After eight attempts Wednesday, the prison warden told them to give up. Creech, a 73-year-old serial killer who has been in prison for half a century, was returned to his cell — for how much longer, no one knows.

The medical team behind the execution attempted to make contact in his hands, feet, legs and arms. One team member even left the execution chamber to get more supplies.

Before the attempt, Creech was given a mild sedative per departmental policy. His last meal was fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and ice cream. He spent the hours leading up to the attempt with his wife.

Oh man, “LWOP” is the extremely insulting acronym my huge corporate company gave me after taking my vacation benefits (Leave Without Pay).

I agree there need to be something else in place.
