Wallis claims that his truck disappeared on July 22 (Wednesday), two days before Robert disappeared (July 24)
Then it turned back up on Monday (July 27) and Wallis notified the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

Poster PB on this particular site asks: I'd like to know where the SUV was located and what turned back up means.

Jute says, on the same site: He said his black-and-gray Chevy Suburban was stolen July 22 after someone came into his house and took the keys. He found it Monday after returning from a weekend away and called the Ada County Sheriff's Department.

My comment - I have never heard any report of Wallis claiming that someone "broke into" his house, which indicates to me that someone just walked into his home and took his vehicle keys or perhaps they already had keys for the home because the individual knew Wallis well enough to have a copy of keys for the home. Were any door locks broken, windows broken? This sort of thing I have never seen a report on. Did someone just wander into his unlocked??? home when he was away?

If some unknown wandered into his home, took the keys to his vehicle, and left for two days, why in the world would this criminal return the vehicle to it's parking area? That has to be the most ignorant perp existing.

Whoever took that vehicle used it for a specific reason, and was known to Wallis, used the vehicle for what was necessary at the time, didn't wish to inform Wallis of the reason which implies some sort of sordid activity, and Wallis now knows it, imo. That is why he is making strong statements to the effect that "if something happened I don't know anything, I'm innocent" sort of statement.

Can they issue a warrant for his arrest, though? And then just wait until he is released? I mean he can't stay in there forever... If they have the evidence, they ought to charge him whether he's in the hospital or not but maybe they can't for some reason, I have no idea how all that works.

I normally attend the races every Saturday so being there tonight was planned anyways. I had family that was invited by Roberts family so I had a chance to meet MJ. Before the races started the Uncles car was drove out front and the entire family and invited friends came out to stand next to the car. All the drivers and staff came out on the center field from from the pit area. A letter was read from the family and a prayer was said. All the cars and staff had green ribbons in Roberts honor. Im not exactly how its going to go, but something was mentioned about every trophy for a certain class race or certain race or something will forever have Roberts name on the trophy. The uncle had a roof sized photo of Robert on the roof of his car and will race the rest of the season with it there.

Because my niece was there and wanted to come home with me tonight I will be taking her to the funeral tomorrow. It looks like I will be attending after all.

I absolutely agree. By the way, we drove by there yesterday and the black and gray Suburban is out front so it's not in police custody anymore (if it ever was, I'm not sure).

LE apparently cant talk to him or arrest him if a warrant was issued. He can only hide out there for so long.

In Ohio, my understanding is that they can issue a warrant for someone's arrest that is in the hospital however they cannot physically arrest him/her until he/she is discharged. The hospital notifies the police department.

RE Mother and "burping" her child...........THAT is the biggest load of crap I have heard.........a baby's head is SOFT (therefore hard to fracture) and is not completely formed yet AND to have a skull fx THAT big.........then all the comments (if those are true) re how she treated the poor little guy............I would be highly surprised if she is not involved. Once an abuser; always an abuser. JMHO

I really hope that LE is squeezing the sponge on Wallis. I don't think he is responsible for Robert's death but I really suspect that he knows a whole lot more than he has offered, or at least suspects a whole lot more and isn't giving it up. MOO

I'm speculate that LE has established a pretty strong timeline that could go something like this if MJ was at work:::
Robert last seen around 7:30 going to his apartment.
Robert has tragic event in the apt.,
Daniel calls his brother to find a way to move Robert (baby was also in Daniel's care)
David takes Wallis vehicle, both or one of them puts Robert in along with cleaning materials and dumps in Wallis' or area trash cans.
Takes Robert to canal.
All this could have taken place before MJ got home. Or, if she was to arrive, he could tell her to look for Robert, and while she's doing that, he could say he's out driving around looking for him, too, when he's really trying to cover up what happened as fast as possible.
I think he assumed they'd search the canal early on, and Robert would appear to have accidently drowned. A person that afraid of being caught, before allowing reasoning to set in, isn't motivated much by logic. I think it's said that's why a criminal makes at least 25 mistakes.

I, too, think that Daniel Ehrlich's brother was somehow involved. He is the link between the "stolen SUV" from Wallis where the hounds picked up Robert's scent, since he is the one who was good friends with Wallis. If David Ehrlich didn't actually move little Robert's body from the apartment, maybe he stayed there with the 18 month old since MJ was at work. Maybe Daniel didn't even tell him, maybe he just called his brother and asked him if he could get a large vehicle to borrow to move something quickly, and sit with the baby for about 15 minutes until he got back. If his brother, Dave didn't know, it would mean that Daniel did a whiz bang job of cleaning up and putting Robert's body somewhere where it wouldn't have looked conspicuous (trash bags). Or another sickening scenario is he left to dispose of the body, and left the 18 month old home alone (figuring he'd only be gone a few minutes and the mom would be home soon). It's really sickening to get a mental image of that bully trying to cover his a$$, after brutalizing a little boy who never had a chance. Of course this is just speculation, but you can bet they are all accusing each other while their being interrogated separately, common lowlife tactic.

I asked the same question. Im not sure if they have a warrant in place and ready to go or not. I am thinking that if they did it would be on the warrants. From what I understand if the family or anyone sees him they are to call 911.


Now with that said I think the fact that he is the only one making a point to hide out is a bit telling. It takes me back to thinking MJ really didnt have anything to do with it. She has not taken cover. Wallis hasnt taken cover either. I also think that if she did have something to do with it then he would stick to her like glue so he could make sure she doesnt talk. I think right now the way he is hiding out if she would have had anything to do with the cover up she would have spilled by now. She would have nailed him to the wall in order to save her own butt. Right now they don't seem to be working together to save each others butt at all.

Its also my understanding that the hospital cant release his release information to the police. Apparently he has found a totally safe place to hide out. I would suspect there is police watching that hospital pretty close. The crazy part is how close this hospital is to the jail. I would think if he is indeed the one they want its making them crazy knowing he is so close and they cant do a thing about it. Im talking a stones throw away.

KRT, I agree fully on the "burping" thing. Yes, mum really appears to be remorseful when one checks out her composure in photos and video. And, indeed, she may well be extremely remorseful, even if responsible (which I am not specifically stating here). Anger and lack of control often brings about remorse after the fact. Sources have already been posted that share the idea that MJ had control issues.

I know what you are saying here. I almost wonder if he just thought someone borrowed it. It disappeared July 22 on a Wed. Wallis states it "turned back up" meaning he found it that following Monday which was the 27th. I believe it was parked up the road from his home.
Wallis states he left for the weekend . To me that is Friday to Sun. So the suburban had already been gone Wed , Thursday before he left.
This is where it gets confusing because it would almost seem premeditated in a sense because it went missing 2 day prior to Robert missing..it may be a long shot but why steal it just to return it ? And with it being returned pretty much says to me that the person who took it knows Wallis.
I have not been able to figure out if he intially reported it stolen or if he only reported after he found it and started to put things together about Robert.
Back to the premeditated do we know if Mellissa was having to pay child support for Robert or for that matter all of her children?
Being that BF's dad and brother both stated that dad helps to pay the bills make me wonder if someone was getting tired of paying...JMO of course

I just wonder, if it was Ehrilck that killed Robert and she (MJ) knows anything about it and has ratted him out, what would happen if she ratted him out for fracturing the baby's skull last year too? (If, as some as speculated, it was him that caused the injury and not her). I mean why not tell all, if she's turned on him? And could they charge him for that or not - I know you can't try a person twice for the same crime but can you try a different person for the same crime? Just kind of wondering/thinking out loud...

I almost wonder if perhaps LE knew mom did not do it and therefor cut the deal because they could not pin the BF..did that make sense..lol

My comment - the vehicle was stolen 2 days before the disappearance, so it wasn't a spur of the moment action, which is one of the things I wonder about. I am really bugged by the fact that the vehicle was returned to it's normal parking area, that surely indicates some sort of "family" thing. If it was a stranger abduction the vehicle would NOT have ended up back in the driveway, period.

I think this is a definite possibility - it would certainly explain the extremely lenient sentence but I still can't imagine why they gave the baby back to her just a few months later when she was still with the same BF! (unless she lied and said he was out of the picture or something).

I never considered that angle, and definitely a possibility. I will gravitate to her simply because of some of the sources that claim she just had some control issues with her personality as well as evidence from medical people and work acquaintences that she was not really controlled in her daily activities. I wonder if her control issue's and such could be caused from just the stress of having a relationship with an abusive man. I read where she was always yelling at Robert and such. It could be she was trying to protect him by trying to get him to behave so BF wouldn't get involved.
I did not realize the baby was back in her care I thought she no longer had custody of the baby?

You bring up some serious concerns that I have had, and the "premeditated" thing being one serious consideration.

Thanks for the info that the vehicle was parked up the road from his home as well, something I had not grabbed up.

Anything that you can come up with positive proof of that vehicle being actually "stolen" would be welcome.

I personally think that she has control issues, and I think that her history demonstrates that. She is a person, imo, who can go nuts in one second even though a second later she regrets the action. I honestly believe that, if she is responsible, it will be a manslaughter or second degree thing. MOO
