Lori Vallow set to appear in court in Kauai tomorrow morning 2/21. Kauai County Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar says she can choose to be represented by council, waive extradition hearing or proceed w/ hearing. Extradition hearing would be a couple weeks later. #fox10phoenix

They now read ... with the obstruction and criminal solicitation charges being 11/26/019 and the second charge of Desertion and non-support becoming September 8th. (Assuming Tylee)

For those following the arrest of Lori Vallow Daybell. In Idaho, felony desertion and nonsupport of dependent children is punishable by a fine of $500 and or 14 years in prison. If convicted of both counts Daybell faces up to 28 years on just those charges. #Daybell #Vallow

#BREAKING Court records indicate the date anyone last saw 17-year-old Tylee Ryan was on Sept. 8, 2019. Her mother Lori Vallow Daybell was just charged with two counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, one for each of her children including 7-year-old JJ Vallow.

Police went to Lori’s home on Pioneer Road on Nov. 26 and met with Alex Cox, Lori’s brother, and Chad Daybell, who was outside the residence.

“Chad acted as if he didn’t know Lori very well and stated he didn’t know her phone number,” the probable cause states. “Alex told the detectives that (Joshua Vallow) was with his grandma, Kay Woodcock, in Louisiana, which was not likely to be true due to the fact that Kay was the individual who first called in a missing child report to the Gilbert Police Department.”

Cox told officers Lori might be in apartment 107, but it was vacant. Chad then tried to drive away, and a detective stopped him. Chad told the investigator that the last time he had seen JJ was in apartment 107 in October. He also admitted that he knew Lori’s phone number, according to court documents.

Police found Lori in her apartment, and she told them JJ was with Melanie Gibb, a friend in Gilbert. Gibb participated as a co-host with Chad and Lori on a Preparing the People podcast. Investigators called Gibb but were unable to reach her. They followed up with Lori, who said that her friend and JJ were at “Frozen 2.” Officers told Lori to tell her friend to call them.

Rexburg police had not heard from the Gibb that night so they called the Gilbert Police Department. Officers in Arizona went to Gibb’s home. She was not there, but they reached her by phone, and she told them JJ had not been there for several months.

“On Dec. 6, 2019, RPD was contacted by (Gibb) and informed that both Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow called Melanie on Nov. 26, 2019, at separate times and asked her to tell police that she had (JJ) even though (JJ) was not with her,” court documents read. “Melanie informed RPD that she declined Chad’s and Lori’s requests.”

Ball writes that the statement Lori made about JJ being with Gibb “delayed the investigation into the whereabouts and safety of (JJ) by requiring us to take time to investigate a lead that was verified as false.”

UPDATE: We have received word from the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney that the hearing for Lori Vallow will be at 1 p.m. today at Kaua‘i Fifth Circuit Court in Līhu‘e. Due to this fact, we will need to push our press conference back to 3 p.m. HST today at KPD Headquarters.

Charge can be added or removed at any time depending on where the evidence leads. This applies to both Chad + Lori. Police can’t just arrest and charge people willy nilly. They must show “probable cause” of a crime. This is simply what prosecutors believe they can prove so far.

You can be charged with murder + still not have to post $5 million bail. It’s currently so high because she is in Hawaii as a “fugitive of justice” from Idaho Extradition sometimes takes weeks We’ll know more after Lori’s first night in jail, when the sun rises again in Hawaii

Our legal expert says the only way Lori Vallow (Daybell) can successfully fight her pending extradition to Idaho is to prove she’s not the Lori they’ve been looking for. Her bail, currently set at $5 million, will likely be reduced when she’s in Idaho.
