And to think, @Patch Tuesday started this case thread in the beginning last week stating

"I believe this is going to be a more complicated case than it looks on the surface. The children's mother (Lori Wallows) recently married a man (Chad Daybell) a few weeks after his wife died. It was presumed the late wife had died of natural causes but was exhumed recently and her death is now being investigated. The new wife's husband was shot in a family argument earlier this year"

Well Patch, that was an understatement for sure that's it's more complicated than it looks.

In the first thread, someone said that they have read Chad's books. Can someone explain what it's about? For some reason I assumed his books were like a mormon version of The Hunger Games lol.

I don't think you're too off the mark. They seem like a survival of the righteous and spiritual fittest purge plot.

What he calls "actual events" being evil spirits showing up and being fought off by another dead (but apparently good) guy says a lot about how Chad thinks and, I suspect, maybe those who surround him. MOO.
Ugh, this is absolutely creepy and scary.

I found a really old article on Chad from 1999:

LDS author uses the past to influence the future in new book

March 17, 1999

Some people find their inspiration in the present. Others find it digging in the past.

Chad Daybell lives to roam and write the past. Previously a copy editor for the Standard Examiner in Ogden, Daybell now spends his afternoons as a cemetery sexton.

Yet, even with the switch in jobs from one focusing on writing to one with very little writing, Daybell continues to write and has recently published his first book, “An Errand for Emma,” which he will be signing copies of Thursday in the BYU Bookstore.

Daybell has always enjoyed writing and earned his undergraduate degree in journalism from BYU. He also worked at the Daily Universe while attending BYU. So why the switch from journalism to one that involves little writing?

“I mainly switched jobs because my work at the newspaper was high-demand, high-stress, poor hours and I was deserting my family,” Daybell said.

Daybell said he worked for Evergreen Cemetery in Springville while attending BYU and enjoyed the part-time job. He then kept his eye on the sexton position and knew when it was rumored to be available.

High stress and high demand aren’t the only reasons Daybell quit his previous job.

“When I worked at the newspaper I was in front of a computer all day,” Daybell said. “At the end of the day, I wouldn’t feel like writing.”

Daybell said his job now is purely physical, so at the end of the day he feels like writing.

Daybell’s newfound enjoyment has paid off with the publication of “An Errand for Emma.”

This gives some of Chad's past jobs and ambitions. Based on the description of the book he wrote in 1999 it seems that Chad's books didn't start out as being end-times prophecy type books. I wonder when he made a shift to cult-like stuff?
Your sleuthing skills are astounding @Gardener1850 well done

So a lot of her exes are from Texas...

Why would someone want to marry so many times?
Isn’t that a song? Holy cow - I repeat we do need an org chart for these people

Another older article on Chad's books:

'Paradise' lost book battle
Deseret Book decides not to stock new LDS novel

By Deseret News Mar 18, 2003, 10:11am MST

SPRINGVILLE — On page 99 of Chad Daybell's new book, "Chasing Paradise," a warrior angel swoops in, plucks up a naughty spirit by the nape of her neck and drop-kicks her through the wall.

Daybell says that by then, readers are happy to see the troublesome "Ruby" banished.

Unfortunately for Daybell, that same scene has booted his novel off the shelves at Deseret Book stores.

Daybell said he was told last week that Deseret Book buyer Sarah Hoffman found the passage "irreverent" and therefore unsuitable for sale by the chain, which recently announced a sweeping clean-up policy for its merchandise.

Daybell — who has several books including the popular "Tiny Talks" books in Deseret Book stores — was shocked.

"As the managing editor of Cedar Fort publishing, it's part of my job to watch for offensive material," Daybell said. "I certainly didn't think my own novel would fall into that category."

Daybell said Deseret Book's reaction has him confused.

[...]

Daybell said he could edit out the offending sequence about the warrior, but that wouldn't make him happy.

"The passage is based on an actual event," he said. "My Young Men's president was killed in an automobile accident and two years later, his nephew was attacked by evil spirits on his mission to Brazil. Chris (the dead president) showed up and fought off the evil spirits and led the missionaries to safety."

Daybell said he feels unfairly and arbitrarily singled out because one employee disliked one passage in the story.

"That's the main reason I'm publicly objecting," he said. "I didn't want to let this die because it feels so subjective. Is this the new standard, no swearing, no sex and, now, no conflict? If this is the new standard, LDS novelists might as well put away their word processors because potentially anything can come under fire."

[...]

Daybell, a Brigham Young University graduate in journalism, has written four other books. One is based on stories he came across as he worked as the sexton for the Springville City Cemetery.

"I knew enough not to submit that one to Deseret Book," he said.

"Youth of Zion," based on the lives of LDS Church prophets, and a trilogy based on Emma Smith, along with "Tiny Talks," are all available through Deseret Book.

'Paradise' lost book battle

Interesting analogy, to Satan being cast out in to outer darkness. If you follow LDS theology.

I should probably read the books, but I have never been fond of dystopian fiction. End of the world...

In the LDS religion, folks who follow the LDS faith, can attend an LDS temple. Not everyone who is LDS has been to an LDS temple, or been married in a temple.

If you are married in a temple, it is usually for time and eternity. It used to be that women could only be married to one man in the LDS temple, now church rules changed the ceremony to "marriage for time on earth", so women can marry again, in an LDS temple ceremony.

Why is this background on LDS marriage relevant? It would be interesting to know which of Lori's marriages were in an LDS temple, if any.

My assumption is that Chad, as a returned LDS missionary, married Tammy in an LDS temple ceremony.

Were Lori and Chad married in the LDS temple? That would be interesting to know. Or was it just a civil service, that did not even involve their LDS bishop.

What happened to Husband #1 and #2 ? Are they dead too? We need an organizational chart for these people IMO

Maybe husband #1 dodged that bullet. Was he from Texas?

I believe #2 (father of Colby) is alive. I don't know about #1 (Nelson) as I couldn't find out his name before and didn't know what it was until members here started summarizing GH's video. MOO.

Yes, all of Lori's ex husbands are believed dead according to last GH org chart.

Theory presented on last GH video was that Lori and Chad sought to 'eliminate' all direct family members from their 'respective pasts'.

For this reason I would hope that the remaining Lori and Chad family members are safe and in contact with LE.

Entire situation defies description and the number of deaths and manner of deaths is frightening.

MOO

Do we know if either/both Lori and/or Chad are members in good standing of LDS local community? Or, has Chad been identified as a "false teacher" and/or "false prophet" and possibly shunned by the more mainstream LDS community?

Do we know the size of the community that surrounded Chad and Lori? In MSM and from comments from friends we see reference to the word 'cult' and 'dangerous cult'? How many people are involved with the group and has the group been identified as a cult or been banned by mainstream LDS community leaders?

Is there any reason to believe that the broader mainstream LDS community might be sheltering Lori and/or Chad?

Her husbands #1 and #2 are presumably alive. She married and divorced them a long time ago.
It's the husband #3 and #4 that are dead.
Chad is husband #5.

Fremont County Len Humphries says one of Daybell’s sons is living in Salem and he refuses to speak with Law enforcement.

New information released in nationwide search for missing Idado kids case; family uncooperative
This makes me wonder if Chad & Lori are using all this publicity to bolster their theory "See, we are under attack, look what they're doing to us" It is simple to me. Allow officers to speak to your children and make sure they're safe or this nationwide manhunt will continue. I doubt anyone wants to take children but they do have a right to ensure they're safe in my opinion. It is an unfortunate situation.
