#20 makes me happy.

TIA. But #21 sickens and horrifies me. The cruelty and casual disregard for life that Alex and his sister Lori appear to have in common is chilling.

I have 2 related questions for our VI @echoecho222. Was Lori a lifelong LDS member? And was she observant when you knew her? Thank you.

I can't say that this couldn't have happened, but it seems unlikely. A few of his books were non-fiction, but it appears where he was getting a bit out there was in fiction. Stories that are, by definition, pretend. I'm thinking that for something fiction to be serious enough to get him excommunicated that it would be too far out there for his established fans to be okay with it as well. I can see claiming something that was published as fiction was actually true and happened to him personally would have the potential to get him in trouble though. MOO.
I will continue to dig more and try to figure this out. I was trying to figure out if any of his podcasts were archived anyplace as I was curious if he shared different written materials with his podcast participants vs the more mainstream fiction writings? It also wasn't totally clear if what Chad was writing as "fiction" really was "fiction" in his mind or the mind of any of his followers? On the GH podcast last night the comment was made about how Lori became 'enamoured' with Chad's teachings. I was trying to figure out if this meant Chad's books of "fiction" or whether Lori was reading something else written by Chad that isn't public? I'm still confused on the topic of Chad and his 'teachings' and whether he had any disciples in real life or if they were just people that subscribed to his podcast?

I think I've seen at least 5 references too to "dangerous cult" in MSM and this is being said so far as I can tell without attribution to any source documents that might discuss some of the Chad teachings. I'm not saying this to in any way defend Chad and his teachings, I'm just trying to better understand what his teachings involved and why precisely he was excommunicated and why he was deemed to be part of a 'dangerous cult'.

I wonder how long it took to get a death certificate for Tammy? Looks like it was a requirement to get married in Hawaii if getting married in Hawaii is true.

I mentioned early on in the thread reading Chad’s first book of the “Standing in Holy Places” series.

Granted, this was a decade ago but I would have compared this to the Left Behind series with an LDS bent. However, something about its tone felt like it was veering off in theology to me, a liberal leaning mainstream Mormon (who is now inactive and really more of an agnostic with a love for LDS culture and fascination with all LDS splinter groups)

also and I don’t mean to be rude, since I’m no great writer myself, but I just found the writing overall to be mediocre at best.

as they say on websleuths, this is all MOO.

In @MassGuy defense. I do not think he would have been so nonchalant if I had posted #21 when he said that. I edited my post first.

21. horrifies me too. I hope to goodness that is not why the FBI have his car.

Ok, did anyone listen to this and summarize? I have tried to catch up on all the posts but in a weird way and may have missed it.

I was driving for a while today and listened. Sure wish this video went faster....also, I am sure I missed comments or something as Gray kept referring to them. Some of my takeaways, as its been a few hours since listening.

Gray read some communication he had with an insider, a female family I believe insider.

Some things I will bullet and use my own words and Gray's as well.

1. Tylee wasn't into all the beliefs that her mom was
2. Lori (Lolo) and Chad were having an affair
3. Chad raised or started an insurance policy on Tammy 9 months before she died.
4. For some reason, Lori got 75K insurance money from Tylee's Father, Joseph Ryan.
5. Lori was a hairdresser and met Charles that way
6. Brandon was shot at in his driveway by someone driving Tylee's jeep. FBI got involved then.
7. Whoever this person is on Gray's show, they say they went to police earlier, they sent email, called, etc and they never called them back. Chandler police detective didn't do their job and if they would have been taken seriously then Tammy would still be alive. We told the detective that Lori was telling everyone that Charles needs to die. Charles sent messages to this person saying that he believed "they" are going to kill me. 2 weeks later he dies.
8. Brandon was divorced after this attempt and ex-wife did not even fight for kids. she remarried shortly after as well.
9. Gray calls these mysterious deaths like a cleansing of sorts for the cult.
10. He believes Alex killed Charles and possibly Joe Ryan and Alex attempted to kill Brandon, and possibly Chad killed Tammy and Alex.
11. Says Lori and Chad got married in Hawaii.
12. Lori and Charles fled to Hawaii when Joe Ryan was getting too close to getting custody.
13. Lori married nelson from Rialto CA loser gang member right out of high school.
14. #2 lasted three years, loser, wanted to be taken care of
15. Lori was a hairdresser and met Joe and married him. Lori wanted a divorce three years later because he didn't make enough money and made up terrible lies about Joe Ryan molesting her son.
16. Knew Charles from being a hairdresser and knew he had money, went after him
17. moved to az, then wanted to move to HI after Tylee realized that Joe was not a bad person after all and that her mom had lied about everything. So Lori wanted to move to HI.
18. Too expensive in HI and in 2016 she started to go see Chad and his crazy weekend getaways.
19. Joseph never had custody of Tylee.
20. Charles changed his insurance policy and Lori got nothing from him. She THOUGHT she was going to get 2 mil from Charles.
21. Alex is thought to have taken several dogs to the desert to die. Some of Lori's as well. The hope is that is not what he did with the kids.
22. There is video of the car that shot at Brandon.
23. Police have the jeep, and the footage. Tylee's jeep.
24. Lori was looking at wedding rings and wedding dresses for a BEACH wedding BEFORE Tammy was dead.
25. Charles caught her and sent message to this commenter and saying Lori was having an affair. He was dead two weeks later.
26. Brandon is reason this started w/ FBI. Brandon's investigator got FBI involved then they got Chandler involved.
27. Alex was foaming at the mouth, going to the bathroom everywhere, and died within 10 minutes. They suspect poisoning. His 13 year old called 911.
28. Brandon's ex wife didn't show up to custody hearings and he was awarded full custody and doesn't have to pay her anything. She married someone in the cult 2 weeks later.

I am listening again as I am reading and will update.

ETA - Additional points
#24 is quite telling......

#20 makes me happy.
Ha Ha!

Yes, but by all accounts Lori keeps things moving and the bodies keep dropping one by one.

GH did a solid job of going through the Lori relationship history from HS and how she seemed to use her brother (now deceased) to do so much of her dirty work in terms of ridding her life of unwanted relationships and unwanted animals.

Her next move I believe after what you referenced as number 20 was to was to marry Chad and according to what we learned on GH last night she was picking out wedding dresses IN ADVANCE of the death of Chad's late wife.

Lori sounds like a true 'gem'.

Wonder what Lori might be planning for her next move?

Does Lori do better with or without Chad?

MOO

Yeah, not that Chad doesn’t deserve Lori’s wrath, but I don’t see that happening.

Two kindred spirits, who apparently share similar goals. I think this ends in double suicide.

Oh, that was in no way meant to slag on MassGuy! The change in mood in the moment between smiling at #20 and absorbing #21 is so striking however. First a light moment, despite the fact that we're only considering Charles' insurance because he was killed ... and then the gut punch of possibly murdered pets and children. :(

From the first time I read her brother died in December I suspected Lori fired the shots and Alex took the blame so they could plead self defense. Which means Lori clubbed her own brother w/a baseball bat--this woman is scary as hell. Her name may even become part of national vocabulary someday, right up there with Charles Manson and Ted Bundy.

I also think Tylee may have disappeared well before Joshua left school. I feel terrible for that girl. Her social media posts from a few years ago look like she was leading a relatively normal, fun life w/friends and activities. Once in Idaho, it seems like all that evaporated for her.

It's possible Josh started talking and they had to shut him up. I prefer to think they realized LE was going to be asking him questions they didn't want him to answer so they moved him to a safe location far outside Dodge. When it looked like they were about to be questioned for Tammy's murder they fled too.

If one of those things didn't happen, the others still may have, we just don't know. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Yep! We are on the same page. And I think Tammy factors in either because Lori wanted Chad for herself, or more likely, he knew what happened and they needed spousal immunity. So Tammy has to go to clear the way for them to get married. This is such an effed up case.

One of Chad's podcasts has been posted to youtube:

Youtube caption for the above video reads: "Chad Daybell recalls some effective lessons he learned in life about patience in waiting a long time to see the Lord's promises happen and gives good advice for others seeking to find peace in waiting on the Lord's timing. Correction: I mentioned the Time To Warrior Up podcast in this episode but I mistook that for the network that hosts the TTWU program, which is Preparing A People. That's the podcast I had heard Chad on. You can also find more about Chad's work with Preparing a People here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/glimpses "

I agree. I really think he's being very honest and seems bewildered by all of this. He's putting it together, but I sense a little bit of fear in him, now that he realizes how many deaths have occurred and that it's possible that at the very least, his mother is involved in those deaths. He wants LE to deal with that aspect of it, and who can blame him? He's still a young man himself- imagine walking in his shoes right now?

I also think he is genuinely scared for his siblings. I also feel that he is very angry at his mother for putting him in this position.

Yeah. He has his own little baby and probably cannot wrap his mind around how a loving parent could do this. To come to the realization that your parent isn’t who you thought they were is a jagged pill to swallow. He should have been enjoying Christmas with his own little family, not dealing with all of this.

If you saw the youtube show, it's more like Lori fell under Chad's spell because of his doomsday prepper beliefs.

True.... though she has a bigger number of dead bodies on her side of the tally sheet, so if I were Chad I would just be doing whatever I could to survive!

I have been trying to figure out this LDS belief of being exalted to a God. I had read that the belief was that those with disabilities in this life will be guaranteed exalted to highest heaven or god-like status or something. I was watching a podcast early on where someone had commented about their belief that their autistic kids were that way so that they could be warriors in the next level or something.

Could there be anything to this warrior with JJ? Is the number 7 any special meaning in LDS as is the Christian faiths 7 representing perfection?

I've just been trying to figure out what the purpose of this "cult" was. Or if there was one.

I totally don't get the attraction to Chad from Lori so I thought maybe the purpose was it.

Ok, for those wondering, I have finished editing my post with the bullets on the youtube. Not all-inclusive, but a lot of them.

  • #357
One thing to add to this, I posted before I actually read all your points.
The family member/insider said Alex Cox was foaming at the mouth and died with in 10 mins of this. So they suspect poison as the cause of death.
I'm listening to the newest Gray Youtube Show with Kay and Larry Woodcock. Around min 29, Kay states that Joseph Ryan Jr. (Tylee's dad) was dead for 3 weeks before his body was found. Neighbors noticed a smell, and alerted LE. No one claimed the body, so Joseph was cremated.

Thank you for completing a Herculean task. That was informative, and terribly grim.

What a trail of destruction Lori and Alex (and Chad?) have blazed through the lives they've touched. And it's likely that what we know or have heard merely scratches the surface.

The thirteen-year-old finding the deceased father, no matter his faults or crimes, is still another tragedy in this saga. So very much damage in this extended family. I hope the innocent survivors have the strength and resilience to overcome the chaos that has befallen them and their loved ones. And I hope there are no more victims to come.

I think she wanted Chad for herself. The affair worked fine for a while but would be hard to continue if hunkered down in two different bunkers.

Thank you for doing this! I thought about trying to do it, but it can be frustrating to listen to. I highlighted the information that stood out to me in the post above.
You all did better than I. I couldn’t even listen to it. I lost patience when he kept messing around and wouldn’t get started with the info. It was so aggravating, I Xed out of it and didn’t hear any of it.
