I'm wondering if he had one of those Google phone numbers that seemed to be a hit during this time?

Also I noticed he had activity on his facebook wall at 8:44pm on the 17th. I wonder if someone over the computer could have asked him to meet him or if they called him and needed gas, hence he went to walmart for a gas can. What time was walmart again? I'll check.

I want to know where this mysterious gas can went. Could it have burnt up completely with his car? There would have to be some sign of it.

11:20 for walmart cameras

His friend who was the last person we know that talked to him at 10:30pm, I don't think he had anything to do with it but it seems like he might have more answers then he thinks he does. Like, did he have google phone? . I know he probably has racked his brain over and over trying to help. I'm sorry that you all had to lose such a precious friend in your lives.

Hi, Mayelf, I'm a thousand miles away and I can't identify some of the references in this recent stream of (perhaps promising) messages, but I do think that your gas can question is apt: If it were in the car, it would almost certainly survive, though it might be relatively useless as forensic evidence. If, however, it somehow survived the conflagration somewhat unscathed, it might contain some concievably incriminating fingerprints. Whoever emptied the gas can might have used its contents to start the fire.

My biggest question was, if the gas can was not found, then we know for a fact there is someone else involved in the suspicious death and it couldn't be a suicide.

Hi, Mayelf, you're certainly right.

I would imagine that the police already know and want to prove that it was a murder. A few people do kill themselves by self-immolation, but young, outgoing, healthy, and active Tyler doesn't fit any suicide profile I've ever read.

The problem is proving it: A car burning and burning in a remote area destroys much evidence and there don't seem to be any leads. (Although the lack of public statements might mask some steps we don't know about.)

I do hope that people who knew Tyler will pass along information to the police and that all of us stay alert for keeping mass media on the case. In the past, many cases have been kept alive by one person who cares. (I'm sorry if that sounds preachy.)

Have they determined if anything was missing?
Like did he have watches or wallets etc they found or that he usually wore that were gone, there is something i found that im sure is a long shot but what about a laptop?
Did he have one, could he have had that with him?

I wish there just could be a little more public awareness on this case to help get more people talking

I'm pretty sure those hours are incorrect, as my fiance regularly goes to the Twin Falls Walmart after he gets off work at 2:00 am. IIRC, it is open 24 hours.

Wow, just checked this thread for the first time in a while to see a flurry of new activity. I don't have time to post much right now, but I'll answer what I can.

NMR, is the friend you speak about kdodds? are you close to him? do you find it odd he does not say anything on his blog about tyler, not even a prayer?

Would he join us?

If not could you share more about him and his relationship with Tyler.

Yes, he is the friend to whom I've been referring for most of my posts. I know him pretty well and was good friends with him throughout high school. He was the one who first introduced me to Tyler. I actually don't find it odd that he didn't mention anything on his blog. We spoke on the phone several times while Tyler was "missing," after we'd been contacted by detectives, and we shared some concerns about how much information we were supposed to be sharing with people who didn't know what had happened. I believe that's one of the major reasons he didn't post anything about it initially. I've known him for six years, and I sincerely doubt he knows anything he hasn't shared with me about the case. I'll ask him about joining, but I know he's extremely busy right now. He moved out of state very shortly after Tyler went missing to start school. The number listed on his blog is the one I have, so it's likely that's the number they were using to talk that night.

I'm not sure he had a laptop, but I do know the police took anything and everything in his room that would store data (computer, external hard drives, flash drives, etc.). I don't know about any watches or wallet.

I've been watching this thread for a while and first want to say that my prayers are with Tyler's family. I am so sorry for your loss.

The following info might have absolute no bearing on Tyler's case but I thought it best to post it. I live in Oregon and have followed with interest the discovery of a young woman's body around May 20th. Her name was Shelby Joanne Carty, aged 25. She was initially misidentified as Shelby Weigel. Here's the background on her case:

http://www.thedalleschronicle.com/news/2010/05/news05-21-10-02.shtml

and her obituary:

http://www.thedalleschronicle.com/c...10_obits/05/obits_05-23-10_shelby_carty.shtml

I have searched high and low for more info on this death and can find nothing. There is no mention of a vehicle found nearby. This is high desert, however, and not where someone could walk. If I am correct, McKay Creek is a full 50-60 miles south of Pendleton. This hasn't officially been ruled a suicide and LE is still investigating, as far as I can tell.

Shelby was struggling with many issues at the time of her death and was pregnant with her fourth child. She grew up in foster care and seemed to struggle with addiction problems. She did have a number of friends and family who loved her. None of this, however, correlates (to me) with her body being found in a creek, by ranchers, out in the middle of Umatilla County.

I also posted this info on the Winklebleck thread as he seems to have traveled in that general vicinity during May. IMO, he is a very dangerous man. Once again, I have no idea if this might be helpful. I do wish, that LE and the news sources would update the general public (and the families!!) when there is a questionable death like these.

Paul Winklebleck's cell phone was found in early March in SE Washington. His truck was found in Billings, MT on June 18th. He might have changed his appearance but has a large tattoo on the back of his neck which says "Combative for God". IMO, what he did to the two young women in Portland had nothing whatsoever with God.

yeah that guy is crazy. as far as Shelby, I couldn't find much info either. I think there are probally complications in your name (ex. birth, adopted, marriage, etc) that make info on her difficult to find. Some interesting comments on the one article though, from someone she lived with in December.

Maybe I'm being a bit dim, but I didn't see the comments. Are you referring to comments made by her foster mother within the article or comments following the article? Which link are you looking at? Thanks.

I'm sorry, I can't rfind the site now. I think it may be east oregonian because its not letting me view it now.

I think 2 differant sister in-laws posted. One was getting 2 of the kids, 1 was getting the one son, both very thankful for such beautiful children. Said she had a very ruff life, and I think they said want answers.

Then a girl posted saying she did not deserve this and she had live with her I think it was in December when they went for an ultrsound I think it was and she was 7 weeks pregnant so this person was saying she didn't understand the being 3 months pregnant unless she had been dead for a long awhile. The SIL asked to be contacted but that person off line.

Hi, Missizzy, this sounds like a tragic, heart-breaking case. Your posts are very welcome here, but if more information pops up, you might think of starting a thread just for these haunting deeds.

I'm older now, but age hasn't given me any sense at all about why people do things like this.

Paul Winklebeck has a thread if you want more information. I was attempting to post some information which might be of interest for those trying to answer some questions concerning Tyler's tragic death.

Please accept my apologies.

I am worried that the lack of new information on Tyler's murder will lead to a weakening of police interest in the case. Has anyone heard anything about possible developments for media coverage and/or LE investigation? For example, has the coroner's report come back? Has the family received the body for burial or heard of any leads, old or new?
