From the article atstephens9 posted, the searches are still planned to be going tomorrow. But I do wonder how long they will be needed.

Idaho, do you know if they are searching the apartment now because it takes time to get a search warrant?

I hate to think it, or say it out loud, but I'm not sure if they need anyone to search tomorrow- unless they're searching inside that apartment. (JMO) This is heartbreaking.

Thank you for wecoming me here! I'm just sick to my stomach about what I am seeing on TV, I know nothings confirmed, but the glim of hope is slipping away! I'm so upset how so many thing were not looked at til now almost a week later! I know, I may be optimistic! I'm praying this is not what it seems to be! Not another child taken away, at the hands of caregivers( I don't think they are worthy of the parents title, sorry)

I'm not sure. My guess is, if it's true that Robert's mom wasn't at the pressers today, they've been talking to her. Maybe she finally said something that gave them reasonable cause to be able to get in there?

I think they need to search the entire apartment grounds very thoroughly. But I doubt they will call off the search unless they have found Robert. There's always that "just in case".

Yes they are searching the mother's apt. right now.....

I'll keep checking for a video or an update to any of the article's posted about the search.
LE must know something or had a very reliable tip to go this late at night to search.....his mother wasn;t at the last press conference either. My hinky meter has been on her & her BF from the start.

Praying that Robert is found safe, but it's not looking that way after so many days. :(

Welcome to WS's atstephens9. Sorry it's under such a sad story in your hometown, but it's very helpful to get help from any locals on any case. As well as a fresh opinion on any case here.

Mom and her boyfriend's records (with children) should have been reason enough to start at the apartment. Do we know if the boyfriend was with Robert and mom was at work? I am suspicious of both but would rather point fingers at the boyfriend if the case goes in that direction. I hate to know that moms can and do hurt their children.

In a comment from the idahostatesman link a sister of a neighboor from the mother's apt., posted that she was outside on her porch when LE came at 8:15....The sister told her other sister said that a cop went to the boyfriends truck and yelled "I've got a positive". My brother said forensic was also going through the playground. :(

The rumor is that Robert was in the care of the boyfriend while mom was at work. That hasn't been publicly confirmed or denied, though.

When they say "I've got a positive", does that usually refer to blood?

UPDATED: Police search Manwill's mom's apartment late Thursday night
Friday's search will go on as planned, police say

Boise police and other law enforcement officials searched the apartment where 8-year-old Robert Manwill’s mother, Melissa Scott Jenkins, lives late Thursday night.

Police said they could not comment on the nature of the investigation, but about a dozen officers, including K-9s, were searching the apartment off Vista Avenue and the surrounding area. Forensic investigators also were involved.

The late-night investigation won’t affect the massive search planned for Friday, police officials said.

A search dog named "Kiwi" searches the grounds of the Oak Park Village Apartments late Thursday night, where where 8-year-old Robert Manwill went missing last week. The handlers of "Kiwi" wouldn't answer questions about their activities at the complex.

UPDATED: Police search home of Manwill's mother
12:42 AM MDT on Friday, July 31, 2009

Boise Police spokesperson Lynn Hightower was tight-lipped, and would only say the search is "another step in the investigation."

Police tape has been strung up around the area, and residents are being told police may be in the area for some time.

Reporter Scott Evans says that cabinets and drawers were being taken from the home, among other items. A woman with "crime lab" on her uniform was seen removing boxes of items from the home while wearing gloves - and loading the boxes into a van on scene.

Canine dogs were also seen at the complex.

A vehicle was also towed from the scene just after 12:30 a.m. Friday morning. The car was removed in coordination with police and FBI officials.

The fact that they are doing this late at night - especially with the dogs in the dark at the playground does not look good at all.

Police search boy’s mother’s apartment

Police tape blocked off the apartment complex near the intersection of West Cherry Lane and Shoshone Street.

Neighbors said they saw investigators removing items from the apartment of Melissa Scott Jenkins. The boy had been staying at Jenkins' apartment before he went missing Friday evening, police said.

Stephanie Whittington, who lives in the complex, said officers had been coming downstairs carrying paper bags.

"I don't know what was in them," she said.

Emilee Jones, who was at the scene, said the investigators were dressed in sterile-type clothing — hair nets, gloves and booties — and carried boxes and bags. She added that some carried blankets upstairs toward Jenkins' apartment.

Just before midnight, a group of investigators from the Boise Police Department and the FBI remained at the scene. The Idaho Statesman reported earlier this week that Jenkins is on probation for fracturing the skull of the boy's infant half brother, who was removed from her custody by the state.

No, it does not look good.

Part of the reason for it being done at this time of day is probably based on what they found or learned today and then the time it takes to get a search warrant signed. They either found something during the search, or someone gave something up during questioning. I would guess the latter.

FBI were watching and waiting for the right time to pursue the mom and bf. They always search the house when a child goes missing, first thing. But what they can't do is search through cabinets or test suspicious stains on the carpet for blood, or take things to lab to analyzed - they have to have a search warrant, and in order to get that, they have to have probable cause. If they mess up the order of things and those two are guilty, some defense attorney will get them off on a technicality.

They had to of had something in order to get the search warrant issued....I feel LE went to the apt. as soon as the Judge signed it & that's why they went this late at night to serve it. They weren't able to search the apt. more throughly till now. JMHO

ITA with you about Robert's mom. What a sad turn of events. As much as searches in these cases rarely locate anyone, unless it's a search based on specific info (body dump) that is, there is always that chance. Until LE has a definite answer, they still need to look.

The comment about how Robert likes to hide in places bothers me. I wondered if that was a setup to he has been put somewhere and they are gonna say oh he must of been trying to hide.

Police are searching the apartment unit where Robert Manwill's mom, Melissa Jenkins, lives. They are not saying why they are searching it or what they are looking for at this time. Crime Lab units are on scene. Stay tune for more details on CBS 2 Eyewitness News at 5:00a.m.
