ID -Multiple firefighters reportedly shot while responding to fire near Coeur d’Alene

My dad is a trauma surgeon in CDA, he got called in for a mass casualty response at 2:15pm.
Many prayers and good thoughts for your dad. He will see things that people should not see, and I don't think we talk much about medical providers and the impact this has on them enough. They take an oath to do no harm, and they get to see the worst of humanity and try to fix what others have done to each other.

Supposedly preparing for a press conference. Here is a local news station live feed:

**Update:** Press conference is starting imminently.

**Update2:** Local-ish. Seems to be a Portland, WA station?

He’s two years from retirement and more than ready. Thankfully most of the trauma he sees there is in the form of ATV and vehicle accidents, not random gun violence.

And fireworks. Lots of firework injuries.

Presser has started.

@1:21 received report of fire.
@ 2pm report that firefighters receiving fire at them.
2 deaths at this time.

Some people might be stuck on the mountain.
Actively taking sniper fire as we speak.
Multiple agencies on sight.
Prepared to neutralize the suspect as soon as possible.
Don't know who the suspect is or how many there are.

Briefing was by the county sheriff. All times are PDT.

At 1:21 pm, reports of a fire on the mountain.

At about 2:00 pm, it was reported that firefighters reported being fired on.

2 deaths so far. Unknown number of casualties. Civilians coming down from mountain.

Actively taking sniper fire as he speaks.

Multiple agencies, local and federal, on scene.

They don't know who the suspects are, or how many there are.

Are the 2 deaths fire personnel? We believe that they are.
Have they been taken off the mountain. No. Still taking fire.
How are you going about evacuating people from that area?

Developing a plan to supress their firefighting ability.
Then they can get residents and hikers out of that area.
High power weapons are being used.

It's going to be a tough next couple of hours. Hope someone has a clear shot and they can be neutralized. They aren't showing any signs that they want to surrender.

Lots of resources, federal authorities, etc.

Are shots coming from multiple directions? Yes. That's what officers are reporting. No officers hit at this point.
