It seems to me that if JJ was living in the home then that firearm should have been locked up or at least have had a trigger lock on it. At the very least, stored separately from the ammo. In that case it would have taken time to retrieve it and make it ready to fire. Alex makes it sound like it all went down quickly. MOO.

Not meaning to be argumentative either, but since you're arguing..

Probably 95 percent of all cc for men is waistband (which is, pretty much, t-shirt flopped over - where else but the waistband or pocket would a gun be that a t-shirt flopped over would hide?). The only two other types of concealed carry I even know of (again, for a guy) would be ankle or shoulder, and almost nobody does that. Perhaps I'm looking at it only from a guy's perspective, where I have no purse or hand bag in which to put the firearm. In a purse or hand bag, you're right, the size (and size difference) might not be as big a factor.

I sure know a lot of guys that are almost nobodies then. Enough to make me think that you're wrong. ;)

DAY 36: This is Vince. We met a few weeks ago when he was visiting Idaho Falls. He works for a national network that is producing a special on the Daybell case. He has been in news over 20 years! We chatted for quite a while in Idaho and then found ourselves in Hawaii together. When our camera broke, he graciously volunteered to shoot all our stuff. He gave us tips and we helped his team. We have spoken daily - often more than once - for the past month and he is always kind, encouraging and helpful. Sometimes you hear that network news people have no heart or soul. Vince proves that thought completely wrong - he’s a good guy and makes my life better. (And stay tuned for an eye-opening special he’s working on. I’ll let you know the air date when I find out).

Not to be argumentative, but I dont need to look it up, I've got it in my gun safe. I'm not saying you're going to hide it in your clutch like a derringer, but its not that big of a problem to carry. I dont know many people who carry often that just shove things in their waistband, so perhaps that's where the misunderstanding is coming from. A holster with a tshirt flopped over it is considered concealed as well. The comment that started all this was along the lines of "Yikes a 45, isnt that something someone would only use if they thought they were going to encounter a bear". No, a 45 is not generally a large game weapon, and is quite commonly found in self defense situations. Are there smaller weapons, sure, but if we're talking was it too big for Alex to be using daily for his personal protection, certainly not.

Good information that you shared. My point, AC was at the scene with a weapon, not commonly carried for self-defense, not to wound someone but to more likely kill someone. Otherwise, LE would also have found a holster for said weapon in addition to the duffel bag and gun case. Didn’t LV, in her police statement, describe AC as a “professional “? MOO

But if he was serious about handguns, he probably owned several holsters, and was adept at carrying (unless prohibited by law, in which case he probably just kept the weapon in his car). Jmo

Justin Lum has part of the 911 call BB's dad made when MB trespassed

BB's dad tells Melani, "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! GET OUT OF MY GARAGE! GET AWAY FROM MY DOOR! NOW!"

He says she is harassing him at his door and has made threats (threats may have been at a previous date MOO, not clear). Dispatcher asks if she has weapons on her, BB dad says he doesn't know, "but that doesn't mean that [she] don't."

Based on what we have learned so far (like police statements after the shooting of CV), AC came over the night before because LV expected “trouble”. There is no publicly available information that suggests that firearms were in the home, prior to the arrival of AC.

You do mention another important point, regarding the time it takes to retrieve a weapon (in this case a firearm) from a gun case in a duffel bag. Especially considering that an emotional confrontation seems to have occurred in the home that morning that prompted TR to retrieve a metal bat she had in her possession and it became a weapon between CV and AC. Holsters. They sell em, wonder why if no one is buying/using them. Plus, give a fat old guy with a beer belly your weapon of choice and tell him to shove it in his waistband. Let me know how many times he flips you off.

That's the thing I was trying to clear up, its NOT uncommon to have a .45 as self defense weapon. Its not as common as a 9mm, but by no means something that would be blatantly out of the ordinary. You dont shoot to wound, if its a true situation where you're in fear for your life or the lives of others you shoot to kill. Professionals know that.

I agree but the only mention is of the duffel bag and gun case inside.

As you agreed with the previous comment, most men (or women), would use a gun holster. Unless I missed something in the police report, he stored his .45 caliber pistol in a plastic gun case in his duffel bag, rather than in a holster on his person.

Does anyone have any specific details about the podcast that Chad and Lori supposedly made in September? When? Where? Content?
If it exists and has been pulled does that necessarily mean it’s gone or could people have downloaded it? Transcripts?

This is the point I am trying to make. Based on all of the publicly information available, including police reports, AC brought to the home, a firearm not typically carried on a person for self-defense and certainly not a “professional “, as described by sister, LV, but a higher caliber gun and did not shoot to wound someone, as a “professional “ like LE is trained to do, but shot CV twice in the chest, “center mass”. IMO, it supports the reason given for the search warrant at JJ’s school.

I think you're right. What has always bothered me about the shooting (besides Lori's provocation, the suspected lies by her and AC, the possible manipulation of - and maybe by - Tylee, and the pool party) is that to me, handguns are only to be used for protection - for self defense (basically, if your life is in danger).

Anyone who caries a concealed weapon who thinks that by doing so they somehow have the right, or the authority, or even the obligation, to right all wrongs or (especially) to enforce the law is headed for big, big trouble. I'm not saying to always run away, but use your common sense. You're not a cop. This ain't the Wild West. Is someone's life in jeopardy? Is yours? Who else could get hurt?

In AC's case, I never got the impression that CV was beating Tylee or Lori over the head with a baseball bat, and that AC had to shoot CV in order to save Lori or Tylee's life. And I definitely never got the impression that AC's life was in danger. Tylee and Lori left. So that leaves AC and CV. I don't buy that CV somehow kept coming at a man pointing a gun at him. And besides, Lori had the phone, not AC. I just think it's obvious that AC didn't have to fire his weapon, which means it was a choice. Jmo

Are we allowed to discuss if she has previous arrests? MOO but she has that ‘substance abuse’ look. BBs dad was understandably frightened in that phone call to the police. You can hear the panic in his voice. JMO
