An Idaho sheriff says new evidence makes him confident there is no ongoing threat to the community following the arrest of a 22-year-old man connected to a triple killing.

Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney gave few details Friday about the active investigation into the killing of an Arizona power company executive, his wife and their adult son, but says a diamond engagement ring taken from the home where the killings occurred has been recovered.

Statement released by Adam Dees' family:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Welp family during this difficult time. Our heart grieves with them for their loss. We pray that the person or persons responsible for this crime are apprehended swiftly. We would like to thank the news stations and community members that have presented a fair and balanced stance regarding our son.

Our son, Adam is a loving and caring young man raised in a Christian home. He was taught to help and defend anyone in need. He spends many afternoons helping his grandparents doing yard work and chores around their house. Our whole family believes in him. We know he made a poor decision but we also know that he could not have committed these murders. When we saw him on Monday he was happy and upbeat with no sign of worry or concern.

Adam is a man of great potential and great standing amongst his friends and family. We appreciate all of the support, prayers and positive messages that we have received at this time."

The Welp family released a statement of their own:

"We are deeply saddened by the unexpected and tragic loss of our beloved parents and brother. No words can adequately express the grief and despair we are feeling. These were kind, caring and generous people who meant so much to us and have been senselessly taken from us.

"Please respect our family's need for privacy during this difficult time. We truly appreciate the outpouring of love, condolences and prayers from family, friends and members of the community.

"We would like to thank the Ada County Sheriff's Office for handling this investigation professionally and compassionately. We urge anyone with information about our parents' or brother's deaths to please let detectives know. We pray the person or people responsible for this horrific crime are held accountable so we can have some understanding of what happened and why."

They still haven't charged Dees. I am thinking it wasn't him. The police haven't released any new info on this case for quite some time now. They have never said what the cause of death was for the victims either. The police are saying so little - I hope this doesn't end up as another unsolved crime. It's disturbing to know that something like this happened here and we have no idea who did it or what the motive was.

Dees has not been charged with murder in the deaths of Ted Welp, 80, wife Elaine, 77, and their son, Tom, 52, all of whom were found dead at their Boise Foothills home on March 10...

From the beginning, the Sheriff’s Office has kept a tight lid on information about the crime scene and the evidence gathered there. “The investigation is ongoing. We will share new information with the community as the investigation warrants,” Ada County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Andrea Dearden said Monday...

The Ada County Coroner’s Office has determined the causes of death for the three victims, but Coroner Dotti Owens said she is not releasing that information to the public due to an “open and ongoing investigation.” A sheriff’s spokesman said investigators have not asked the coroner to withhold the causes of death – a detail on a public record that is usually promptly released.

Who was killed? Who are the suspects??
The killer did not know the family personally, he will give LE more details of the crime on Monday.

Adam Dees was sentenced to die in prison for murdering Ted, Elaine and their son Tom Welp. Adam Dees said he was battling mental illness and he wanted to die. He decided to spend his last days living "crazy".

Surveillance video from the Wal-Mart showed Dees at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, buying the black bat, a ski mask and a package of plastic zip ties used in the murders. Dees entered the Welp house to rob it late that night or early the next morning.

Hours after the murders, Dees told a computer gamer friend from Wisconsin that he had robbed the house of a rich family and that it “got physical” when the people didn’t do what he asked.
