheriff's Office and Idaho State Police
